Glendale's 2027 Medicare Advantage map: who's arriving, who's leaving, who's staying

For 2027, Glendale is looking at 124 Medicare Advantage plans: 26 new, 23 gone since 2026, and 61 still here but changed on premium, deductible, plan type or name, 23 of them under a new name. Below, how the lineup shifted in Los Angeles County and what to compare, with no plan ranked or recommended.

Fall 2026 — If you have a Medicare Advantage plan in Glendale, your mailbox is about to get busy. Carriers are sending out their Annual Notice of Change letters, and Los Angeles County's 2027 plan lineup looks noticeably different from this year's. Some plans are new, some are being renamed, and a handful won't be back on January 1.

Glendale is in Los Angeles County, where Medicare plan availability is set. For 2027, the county is seeing 26 brand-new Medicare Advantage plans arrive, 23 plans leave, and 23 keep their basic structure but change names. About 75 plans are continuing much as they are, and another 38 are staying but changing something — a premium, a deductible, a plan type, or a name — that you'll want to look up before you decide.

What "new," "leaving," and "renamed" actually mean

A new plan is one a carrier is offering in Los Angeles County for the first time in 2027. You can see every 2027 plan available to Glendale residents in the table on this page.

A leaving plan is one that will no longer be sold here after December 31, 2026. If you are enrolled in a plan that is leaving, your coverage ends that day. You do not lose Medicare — Original Medicare (Parts A and B) continues — but your Medicare Advantage benefits stop unless you pick a new plan.

A renamed plan is the same contract with a new label. Twenty-three plans in the county fall into this bucket. For example, several Alignment Health Plan plans are getting numbered names (such as Alignment Health My Choice 001, which was Alignment Health My Choice), and a few Aetna plans are shifting from HMO-POS to HMO or dropping older naming. The plan ID is often the same; the branding is what changed.

Carriers coming, going and staying

For 2027, one carrier is leaving Los Angeles County entirely: Central Health Medicare Plan. All seven of its plans — including Central Health Classic Care Plan I, Central Health Jade Plan, Central Health Medicare Plan, Central Health Part B Savings Plan, Central Health Valor Care Plan, and both Embrace plans — are not returning.

Other carriers are shrinking or shifting their lineup rather than exiting. Aetna (CVS Health) is dropping three PPO plans — Aetna Medicare Eagle (PPO), Aetna Medicare Enhanced (PPO), and Aetna Medicare Signature (PPO) — and adding Aetna Medicare Chronic Care (HMO C-SNP) and Aetna Medicare Eagle (HMO). Alignment Health Plan is retiring the Alignment Health Honor+ Plan, Alignment Health My Choice Select, and Alignment Health the ONE, while bringing in Alignment Health Advantage 005 (PPO), Alignment Health BRIDGE 003 (HMO), and Alignment Health Honor Plus 060 (HMO), among others.

SCAN Health Plan is retiring SCAN Affirm partnered with Included LGBTQ+ Health and SCAN MyChoice, and launching several new plans, including SCAN Costco Medicare Advantage, SCAN Inclusive, SCAN Baekse, SCAN Ansim Care, and CareMore Health Plan by SCAN. Blue Shield of California is adding Blue Shield Advantage and Blue Shield Value Advantage Plan. Humana, Centene (WellCare), Champion Health Plan, Clever Care Health Plan, Imperial Health Plan, UnitedHealthcare, and VillageHealth all have at least one plan arriving or departing for 2027. What to do if your plan is leaving

If your Medicare Advantage plan is on the "not returning" list for 2027, Medicare gives you a Special Enrollment Period that runs through the end of February 2027 to join a different Medicare Advantage plan or go back to Original Medicare and pick up a stand-alone Part D drug plan.

You still have the Annual Enrollment Period (October 15 – December 7, 2026) to make a smooth January 1 switch. Most people find it easier to choose during AEP so coverage lines up cleanly in the new year.

How to decide, with the lineup changing

Four plain steps help cut through the noise:

1. Read your ANOC. If you have a plan now, your Annual Notice of Change arrived in late September. It spells out exactly what is changing for 2027 — premium, deductible, drug tiers, networks, extras. 2. Check if your plan is renamed, changed, or gone. A renamed plan may still fit you; a leaving plan means you need to pick something new. Thirty-eight plans in the county are keeping their place but changing on premium, deductible, type, or name. 3. Match the plan to your doctors and drugs. The Medicare Plan Finder at medicare.gov lets you type in your prescriptions and preferred providers to see how each 2027 plan handles them. 4. Mind the Part D numbers. For 2027, the Part D out-of-pocket cap is $2,400 (up from $2,100 in 2026), and the maximum Part D deductible is $700 (up from $615). CMS will announce the 2027 Part B premium, Part B deductible, and IRMAA brackets later in the fall.

Dates to put on the calendar

• October 15 – December 7, 2026 — Annual Enrollment Period. Changes take effect January 1, 2027.
• January 1, 2027 — New 2027 coverage begins.
• January 1 – March 31, 2027 — Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment. If you are already in a Medicare Advantage plan, you can switch once during this window.
• Through February 28, 2027 — Special Enrollment Period for people whose plan is not being renewed.

If you do nothing and your current plan is being offered again next year, it renews automatically with the changes described in your ANOC.
