SANTA ANA, Calif. — If you have a Medicare Advantage plan in Santa Ana, this fall's mail is worth opening carefully. Federal filings for the 2027 plan year show 21 Medicare Advantage plans leaving Orange County after 2026, 28 new plans coming in, and 19 plans keeping the same idea but changing names. Two carriers, Central Health Medicare Plan and Providence Medicare Advantage Plans, will not offer Medicare Advantage plans in the county next year, and a new carrier, VillageHealth, is entering.

Key takeaways

  • Twenty-one Medicare Advantage plans are leaving Orange County after 2026, and every affected member gets a Special Enrollment Period that runs through the end of February 2027.
  • Central Health Medicare Plan and Providence Medicare Advantage Plans will not offer plans in the county for 2027; a new carrier, VillageHealth, is entering.
  • Watch your mail for the Annual Notice of Change (ANOC) by late September — 32 continuing plans have a change to premium, deductible, plan type or name.
  • The Annual Enrollment Period runs Oct. 15 – Dec. 7, and the Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period runs Jan. 1 – March 31 for a second look.

Santa Ana is in Orange County, and Medicare plan availability is set at the county level. That means these county-wide changes apply to Santa Ana residents, too.
