PHILADELPHIA — If you have a Medicare Advantage plan in Philadelphia, this fall's mail from your insurer matters more than usual. In Philadelphia County, 12 Medicare Advantage plans are leaving after 2026, 13 new plans arrive for 2027, and 9 existing plans are being renamed, according to the CMS Medicare Advantage Landscape Source Files. Another 30 continuing plans have at least one change on file (to premium, deductible, plan type or name), while 76 plans continue as before.

Key takeaways

  • 12 Medicare Advantage plans are leaving Philadelphia County after 2026; if yours is one, you have a Special Enrollment Period that runs through the end of February 2027.
  • 13 new plans are being added and 9 are being renamed for 2027; a renamed plan is not the same as a lost plan, so you do not need to switch just because the name changed.
  • The Annual Enrollment Period runs Oct. 15 through Dec. 7, and the Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period runs Jan. 1 through March 31.
  • Read the Annual Notice of Change (ANOC) your plan mailed in September — it spells out exactly what is different for your specific plan in 2027.

That means about one in three Philadelphia-area Medicare Advantage members will see something different next year — and a smaller group will need to make an active choice.

What "leaving," "new" and "renamed" actually mean

A plan leaving means the insurer will not offer that specific plan in Philadelphia County in 2027. If you are enrolled in one of these, your coverage under that plan ends Dec. 31, 2026, and you will need to pick something else or you will fall back to Original Medicare.

A plan is new when the carrier is adding it to Philadelphia County for 2027. That gives shoppers more choices during the Annual Enrollment Period.

A renamed plan is the same plan with a new label. Your coverage continues — but the name on your card, your mail and the Medicare Plan Finder may look unfamiliar. It is easy to mistake a rename for a cancellation, so double-check before making a switch you did not intend.

A separate group of continuing plans — 30 of them in Philadelphia County — has at least one change on file with CMS for 2027 (on premium, deductible, plan type or name). We can't tell you the specifics of those changes here; your ANOC will.

The plans leaving Philadelphia after 2026

These 12 Medicare Advantage plans are shown in CMS's 2027 landscape file as not renewing in Philadelphia County (listed alphabetically by carrier):

If your plan is on this list, your insurer is required to send you a non-renewal notice. Keep it — it is your proof of eligibility for the Special Enrollment Period described below.

The plans new for 2027

Thirteen Medicare Advantage plans are being added in Philadelphia County for 2027:

Several of these are Special Needs Plans (SNPs), which are only for people who qualify — for example, by having both Medicare and Medicaid (D-SNP) or by having a specific chronic condition (C-SNP). If a plan name includes D-SNP, C-SNP or I-SNP and you are not sure whether you qualify, call the plan or your local SHIP before enrolling.

The plans being renamed

Nine plans keep their coverage but change what they are called for 2027:

If you are in one of these plans, you do not need to re-enroll. But do read your ANOC — insurers sometimes make other changes at the same time as a rename.

The table below lists every Medicare Advantage plan offered in Philadelphia County for 2026 by carrier and plan type, for reference while you shop.

What a Philadelphia member should do now

Philadelphia is in Philadelphia County, and Medicare plan availability is set at the county level. Whether your plan is leaving, new, renamed or simply changing, the same three steps apply.

1. Find your Annual Notice of Change (ANOC). Insurers were required to mail it by the end of September. It lists exactly what is changing on your specific plan for 2027 — premium, deductible, network, drug list and extra benefits. This is the single most useful document you have during Open Enrollment.

2. Check whether your doctors and drugs are still covered. Networks and formularies can shift even on a continuing plan. Use the Medicare Plan Finder at medicare.gov to compare, or call the plan directly.

3. Act during the right window.

“Changing” means the plan’s 2027 record differs from 2026 on premium, drug deductible, plan type or name; the details are in the Annual Notice of Change your plan mails by September 30. If your plan is not offered for 2027, you can choose another during the Annual Enrollment Period (October 15 to December 7) and you also get a Special Enrollment Period that runs through the end of February.
