Nashville shoppers comparing Medicare Advantage this fall have a menu to work through. According to the CMS Medicare Advantage Landscape Source File for plan year 2027, 12 carriers are offering 60 Medicare Advantage plans in Davidson County, which includes Nashville. Every one of those plans includes prescription drug coverage.
Key takeaways
- Nashville sits in Davidson County, where 12 carriers offer 60 Medicare Advantage plans for 2027, and every plan on the list includes drug coverage.
- The county's plan mix breaks down as 30 HMO plans, 18 HMO-POS plans, and 26 PPO plans, and 30 of the 74 are Special Needs Plans.
- Compare specific premiums, copays, and networks on medicare.gov's Plan Finder or in each plan's own materials — this article does not list plan costs.
- The Annual Enrollment Period runs October 15 through December 7, and Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment runs January 1 through March 31.
This article lists the plans by carrier so you can see the full lineup in one place. The table below shows each plan's name, its plan type (HMO, HMO-POS, or PPO), and whether it is a Special Needs Plan. What it will not do — and cannot do, under Medicare's communications rules — is quote a premium, a copay, or a star rating, or point you to any one plan as the "right" choice. For those details, use the Medicare Plan Finder at medicare.gov or the plan's own documents.
What's in Davidson County for 2027
CMS reports 60 Medicare Advantage plans available in Davidson County for the 2027 plan year, offered by 12 carriers. Of the 74 plans offered in 2026, 51 continue, 14 are not returning, and 9 are renamed; 9 plans are new for 2027, and 21 continuing plans change something in their terms (see each plan's ANOC for details). Centene (WellCare) is not offering plans in the county next year.
All 74 plans include Part D drug coverage, so if you enroll in one of these Medicare Advantage plans, your drugs are covered through that plan rather than through a separate Part D plan.

How the plan types differ
The letters after a plan name — HMO, HMO-POS, or PPO — are shorthand for how the plan handles doctors and networks.
An HMO (Health Maintenance Organization) usually asks you to use a defined network of doctors and hospitals and to pick a primary care doctor. An HMO-POS (Point of Service) is an HMO with a limited "point of service" option that can let you go out of network for certain services. A PPO (Preferred Provider Organization) generally lets you see out-of-network providers, though your share of the cost is usually higher when you do.
You'll also see "SNP" tags in the roster — like D-SNP (dual-eligible, meaning Medicare and Medicaid), C-SNP (chronic condition, such as diabetes or heart conditions), and I-SNP (institutional). SNPs have eligibility rules, so not everyone qualifies to join one.
What "with drug coverage" means for your Part D costs
Because every Medicare Advantage plan in Davidson County includes drug coverage, the Part D rules apply to your plan. For 2027, Medicare has set:
- A $2,100 annual out-of-pocket cap on covered Part D drug costs.
- A maximum Part D deductible of $615 (plans can set a lower deductible).
- Three coverage phases — the old "donut hole" gap was eliminated starting in 2025.
- The Medicare Prescription Payment Plan, an optional way to spread your drug costs across the year in monthly payments rather than paying at the pharmacy counter.
Higher-income enrollees may also pay an IRMAA surcharge on Part D; for a single filer in 2026, IRMAA starts above $109,000 in income.
Dates to keep in mind
The Medicare Annual Enrollment Period runs from October 15 through December 7. That's the main window to join, switch, or drop a Medicare Advantage plan for coverage starting January 1.
If you're already in a Medicare Advantage plan on January 1, the Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period (January 1 – March 31) gives you one chance to switch to a different Advantage plan or return to Original Medicare.
How to compare the plans on this list
Because this article can't share plan costs or benefits, the Medicare Plan Finder at medicare.gov is the place to look them up. You can enter your ZIP code, add your prescriptions and preferred pharmacies, and see side-by-side estimates for the plans that serve your address. Each plan also publishes its own Summary of Benefits and Evidence of Coverage.
For personal help, Tennessee's State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) provides free, unbiased Medicare counseling. You can also call 1-800-MEDICARE (1-800-633-4227), 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
