About MyMedicarePlans.org
Effective July 24, 2026. Last updated July 2026.
MyMedicarePlans.org explains Medicare in plain language, place by place. People turning 65, people reviewing their coverage each fall, and the family members who help them should be able to see what is actually available where they live, and what changed this year, without a sales pitch. That is what we publish.
Today the site carries 5,935 Medicare articles covering 1,450 cities in 50 states, alongside state and national guides.
What we cover
- Medicare Advantage: the plans offered in each county and city, what is new, what is leaving, plan types (HMO, PPO, special needs plans) and the enrollment deadlines that matter.
- Medicare Supplement (Medigap): how the standardized plans work and the rules for buying one.
- Medicare Part D: drug coverage, the out-of-pocket cap and the yearly changes.
- The Medicare calendar: Annual Enrollment (Oct. 15 – Dec. 7), the Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period (Jan. 1 – March 31) and the rules for first-time enrollees.
Where our numbers come from
Plan counts, plan types and year-over-year changes come from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Medicare Advantage and Part D Landscape files and other CMS releases; program figures (premiums, deductibles, the Part D cap, IRMAA brackets) come from CMS, the Social Security Administration and Medicare.gov; population figures come from the U.S. Census Bureau. Every article lists its sources. We do not rank plans, call any plan “best,” or publish plan-specific premiums or benefits.
Who writes it
Articles are produced by our editorial desks with AI-assisted research and drafting tools working from the data above, and reviewed by the responsible desk before publishing. Each article carries the byline of the desk that produced it:
- MyMedicarePlans Editorial Desk — How-Medicare-works guides, enrollment-period guidance, Medigap vs. Advantage explainers, Part D basics, life-event guidance (turning 65, still working, moving).
- MyMedicarePlans Data Desk — Area availability counts by county, carrier counts, Star-Rating distributions, and plan-year landscape changes — always at the area level.
- MyMedicarePlans Costs & Policy Desk — Part D cost structure, IRMAA brackets, Extra Help / Low-Income Subsidy, enrollment penalties, and plain-language coverage of CMS policy changes.
Read more about the desks and their methods on our Authors & Editorial Teams page and in our Editorial Policy.
How we make money
MyMedicarePlans.org is free to read. We may be compensated when a reader requests a quote or asks to be connected with a licensed insurance agent or partner through the site. That compensation does not change what we write: we do not rank or recommend specific plans, and advertising relationships do not influence our coverage. Using a quote or agent service is always the reader’s choice.
Independence
MyMedicarePlans.org is a privately owned educational website. We are not affiliated with or endorsed by the U.S. government or the federal Medicare program. For free, unbiased help you can always contact Medicare.gov or 1-800-MEDICARE (TTY 1-877-486-2048).
