What’s Changing in Connecticut Medicare Advantage for 2027: 17 Plans Leaving, 9 Changing

HARTFORD, Conn. — The federal Medicare Advantage Landscape files for the 2027 plan year are out, and they tell Connecticut shoppers a clear story: the lineup looks a lot like last year by headline count, but underneath, there is real movement. Connecticut had 47 Medicare Advantage plans available for 2026 and will have 48 for 2027, according to the CMS MA Landscape source files for the two plan years.

Of the plans offered somewhere in Connecticut for 2026, 17 will not be offered anywhere in the state for 2027. Nine plans are being offered in both years but differ in at least one county on at least one of the four fields CMS tracks in its Landscape file — monthly premium, drug deductible, plan type, or plan name. Eighteen plans are new for 2027, and 21 are continuing unchanged.

Three carriers listed in Connecticut for 2026 have no Connecticut plans listed for 2027: CarePartners of Connecticut, ConnectiCare, and HealthSpring. One carrier is new to Connecticut for 2027: Devoted Health.

What the statewide numbers mean

CMS publishes a Landscape file for each plan year listing every Medicare Advantage plan offered in every county. By comparing the 2026 and 2027 files, we can see which plans are leaving, which are new, which are continuing unchanged, and which are changing.

Here, "leaving" means a plan offered somewhere in Connecticut for 2026 is not offered anywhere in Connecticut for 2027. "Changing" means the same plan appears in both years but differs on premium, drug deductible, plan type, or plan name in at least one county. "Continuing unchanged" means those four fields match in every Connecticut county the plan serves. Each plan is counted once statewide, no matter how many counties it covers.

Statewide for 2027: 17 leaving, 9 changing, 18 new, and 21 continuing unchanged, out of 48 plans offered for 2027 versus 47 for 2026.

If your plan is leaving

If your current plan is one of the 17 not being offered in Connecticut for 2027, you will receive a non-renewal notice from your plan. You get a Special Enrollment Period that runs through the end of February 2027 to pick a new Medicare Advantage plan or return to Original Medicare (and, if you choose, add a stand-alone Part D drug plan).

If you do nothing, your coverage under the non-renewed plan ends. That is why the mail from your current carrier matters: it tells you when coverage ends and lays out your options and deadlines.

If your plan is changing

Nine Connecticut plans are offered in both 2026 and 2027 but differ in the CMS file in at least one county. If your plan is one of them, your Annual Notice of Change (ANOC) is the document that spells out the specifics for the county you live in. The ANOC arrives in late September.

Read it next to your current plan materials. The ANOC is the authoritative source for exactly what is different for your plan in 2027 — we are not going to characterize those differences here, because they vary plan by plan and county by county.

If you do nothing, you stay enrolled in the renewing plan with the changes described in the ANOC taking effect January 1, 2027.

Counties with the most change

Every one of Connecticut's 8 counties sees at least one plan leave or change for 2027. Counts below are from the CMS Landscape file comparison:

A plan that leaves one county may continue in another, and county-level counts can total higher than the statewide figure because a plan sold in multiple counties is counted in each one. The statewide totals (17 leaving, 9 changing) count each plan once.

Carriers with no Connecticut plans listed for 2027 are CarePartners of Connecticut, ConnectiCare, and HealthSpring. The carrier new to Connecticut for 2027 is Devoted Health.

What to do before December 7

The Annual Enrollment Period runs October 15 – December 7, 2026. A choice made in it takes effect January 1, 2027. A few practical steps:

1. Watch your mail in late September for an ANOC (if your plan is renewing) or a non-renewal letter (if it is leaving). 2. Make a short list of what matters to you for 2027 — your doctors, your pharmacy, your prescriptions, and how often you travel. 3. Compare plans available in your county on Medicare.gov's Plan Finder, using your drug list and preferred pharmacy. 4. If your plan is not being renewed, remember you have the SEP through the end of February 2027 if you need more time, but acting during AEP keeps your coverage seamless on January 1.

These counts come from comparing the two official CMS Medicare Advantage Landscape files for 2026 and 2027. A plan counts as leaving when it was offered in the county for 2026 and is not offered there for 2027. A plan counts as changing when it is offered in both years but its 2027 listing differs on something a member would notice: the premium, the drug deductible, the plan type, or the plan name. Only the counts are shown here. This page does not name plans, list premiums or benefits, or recommend anything. Each plan is counted once statewide, however many counties it serves.
