The table below lists each plan by carrier, along with its plan type and drug-coverage status, so you can see the full lineup in one place before you start comparing details on Medicare's Plan Finder.

What "available in Atlanta" really means
Medicare Advantage availability is set by CMS at the county level, not the city. Because Atlanta is mostly in Fulton County (with parts in DeKalb), the roster below reflects plans offered to Fulton County residents for 2027. If you live just outside the county line, your plan list may look different. You can confirm exactly which plans serve your ZIP code by using the Medicare Plan Finder at medicare.gov.
The carriers offering plans in Fulton County
Ten carriers are on the 2027 Fulton County roster. Compared with 2026, CareSource and Clear Spring Health are not offering plans in the county next year. Across the roster, 72 plans continue from 2026, 9 are new, 16 are not returning, and 9 have been renamed; 20 continuing plans change something in their terms, spelled out in each plan's Annual Notice of Change.
Among the carriers on the county's 2027 lineup, PruittHealth Premier focuses its Fulton County offerings entirely on Special Needs Plans. The full plan-by-plan list appears in the table below.
Understanding the plan types on the list
You'll see four different Medicare Advantage plan types in the Fulton County roster:
- HMO (Health Maintenance Organization): Usually asks you to use in-network providers and pick a primary care doctor. 32 plans in the county are HMOs.
- HMO-POS (Point of Service): An HMO that lets you go out of network for certain services, usually at a higher cost. 15 plans are HMO-POS.
- PPO (Preferred Provider Organization): More flexibility to see out-of-network providers, though in-network care generally costs less. 49 plans are PPOs — the largest group.
- PFFS (Private Fee-for-Service): Sets its own payment terms with providers. 1 plan in the county is a PFFS.
Also on the list are 39 Special Needs Plans (SNPs). These are limited to people who meet specific criteria — for example, D-SNPs are for people who have both Medicare and Medicaid, C-SNPs are for people with certain chronic conditions like diabetes or heart failure, and I-SNPs are for people living in a nursing home or similar setting. If a plan name includes "D-SNP," "C-SNP" or "I-SNP," it isn't for everyone.
Drug coverage in 2027
Every one of the 81 Medicare Advantage plans on the Fulton County roster includes Part D prescription drug coverage. That matters, because CMS lists 0 stand-alone Part D plans in the area's Medicare Advantage listings for 2027. If you enroll in a plan on this list, your drug coverage comes with it — you do not add a separate Part D plan.
A few program-wide Part D facts for 2027 to keep in mind:
- The Part D out-of-pocket cap is $2,100 for the year. Once you hit it, you pay $0 for covered drugs the rest of the year.
- The Part D maximum deductible is $615 (individual plans may set a lower one).
- The old "donut hole" coverage gap is gone as of 2025. Part D now has three phases: deductible, initial coverage, and catastrophic.
- The Medicare Prescription Payment Plan is available if you'd like to spread drug costs into monthly payments instead of paying at the pharmacy counter.
Star ratings and what they do (and don't) tell you
CMS publishes Star Ratings each fall that score plan contracts on things like customer service, member complaints and care quality. In Fulton County, CMS lists 0 contracts rated 4 stars or higher for this cycle. Ratings can be one data point when you compare plans, but they don't tell you whether your doctor is in a plan's network or whether your medications are on its formulary — you still need to check those directly.
How to use this list to decide
Availability is only the starting point. Once you know which plans are offered in your county, the next questions are personal:
1. Are your doctors and hospitals in the plan's network? Check the plan's provider directory. 2. Are your prescriptions on the plan's formulary, and at what tier? Check the plan's drug list. 3. What are the premiums, deductibles and copays? These are on medicare.gov's Plan Finder and in each plan's Summary of Benefits. 4. Do you qualify for a Special Needs Plan? If you have Medicaid, a qualifying chronic condition, or live in an institution, an SNP may fit — but eligibility rules are strict.
