How many Medicare Advantage plans is Humana offering in Tucson for 2027?

In Pima County, which includes Tucson, Humana is offering 13 Medicare Advantage plans for 2027. By type, that breaks down to 3 HMO plans and 10 PPO plans. Eleven of the 13 include Part D prescription drug coverage; two do not.

Humana is one of 15 carriers selling Medicare Advantage in the county next year. All carriers combined offer 88 plans in Pima County for 2027, so Humana's lineup is one slice of a much larger menu.

The table below lists every Humana plan available in the county, with plan type and whether drug coverage is included.

What is new or changing in Humana's Tucson lineup for 2027?

One Humana plan is brand new in Pima County for 2027: Humana Value Choice (PPO), a PPO with drug coverage. Three plans are returning under new names, and none of the carrier's 2026 plans are leaving the county.

The renamed plans for 2027 are:

A rename does not automatically mean the benefits are the same. If you are currently enrolled in one of these plans, your Annual Notice of Change (ANOC) — the booklet Humana mailed in late September — spells out exactly what is changing for 2027, from the drug list to the provider network to the cost sharing.

Does Humana offer Special Needs Plans in Pima County for 2027?

No. Humana is not offering any Special Needs Plans in Pima County for 2027 — zero D-SNPs (for people with both Medicare and Medicaid), zero C-SNPs (for specific chronic conditions) and zero I-SNPs (for people living in long-term care).

If you qualify for a Special Needs Plan and want one, other carriers in the county do offer them. The Medicare Plan Finder at medicare.gov lets you filter by SNP type.

Which Humana plans in Tucson include Part D drug coverage?

Eleven of Humana's 13 Pima County plans for 2027 include Part D prescription drug coverage built in. Two do not: Humana USAA Honor Giveback (PPO) and HumanaChoice R7220-001 (Regional PPO).

A Medicare Advantage plan without drug coverage is called an MA-only plan. If you enroll in one and want prescription coverage, your options are limited — most people in an MA plan cannot add a stand-alone Part D plan without being disenrolled from the Advantage plan. The exception is certain PPOs; medicare.gov or 1-800-MEDICARE can confirm what applies to a specific plan.

A few program-wide Part D numbers to keep in mind for 2027: the out-of-pocket drug cap rises to $2,400 (up from $2,100 in 2026), and the maximum Part D deductible any plan can charge is $700 (up from $615 in 2026). These are ceilings set by Medicare; each plan sets its own figures at or below them.

How do I check a Humana plan against my doctors and prescriptions before December 7?

The fastest way is the Medicare Plan Finder at medicare.gov. Type in your ZIP code, enter the names and doses of your prescriptions, and the tool shows your estimated yearly drug cost under each plan available in Pima County. You can also search the plan's provider directory to see whether your doctors and preferred hospitals are in network.

Three steps worth doing before December 7, 2026:

1. Read your current plan's ANOC. Pay attention to the drug list (formulary), the primary care and specialist cost sharing, and whether your providers are still in network for 2027. 2. On medicare.gov, enter your prescriptions exactly as written — including dose and frequency — so the cost estimate is accurate. 3. If you want to talk it through, call 1-800-MEDICARE (TTY 1-877-486-2048), which is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

If you do nothing, your current plan renews on January 1, 2027 with the changes described in the ANOC — assuming it is still offered. Since none of Humana's 2026 Pima County plans are being discontinued, current Humana members will have a plan to renew into.

What is the deadline, and what if I miss it?

The Medicare Annual Enrollment Period runs October 15 through December 7, 2026. Changes you make in that window take effect January 1, 2027.

If you are already in a Medicare Advantage plan and want to switch to a different Advantage plan or return to Original Medicare, there is a second window — the Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period — from January 1 to March 31, 2027. You can only make one change during that period, and it is not available to people in Original Medicare looking to add an Advantage plan.

A few 2027 Medicare numbers have not been published yet. CMS typically announces the standard Part B premium and deductible, along with the IRMAA income-based surcharge brackets, in the fall — usually in November. Those figures will come out before the enrollment deadline.
