What Medicare Advantage plans does Aetna offer in Lincoln for 2027?
Aetna is offering 8 Medicare Advantage plans in Lancaster County, the county Lincoln sits in, for the 2027 plan year. By type, that is one HMO, two HMO-POS plans and five PPOs. One of the eight is a Dual Eligible Special Needs Plan (D-SNP) for people enrolled in both Medicare and Medicaid. Seven of the eight include Part D prescription drug coverage; one HMO-POS plan does not.
The full list, in alphabetical order:
- Aetna Medicare Dual Care (HMO D-SNP) — HMO D-SNP; with drug coverage
- Aetna Medicare Eagle (HMO-POS) — HMO-POS; without drug coverage
- Aetna Medicare Enhanced Classic Extra (PPO) — PPO; with drug coverage; renamed (was Aetna Medicare Enhanced Extra (PPO))
- Aetna Medicare Enhanced Extra (PPO) — PPO; with drug coverage; new for 2027

What's new or changing in Aetna's 2027 Lincoln lineup?
Two plans are new to Lancaster County for 2027: Aetna Medicare Enhanced Extra (PPO) and Aetna Medicare Signature (PPO). No Aetna plans are leaving the county, so no one with an Aetna plan is being forced to move for 2027.
Three plans were renamed. That matters because the name on your card next year may not match the name on it today, even if the underlying plan continues. Pay close attention here:
- Aetna Medicare Enhanced Classic Extra (PPO) was Aetna Medicare Enhanced Extra (PPO).
- Aetna Medicare Signature Classic (PPO) was Aetna Medicare Signature Extra (PPO).
- Aetna Medicare Signature Classic Extra (PPO) was Aetna Medicare Signature (PPO).
A rename does not automatically mean the same benefits, network or formulary carry over unchanged. Your ANOC — mailed by late September 2026 — is where Aetna lists what, if anything, changed about your specific plan for 2027.
What is the D-SNP for, and what does "with drug coverage" mean?
Aetna Medicare Dual Care (HMO D-SNP) is a Special Needs Plan built for people who have both Medicare and Medicaid. You cannot enroll in a D-SNP unless you qualify for both programs. In Aetna's Lancaster County lineup, this is the only Special Needs Plan; there are no Chronic Condition SNPs (C-SNPs) or Institutional SNPs (I-SNPs) from Aetna here for 2027.
"With drug coverage" means Part D is bundled into the Medicare Advantage plan — one card, one plan. Seven of Aetna's eight 2027 plans in the county work this way. The one plan without drug coverage (Aetna Medicare Eagle (HMO-POS)) does not include Part D; if you enroll in that plan and want drug coverage, you'd generally need to understand how that interacts with a stand-alone Part D plan, which can be complicated with Medicare Advantage. Call 1-800-MEDICARE to work through the rules for your situation.
How do I check an Aetna plan against my doctors and prescriptions before Dec. 7?
Use three sources, in this order, before the Dec. 7, 2026 deadline:
1. The Medicare Plan Finder at medicare.gov. Enter your ZIP code and your prescriptions. The tool shows each plan's premium, deductible, drug costs, pharmacy options and star rating, and lets you check whether specific providers are in network. 2. Your Annual Notice of Change (ANOC) from Aetna. If you're already enrolled, this document shows what changes on Jan. 1, 2027 for your current plan — including any formulary, network or cost-sharing changes. 3. The plan's own provider directory and drug formulary, available on Aetna's Medicare site or by calling the number on the plan materials. Confirm your primary care doctor, any specialists you see regularly, your preferred hospital, and each prescription by name and dose.
If you want help talking it through, 1-800-MEDICARE is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
What Part D figures should I know for 2027?
A few program-level numbers are already set for 2027 and apply across Part D, including the drug coverage inside Medicare Advantage plans:
- The Part D out-of-pocket cap rises to $2,400 in 2027 (up from $2,100 in 2026). Once your drug spending hits that cap, you pay $0 for covered drugs the rest of the year.
- The Part D maximum deductible is $700 in 2027 (up from $615 in 2026). Individual plans may charge less.
- The Medicare Prescription Payment Plan — the option to spread your drug costs across the year in monthly installments — continues in 2027.
The 2027 Part B standard premium and deductible, and the 2027 IRMAA income brackets, have not been published yet. CMS typically announces those in the fall, usually in November. Don't use projections from anywhere else as if they were final.
What happens if I do nothing by Dec. 7, 2026?
Nothing dramatic — but something. If you take no action and your current plan is being offered again in Lancaster County for 2027, you stay enrolled, and the ANOC changes take effect Jan. 1, 2027. Since none of Aetna's current Lincoln plans are leaving for 2027, no Aetna enrollee here is being pushed out of the carrier.
That said, "renewed" is not the same as "unchanged." Premiums, copays, drug tiers and provider networks can shift year to year. Three Aetna plans in this county also have new names for 2027, which is a cue to read the ANOC carefully even if your coverage feels familiar.
If you want to switch after Dec. 7, Medicare Advantage members get one more window: the Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period, Jan. 1 – March 31, 2027, during which you can change to a different Medicare Advantage plan or return to Original Medicare once.
