MyMedicarePlans.org publishes plain-language Medicare information — covering Medicare Advantage, Medicare Supplement (Medigap), and Medicare Part D — organized by state and city. This page explains how we research, write, review, and correct that content, and how we use AI-assisted tools. Our goal is information you can trust: accurate, current, sourced, and free of plan steering.
What we publish — and what we don't
We publish educational communications, not plan marketing. That means:
- We explain how Medicare works — enrollment periods, costs, the differences between plan types, and how to get help — using neutral, factual language.
- We do not recommend specific plans or create our own plan rankings or scores. Where our Star Ratings pages say “Best*,” it is not our judgment: the asterisk means the highest overall rating in that year’s CMS Star Ratings among the Medicare Advantage plans open to everyone with Medicare in that area, as CMS publishes it, and each page that uses it says so. We use it only where that rating is 4 stars or higher, and nowhere else do we call any plan "best."
- CMS Star Ratings are stated as facts. Where a page shows a plan’s Star Rating, it is Medicare’s own rating, shown as CMS publishes it ("out of 5," with the ratings year and the CMS source), and "top-rated" means a plan Medicare rates 4 stars or higher. The ratings are CMS’s, not ours, and a rating does not tell you whether a plan covers your doctors and drugs or what it charges.
- We do not publish premiums, benefits, or copays for Medicare Advantage plans. For Part D drug plans we may show premiums as published in CMS’s plan files; what you pay depends on your drugs, pharmacy, and income. For anything else, we point you to official sources and licensed agents.
- Where we present area-level data (such as how many plans or organizations serve a county, or general enrollment patterns), it comes from public CMS and Census sources and is presented as factual context, not a recommendation.
Our sources
We build our content and data from primary, authoritative sources, including:
- The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) — Medicare Advantage and Part D Landscape Source Files, monthly enrollment data, and program parameters;
- Official Medicare program figures (Part B premiums, Part D cost parameters, IRMAA income thresholds, and enrollment dates);
- U.S. Census Bureau population data;
- Medicare.gov and other government publications.
Program figures and dollar amounts are reviewed and updated each plan year as official numbers are released.
How we use AI-assisted tools
Our articles are produced with the help of AI-assisted research and drafting tools working from the verified, primary-source data above. This is disclosed on every article. AI tools accelerate research and drafting; they do not replace human accountability. Every article is reviewed by the responsible editorial desk before publishing, and our desks are responsible for sourcing, accuracy, and keeping content current. We do not publish AI-written content under the name of a fictional individual — our articles carry desk bylines (for example, "MyMedicarePlans Editorial Desk") to reflect that each piece is a collaborative product. You can read more about our teams on the Authors & Editorial Teams page.
Review and updates
Content is reviewed before publishing and revisited as Medicare rules, dates, and figures change. When we make a material update to an article, we revise its "updated" date. Annual program figures are refreshed for each new plan year.
Corrections
We correct errors promptly and transparently. If you believe something on the Site is inaccurate or out of date, please tell us — see our Corrections policy for how we handle and disclose corrections, or reach us through our contact page.
Advertising and how we make money
MyMedicarePlans.org is free to read. We may be compensated when you request a quote or ask to be connected with a licensed insurance agent or partner through the Site. This compensation never changes our editorial content: our desks do not create plan rankings or recommend specific plans, and advertising relationships do not influence what we write. Connection and quote services are provided by licensed insurance partners; using them is always your choice.
Independence
MyMedicarePlans.org is a privately owned educational website. We are not affiliated with or endorsed by the federal Medicare program or any government agency. For personalized, unbiased help, you can always contact Medicare.gov or 1-800-MEDICARE at no cost.
Content Integrity Standards
- No invented figures. Program-level numbers come from CMS / Medicare.gov; we never use placeholder data.
- No plan recommendations. This is educational content. We don't score or recommend specific plans; any Star Ratings shown are Medicare's own CMS ratings, stated as published.
- AI-assisted, human-reviewed. Articles are produced with AI-assisted tools and reviewed by the responsible desk before publishing.
- Inline sourcing. Facts and figures are cited to primary sources — CMS, SSA, and Medicare.gov.
- Correction transparency. We fix errors openly and note when a page was last updated.
- Not a government site. MyMedicarePlans.org is privately owned and not affiliated with or endorsed by Medicare or any government agency.
