NASHVILLE — If you have a Medicare Advantage plan in Davidson County, this fall's mail is worth opening carefully. According to CMS's 2027 Medicare Advantage Landscape file, 14 plans offered here in 2026 will not be back next year, 9 new plans are joining the market, and 9 more are keeping their coverage but changing names. One carrier — Centene (WellCare) — is leaving Davidson County altogether.

Key takeaways

  • 14 Medicare Advantage plans in Davidson County are not returning for 2027, and 9 new plans are joining the market.
  • Centene (WellCare) will not offer Medicare Advantage plans in Davidson County next year, so its members will need to pick a new plan or return to Original Medicare.
  • If your plan is not renewed, you get a Special Enrollment Period that runs through the end of February 2027 — on top of the Annual Enrollment Period, October 15 to December 7.
  • Nine plans are keeping their coverage but changing names; the name on your new ID card may look different even if the plan itself continues.

That means thousands of Nashville-area members will need to make a choice before coverage rolls over on January 1, 2027.

What's leaving Davidson County in 2027

Fourteen Medicare Advantage plans available to Nashville residents in 2026 will not be offered in 2027. The largest group is from Centene (WellCare), which is exiting the county entirely. Its non-renewed plans include Wellcare Assist (HMO-POS), Wellcare Dual Access (HMO-POS D-SNP), Wellcare Giveback (HMO-POS), Wellcare Patriot Giveback (HMO-POS), and Wellcare Simple (HMO-POS).

Other plans not returning include Aetna Medicare Enhanced (HMO); five Humana plans — Humana Together in Health Select (PPO I-SNP), Humana Value Plus H5216-180 (PPO), Humana Value Plus H7617-088 (PPO), HumanaChoice H5216-449 (PPO), and HumanaChoice H5216-450 (PPO); and two UnitedHealthcare plans, UHC Dual Complete TN-S001 (HMO-POS D-SNP) and UHC Dual Complete TN-Y2 (HMO-POS D-SNP).

If you are enrolled in any of these, your carrier is required to send you a non-renewal notice. Don't ignore it — that letter is your ticket to a Special Enrollment Period.

What's new for 2027

Nine plans are joining the Davidson County market. Six are from Devoted Health: DEVOTED C-SNP CHOICE ENHANCED 029 TN (PPO C-SNP), DEVOTED C-SNP CHOICE GIVEBACK EXTRAS 034 TN (PPO C-SNP), DEVOTED C-SNP CHOICE PLUS 031 TN (PPO C-SNP), DEVOTED CHOICE 026 TN (PPO), DEVOTED CHOICE GIVEBACK 020 TN (PPO), and DEVOTED CHOICE GIVEBACK EXTRAS 042 TN (PPO).

Humana is adding Humana Together in Health (PPO I-SNP), and UnitedHealthcare is adding UHC Dual Complete TN-Q1 (HMO-POS D-SNP) and UHC Dual Complete TN-Y2 (HMO-POS D-SNP).

The full plan-by-plan table appears with this article.

Renamed — same plan, new label

Nine plans are staying in the market but changing names. If a plan below sounds unfamiliar, check whether it's simply the new name for the plan you already have:

A renamed plan is still a plan that continues, so members are auto-renewed unless they choose something else.

Plans that are 'changing' — read your ANOC

CMS's file flags 21 plans in Davidson County as changing in some way for 2027. What actually shifted plan by plan is spelled out in the Annual Notice of Change (ANOC) your insurer mails each September. If you keep your plan without acting, those changes take effect on January 1 whether you noticed them or not.

Fifty-one plans in the county are continuing without any of those flagged changes.

What Nashville members should do

If your plan is not renewed (for example, if you are with Centene/WellCare or one of the other 14 leaving plans): you have a Special Enrollment Period that runs through the end of February 2027. During that window you can pick another Medicare Advantage plan, or drop Advantage and go back to Original Medicare with a stand-alone Part D plan. If you don't act, you'll be moved to Original Medicare without drug coverage.

If your plan is renamed or changing: read the ANOC when it arrives. If everything still fits, you don't have to do anything — you'll roll over on January 1.

If you want to switch for any reason: the Annual Enrollment Period runs October 15 through December 7, 2026. There's also the Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period, January 1 through March 31, when Advantage members can make one change.

A few program facts worth keeping in mind

Good to know

Frequently asked questions

My WellCare plan is going away in Nashville. What happens if I do nothing?
You'll be returned to Original Medicare (Parts A and B) on January 1, 2027, and you'll lose Part D drug coverage until you enroll in a new plan. Because your plan was not renewed, you qualify for a Special Enrollment Period that runs through the end of February 2027, so you have time to pick a new Advantage plan or a stand-alone Part D plan.
How do I know if my plan is one of the ones changing?
Your carrier is required to send an Annual Notice of Change (ANOC) each September, listing what's different for the coming year. You can also compare plans at medicare.gov using the Plan Finder, or call 1-800-MEDICARE.
Is a renamed plan the same as my current plan?
Generally yes — it's the same contract with a new label, so you'll be automatically renewed. But the ANOC will still show any cost or benefit updates for the new year, so it's worth reading before you decide to stay.
Where can I get free, unbiased help in Tennessee?
Tennessee's State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP), known locally as TN SHIP, offers free one-on-one counseling. You can also visit medicare.gov or call 1-800-MEDICARE (1-800-633-4227), 24 hours a day, seven days a week. ## Where to go next Before you decide anything, gather three things: your ANOC or non-renewal letter, your current list of prescriptions, and your preferred doctors. Then compare options at **medicare.gov**, call **1-800-MEDICAR
