Aetna's Medicare Advantage lineup in Omaha for 2027: what's new, what's renamed

Omaha, Neb. — As Medicare's Annual Enrollment Period runs from Oct. 15 through Dec. 7, 2026, Omaha-area shoppers looking at Aetna will see a slightly bigger menu for 2027 than they saw this year — and a few familiar plan names that have been retitled. Aetna will offer eight Medicare Advantage plans in Douglas County next year, up from six in 2026, with two new plans joining the lineup and three existing plans carrying new names on the Plan Finder.

Key takeaways

  • Aetna will offer eight Medicare Advantage plans in Douglas County for 2027: one HMO, two HMO-POS, and five PPOs, including one D-SNP; all eight include drug coverage.
  • Two Aetna plans are new for 2027 and three were renamed; no Aetna plan in the county is leaving for 2027.
  • If you already have an Aetna plan, read your Annual Notice of Change (ANOC) — a rename or benefit change still shows up there, even if nothing feels different.
  • Any change you make between Oct. 15 and Dec. 7, 2026 takes effect Jan. 1, 2027; if you do nothing, your current plan renews as described in its ANOC.

MyMedicarePlans.org is an independent consumer news site; we are not Aetna, not Medicare, and not selling any plan. This article covers one carrier because readers keep asking us to lay out a single insurer's local menu side by side. Aetna is one of eight carriers offering Medicare Advantage plans in Douglas County for 2027; together, those carriers offer 39 plans.

What Aetna is offering in Douglas County for 2027

Omaha is in Douglas County, and Medicare Advantage availability is set at the county level. For 2027, Aetna's county lineup breaks down this way:

The full roster is in the table below. In alphabetical order, Aetna's 2027 plans in the county are: Aetna Medicare Dual Care (HMO D-SNP), Aetna Medicare Eagle (HMO-POS), Aetna Medicare Enhanced Classic Extra (PPO), Aetna Medicare Enhanced Extra (PPO), Aetna Medicare Signature (HMO-POS), Aetna Medicare Signature (PPO), Aetna Medicare Signature Classic (PPO), and Aetna Medicare Signature Classic Extra (PPO).

We can't publish premiums, copays, deductibles, networks or star ratings for any of these — those details belong on medicare.gov and in each plan's Evidence of Coverage.

What's new, what's renamed, what's not returning

Compared with the 2026 lineup, here is what changed for 2027:

The renames matter because several 2026 plan names were "recycled" onto different 2027 plans. If you look up a plan by name alone, you may land on something different than you expect. The plan's contract and plan ID — printed on your ANOC and member card — are the only reliable way to match.

The one Special Needs Plan in the mix

One of Aetna's eight plans in the county, Aetna Medicare Dual Care (HMO D-SNP), is a Dual Eligible Special Needs Plan. D-SNPs are limited to people who have both Medicare and Medicaid. If you don't qualify for Medicaid in Nebraska, this plan isn't an option for you; if you do, it is one specific kind of Medicare Advantage plan, not a replacement for Medicaid itself.

How to check a plan against your doctors and drugs before Dec. 7

Whether you're staying with Aetna, moving to Aetna, or moving away, the review is the same, and it's worth doing before the Dec. 7, 2026 deadline:

1. Pull up your plan's 2027 Annual Notice of Change (ANOC). It lists every change — premium, deductible, copays, drug tiers, extras — from 2026 to 2027. 2. Go to medicare.gov/plan-compare, enter your ZIP code, and add every prescription you take, with the exact dose and the pharmacy you use. The tool will show the full-year drug cost for each plan. 3. Check each doctor, hospital and specialist against the plan's current provider directory. Networks can change at any time, so confirm — don't assume. 4. If you take higher-cost drugs, note that the Part D out-of-pocket cap is $2,400 in 2027 (up from $2,100 in 2026), and the Part D maximum deductible is $700 in 2027 (up from $615 in 2026). The Medicare Prescription Payment Plan lets you spread drug costs across the year if you want. 5. If you want personalized help, call 1-800-MEDICARE (available 24/7) or use the Plan Finder's live chat.

CMS has not yet published the 2027 Part B standard premium and deductible or the 2027 IRMAA income brackets; those usually come out in November. We'll update our coverage when they do.

If you do nothing

Nothing dramatic happens. If your current Aetna plan is offered again in 2027 — and all six 2026 Aetna plans either continue or continue under a new name — you'll be automatically renewed into it, with whatever benefit, cost, drug list and network changes the ANOC describes. The Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period (Jan. 1 – March 31, 2027) gives Medicare Advantage members one more chance to switch plans or return to Original Medicare if the new year's plan isn't a fit.

Frequently asked questions

Is Aetna the only carrier offering Medicare Advantage plans in Omaha for 2027?
No. Aetna is one of eight carriers in Douglas County for 2027, and together those carriers offer 39 Medicare Advantage plans. We focused on Aetna here because readers asked for a single-carrier snapshot; medicare.gov shows every carrier side by side.
My Aetna plan has a new name for 2027. Is it a different plan?
It may be the same plan with a new label, or it may be a different plan that inherited the old name — Aetna did both in Douglas County for 2027. Check the contract and plan ID on your Annual Notice of Change, not just the name on the cover.
What's the deadline to switch plans for 2027 coverage?
December 7, 2026. Any Medicare Advantage or Part D change you make between Oct. 15 and Dec. 7, 2026 takes effect Jan. 1, 2027. Medicare Advantage members get a second window from Jan. 1 to March 31, 2027 to make one more switch.
Where can I see the actual costs and drug lists for these plans?
On medicare.gov's Plan Finder, or by calling 1-800-MEDICARE. Each plan also publishes a Summary of Benefits and an Evidence of Coverage with the full details. We can't publish plan-specific costs or benefits here — the official sources are the only ones that stay current. ## Where to go next For plan-level details — premiums, copays, drug tiers, provider networks and star ratings — use the Medicare Plan Finder at medicare.gov, call 1-800-MEDICARE (TTY 1-877-486-2048), or request the Evidence of Coverage directly from the plan. Those are the sources that update as plans update, and they're the ones to trust before you make a change by Dec. 7, 2026.
