What Wellcare Medicare Advantage plans are offered in Port St. Lucie for 2027?
Port St. Lucie is in St. Lucie County, where Wellcare is offering six Medicare Advantage plans for 2027. By type, that is five HMO plans and one HMO-POS plan. Four of the six are Dual Special Needs Plans (D-SNPs), designed for people who have both Medicare and Medicaid. All six include Part D prescription drug coverage.
The table below lists every Wellcare plan in the county for 2027, in alphabetical order. In short, the names you will see are Wellcare Giveback (HMO-POS), Wellcare Simple (HMO-POS), Wellcare Sunshine Health Dual Access (HMO-POS D-SNP), Wellcare Sunshine Health Dual Align (HMO D-SNP), Wellcare Sunshine Health Dual Align Unity (HMO D-SNP) and Wellcare Sunshine Health Dual Reserve (HMO-POS D-SNP).
For costs, copays, provider networks, drug lists and star ratings, go to the Medicare Plan Finder at medicare.gov, call 1-800-MEDICARE, or read the plan's own Evidence of Coverage. We do not quote those details here.
What is new, renamed or not returning from Wellcare in 2027?
Three Wellcare plans are new for 2027 in St. Lucie County, three were renamed from this year, and three Wellcare plans offered in 2026 are not being offered again in 2027.
The three new plans are all Dual Special Needs Plans: Wellcare Sunshine Health Dual Access (HMO-POS D-SNP), Wellcare Sunshine Health Dual Align (HMO D-SNP) and Wellcare Sunshine Health Dual Align Unity (HMO D-SNP).
The renamed plans are Wellcare Giveback (HMO-POS), which was Wellcare Giveback (HMO) in 2026; Wellcare Simple (HMO-POS), which was Wellcare Simple (HMO); and Wellcare Sunshine Health Dual Reserve (HMO-POS D-SNP), which was Wellcare Dual Reserve (HMO D-SNP). A rename can come with other changes, so the plan ID and the Annual Notice of Change (ANOC) your plan sent in September are what tell you what shifted.
If you are in a plan that is not returning, Medicare gives you a Special Enrollment Period to pick a new one. If you take no action and your plan is not offered again, you will not be automatically moved into a lookalike plan with the same features — this is the part worth checking now, not in January.
What is a D-SNP, and who can enroll in one?
A Dual Special Needs Plan (D-SNP) is a Medicare Advantage plan for people who have both Medicare and full or partial Medicaid. Four of Wellcare's six 2027 plans in St. Lucie County are D-SNPs. You can only enroll in a D-SNP if you qualify for Medicaid in Florida; the plan verifies that eligibility.
If you are not dually eligible, the two non-SNP Wellcare plans in the county for 2027 are the ones open to you. For help checking Medicaid eligibility in Florida, start at myflfamilies.com or call the Florida Department of Children and Families.
How do I check a Wellcare plan against my doctors and prescriptions before December 7?
The fastest way is the Medicare Plan Finder at medicare.gov. Enter your ZIP code, type in each prescription with its dose, and add your preferred pharmacy. The tool then shows your estimated yearly drug cost under each plan and whether a drug is on that plan's formulary.
For doctors and hospitals, use the plan's own online provider directory (every carrier posts one), or call the plan and ask whether a specific provider is in-network for 2027 — not 2026. Networks change at the plan-year line.
A short checklist for the next few weeks:
- Read your current plan's ANOC. Look at the premium, drug tier changes, maximum out-of-pocket and whether your plan is being renamed, consolidated or discontinued.
- Make a list of your prescriptions (name, dose, how often) and your regular providers.
- Run both lists through medicare.gov against each plan you are considering.
- Confirm by phone with the plan before you enroll if any provider or drug is make-or-break.
What are the 2027 Medicare dates and figures I should know?
The Annual Enrollment Period for 2027 coverage runs October 15 – December 7, 2026. Any change you make takes effect January 1, 2027. If you take no action, your current plan renews for 2027 if the carrier is still offering it, with the changes described in your ANOC.
A few program-level numbers CMS has confirmed for 2027:
- Part D out-of-pocket cap: $2,400 in 2027 (it is $2,100 in 2026).
- Part D maximum deductible: $700 in 2027 (it is $615 in 2026).
- Part D national base beneficiary premium: $41.33 for 2027 — this is a formula input, not what any particular plan charges.
The 2027 Part B standard premium and deductible, and the 2027 IRMAA income brackets, have not been announced yet. CMS typically publishes those in the fall, usually November.
If you want to spread your Part D drug costs across the year in level monthly payments, you can opt into the Medicare Prescription Payment Plan through your drug plan. It does not lower what you owe; it just smooths when you pay it.
