Area counts are for the county as a whole and are not a recommendation of any plan. Program figures are set nationally.

JERSEY CITY, N.J. — The Medicare Advantage shelf that Hudson County residents will shop from this fall looks noticeably different from last year's. One national carrier is entering the county for 2027, two carriers are leaving it, and ten individual plans will not be sold here next year. Open enrollment runs October 15 through December 7, 2026, and any change you make takes effect January 1, 2027.

If you live in Jersey City, your plan menu is set at the county level — Hudson County — by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). Here is what is coming, what is going, and what to do if your plan is one of the ones leaving.

How many Medicare Advantage plans will be sold in Hudson County for 2027?

For the 2026 plan year, Hudson County — the county Jersey City sits in — had 48 Medicare Advantage plans from 10 carriers on the shelf, split across HMO, HMO-POS and PPO designs, with 11 Special Needs Plans and 40 plans that include drug coverage. The table on this page lists each one by carrier.

Going into 2027, the CMS Landscape Source File shows 10 plans leaving the county, 10 new plans arriving, and 36 plans continuing. Two plans are being renamed, and about ten others have a change to premium, deductible, type or name that will show up in each member's Annual Notice of Change (ANOC) mailed in September.

Which carriers are new or leaving Jersey City for 2027?

One carrier is new to Hudson County for 2027: Devoted Health. Two carriers that sold Medicare Advantage plans in the county this year will not do so next year: Blue Cross Blue Shield (HCSC) and Braven Health.

For members of a Braven Health or Blue Cross Blue Shield (HCSC) Medicare Advantage plan today, that means your plan will not be renewing on January 1, 2027. You will receive a non-renewal letter from your plan, and you will qualify for a Special Enrollment Period to switch — more on that below.

What Medicare Advantage plans are leaving Hudson County after 2026?

Ten plans are not returning for 2027. Listed alphabetically by carrier, as CMS spells them:

Separately, Aetna is renaming two plans: what was Aetna Medicare Signature (Regional PPO) will be Aetna Medicare Enhanced (Regional PPO), and what was Aetna Medicare Signature (PPO) will be Aetna Medicare Enhanced Extra (PPO). A rename is not a cancellation — the plan continues under a new label.

What Medicare Advantage plans are new in Jersey City for 2027?

Ten plans are new on the Hudson County shelf for 2027, alphabetical by carrier:

Several of these are Chronic Condition Special Needs Plans (C-SNPs), designed for people with specific conditions such as diabetes, heart disease or kidney disease. You have to meet the condition requirements to join.

What happens if your Medicare Advantage plan is leaving Jersey City?

If your plan is on the "leaving" list, Medicare gives you a Special Enrollment Period that runs December 8, 2026 through the end of February 2027. In that window you can join another Medicare Advantage plan, or go back to Original Medicare and add a stand-alone Part D plan.

Two important dates sit alongside that SEP:

If you do nothing and your plan is continuing, it renews automatically with the changes listed in the ANOC. If your plan is not returning and you do nothing, you will be in Original Medicare on January 1, 2027, without drug coverage — which is why acting during the SEP matters.

What is changing in Part D for 2027?

CMS has confirmed a few Part D numbers for 2027. The annual out-of-pocket cap on covered drugs rises to $2,400 in 2027, up from $2,100 in 2026. The maximum Part D deductible a plan may charge rises to $700 in 2027, up from $615 in 2026. The national base beneficiary premium — a formula input, not what any specific plan charges — is $41.33 for 2027.

The 2027 Part B standard premium and deductible, and the 2027 IRMAA income brackets, have not yet been announced; CMS typically publishes them in November. For 2026, IRMAA surcharges begin above $109,000 in income for a single filer. The Medicare Prescription Payment Plan, which lets you spread drug costs across the year in level monthly payments, continues to be available on request from your Part D plan.

Frequently asked questions

When does the 2027 Annual Enrollment Period end?
The Annual Enrollment Period runs October 15 through December 7, 2026. Any plan change you make during that window takes effect January 1, 2027. If you do nothing and your plan is being offered again next year, it will renew automatically.
My Braven Health plan is one of the ones leaving — what do I do?
You will get a non-renewal letter from Braven Health. You then have a Special Enrollment Period from December 8, 2026 through the end of February 2027 to join another Medicare Advantage plan or switch to Original Medicare with a stand-alone Part D plan. You can also use the regular Annual Enrollment Period, October 15 – December 7, 2026, to pick a 2027 plan.
Does Jersey City have different Medicare Advantage plans than the rest of Hudson County?
No. Medicare Advantage availability is set at the county level, so every ZIP code in Hudson County — including Jersey City — sees the same list of plans. The table on this page shows the full lineup.
Where can I compare the actual costs and networks of these plans?
Plan Finder at medicare.gov is the official tool for premiums, deductibles, drug pricing and provider networks, and it is updated for 2027 plans in early October. You can also call 1-800-MEDICARE, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, for help from a Medicare representative.
