Humana's 2027 Medicare Advantage lineup in Detroit: what's new, renamed, and gone

DETROIT — Fall 2026. Humana has filed its 2027 Medicare Advantage lineup for Wayne County, the county Detroit sits in, and the mix has shifted. Compared with this year, Humana is bringing 12 plans to the county for 2027, adding 2 new ones, renaming a few, and ending 6. If you are on a Humana plan now, that paperwork in your mailbox — the Annual Notice of Change (ANOC) — is where your plan's 2027 details live. You have until December 7, 2026 to make a change for coverage that starts January 1, 2027.

Key takeaways

  • Humana is offering 12 Medicare Advantage plans in Wayne County for 2027, all with drug coverage, including 1 HMO, 1 HMO-POS and 10 PPOs.
  • Two Humana plans are new for 2027 and six current Humana plans are not returning; a handful were renamed, so the plan on your card may have a slightly different name next year.
  • Humana's 2027 lineup includes two Special Needs Plans in the county: one D-SNP (for people with both Medicare and Medicaid) and one C-SNP (for people with specific chronic conditions).
  • The window to switch, drop or join a plan for 2027 coverage is October 15 – December 7, 2026; if you do nothing, your current plan renews with the changes in your ANOC.

MyMedicarePlans.org is an independent news and education site. We are not Humana, and we are not Medicare. Humana is one of 16 carriers offering Medicare Advantage in Wayne County next year; together those carriers offer 86 plans.

What Humana is offering in Wayne County for 2027

For plan year 2027, Humana's filing with CMS lists 12 Medicare Advantage plans available to people with a Wayne County ZIP code. By plan type, that is:

All 12 include Part D prescription drug coverage. Two of the PPOs are Special Needs Plans — one C-SNP designed around chronic conditions, and one D-SNP for people who have both Medicare and Medicaid. (Humana is not offering an I-SNP in the county for 2027.)

The full table below lists every Humana plan by name, plan type and whether it includes drug coverage. We can name the plans; we cannot attach premiums, copays, networks, drug lists or star ratings to any of them, and we are not ranking or recommending any. Those details belong on the Medicare Plan Finder and in each plan's Evidence of Coverage.

What is new, renamed, and not coming back

Compared with 2026, Humana's Wayne County lineup has three kinds of changes:

A rename is not a benefit change on its own — but it is a good prompt to open the ANOC and confirm the plan still fits your doctors, hospitals and prescriptions.

Special Needs Plans in the Humana lineup

Humana is offering two SNPs in Wayne County for 2027:

SNPs have extra enrollment rules. If you think you may qualify, confirm eligibility before you enroll — 1-800-MEDICARE or the plan itself can walk through it.

How to check a plan against your doctors and prescriptions before Dec. 7

Before switching to — or staying on — any Humana plan, do these four checks. They take about 20 minutes and they are the ones people most often skip.

1. Read your ANOC. If you have a plan now, the Annual Notice of Change spells out what is different in 2027: premium, deductible, copays, drug tiers, extra benefits. 2. Run your drug list on Medicare Plan Finder. Go to medicare.gov/plan-compare, enter your ZIP, and type in each prescription with its dose. The tool will show each plan's estimated full-year drug cost under its 2027 formulary. 3. Check your doctors and hospitals. Call each provider's billing office and ask whether they will be in-network for the specific Humana plan name (and the H-number if you have it) for 2027. Networks can change on January 1. 4. Confirm pharmacy status. Ask your pharmacy whether it will be a preferred, standard or out-of-network pharmacy for that plan in 2027.

If anything is unclear, call 1-800-MEDICARE (TTY 1-877-486-2048), 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

What is set — and not set — for 2027

A few program-wide numbers are already confirmed for 2027:

The 2027 Part B standard premium and deductible and the 2027 IRMAA income brackets have not been announced yet. CMS typically releases those in the fall, usually in November. Do not budget around any projection you see in the meantime.

Also worth remembering: the Part D coverage gap (the "donut hole") has been eliminated since 2025, and the Medicare Prescription Payment Plan lets you spread your drug out-of-pocket costs across the calendar year in monthly installments if that helps your cash flow.

Frequently asked questions

What happens if my Humana plan is one of the six not returning in 2027?
Humana will send you a non-renewal letter this fall. Losing coverage because a plan leaves the area gives you a Special Enrollment Period to pick another Medicare Advantage plan or go back to Original Medicare with a stand-alone Part D plan. If you do nothing by the deadline in the letter, you will generally be returned to Original Medicare on January 1, 2027, without drug coverage — so take action.
My plan is "renamed" — do I need to do anything?
Not automatically. A rename alone does not change your benefits. But use it as a prompt to read the ANOC, because premiums, copays, drug tiers and the provider network can still change from one year to the next even when the name stays similar.
Can I switch plans after December 7?
If you are already in a Medicare Advantage plan, the Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period (January 1 – March 31, 2027) lets you make one change — switch to another MA plan or go back to Original Medicare with a Part D plan. Outside of those windows you generally need a Special Enrollment Period.
Where do I get the actual premiums and copays for a Humana plan?
On medicare.gov/plan-compare (the Medicare Plan Finder), by calling 1-800-MEDICARE, or in the plan's own Summary of Benefits and Evidence of Coverage. We intentionally do not publish those numbers alongside plan names, because they change and because the right plan depends on your doctors, drugs and ZIP code. ## Where to go next **medicare.gov/plan-compare** — the official Plan Finder, with 2027 premiums, drug costs and star ratings once plans go live for AEP. **1-800-MEDICARE** (TTY 1-877-486-2048), 24/7, for personalized help. **Your plan's ANOC and Evidence of Coverage** — the authoritative source for what your specific plan covers in 2027. The deadline to choose coverage that starts January 1, 2027 is **December 7, 2026**.
