CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. — If you have a Medicare Advantage plan in Clarksville, this fall's mail is more important than usual. In Montgomery County, 12 plans will not return in 2027, one carrier is pulling out entirely, 4 new plans are joining the lineup, and 8 have been renamed. That means some Clarksville members will need to pick a new plan — and the window to act runs during this year's Annual Enrollment Period, October 15 through December 7.

Key takeaways

  • Centene (WellCare) will not offer Medicare Advantage plans in Montgomery County in 2027; members in those plans will need to choose a new plan or return to Original Medicare.
  • If your plan is not renewed for 2027, you qualify for a Special Enrollment Period that runs through the end of February 2027 to switch plans.
  • Eight plans in the county have been renamed — same plan, new name — so a new-sounding letter is not always a new plan.
  • Read your Annual Notice of Change (ANOC) before December 7; 15 continuing plans have changes to premium, deductible, plan type or name that CMS's file flags but does not detail here.

Here is what is changing, and what a member should do next.

What is changing in Montgomery County for 2027

Clarksville is in Montgomery County, where CMS lists 41 Medicare Advantage plans from 9 carriers for 2027, down from 57 plans from 10 carriers in 2026. Comparing the 2026 and 2027 CMS Landscape files, 37 plans continue, 12 are leaving, 4 are new, and 8 have been renamed. The table below lists every plan available in the county.

The biggest single change: Centene (WellCare) has no Medicare Advantage plans in Montgomery County next year. If you are in a Wellcare plan today, your coverage will not simply roll over.

Plans not returning in 2027

If you are enrolled in one of these plans, your carrier will send a non-renewal notice this fall. The plans leaving Montgomery County after 2026 are:

If your plan is on this list, you get a Special Enrollment Period that runs through the end of February 2027 to pick a new Medicare Advantage plan or a stand-alone Part D plan with Original Medicare. You do not have to wait until then — you can also make your choice during the Annual Enrollment Period (Oct. 15–Dec. 7) so coverage lines up on January 1.

New plans joining Clarksville for 2027

Four plans are new to Montgomery County for the 2027 plan year:

A note on the D-SNP names: Special Needs Plans serve specific groups (people with both Medicare and Medicaid, or with certain chronic conditions). They are not open to everyone.

Renamed plans — same plan, new label

Eight plans have new names for 2027. If your ID card says one thing this year and something a little different next year, you may just be in a renamed plan:

A rename does not automatically mean the plan is different in other ways. But your ANOC will tell you.

"Changing" plans — read your ANOC

CMS's file flags 15 continuing plans in Montgomery County as changing on premium, deductible, plan type or name. The file does not spell out those details, and neither will we. The document that does is your Annual Notice of Change, which each carrier is required to mail to current members by the end of September. Compare it side-by-side with this year's Evidence of Coverage before December 7.

What a Clarksville member should do

A quick note on 2026 Part D

Whichever plan you end up in, some Part D rules apply across the board next year: the out-of-pocket cap on covered drugs is $2,100, the maximum Part D deductible is $615, the coverage gap ("donut hole") stays eliminated, and the Medicare Prescription Payment Plan lets you spread drug costs across the year in monthly amounts if you choose. IRMAA surcharges start above $109,000 in income for a single filer.

Frequently asked questions

What happens if I do nothing and my plan is leaving?
If your Medicare Advantage plan is not renewed for 2027, you will not be automatically moved to a comparable plan from a different carrier. You will return to Original Medicare on January 1, 2027, without a Part D drug plan unless you enroll in one. That is why the Special Enrollment Period through the end of February 2027 exists — so you have time to pick a new plan.
My plan has a new name for 2027. Do I need to switch?
Not necessarily. A rename by itself does not change your coverage. But renamed plans can still have other changes in the same year, so read the Annual Notice of Change to be sure the benefits, network and drug list still work for you.
Wellcare is leaving Montgomery County. What are my options?
You can enroll in another Medicare Advantage plan from a different carrier available in the county, or you can go back to Original Medicare and add a stand-alone Part D plan (and possibly a Medigap policy, subject to Tennessee's rules). A SHIP counselor can walk you through what fits your situation.
When exactly can I make a change?
Anyone with Medicare can change plans during the Annual Enrollment Period, Oct. 15 – Dec. 7, for coverage starting Jan. 1. Current Medicare Advantage members get a second chance from Jan. 1 – March 31. Members of a non-renewed plan get a Special Enrollment
