What Wellcare offers statewide for 2027
Across Florida, Wellcare's 2027 lineup counts 20 Medicare Advantage plans: 18 HMOs and 2 HMO-POS plans. All 20 include Part D prescription drug coverage. Within that total, six plans are Dual-Eligible Special Needs Plans (D-SNPs); Wellcare lists no Chronic Condition SNPs (C-SNPs) and no Institutional SNPs (I-SNPs) for the year.
Because Medicare Advantage is sold county by county, a plan that appears on the statewide list may or may not be available where you live. The full plan-by-plan table on this page shows the county reach for each 2027 Wellcare plan; use it alongside the Medicare Plan Finder at medicare.gov to confirm what is actually offered at your ZIP code.
Wellcare's plans with the widest county reach
The 2027 Wellcare plan reaching the most Florida counties on the carrier's list is Wellcare Sunshine Health Dual Reserve (HMO-POS D-SNP), shown in 25 counties and renamed from Wellcare Dual Reserve (HMO D-SNP). Two other D-SNPs — Wellcare Sunshine Health Dual Access (HMO-POS D-SNP) and Wellcare Sunshine Health Dual Align (HMO D-SNP) — each appear in 20 counties in their widest-reach version, and both are new for 2027. Wellcare Sunshine Health Dual Align Unity (HMO D-SNP), also new for 2027, is listed in 11 counties.
On the non-SNP side, the widest-reach Wellcare Simple (HMO-POS) entry is listed in 11 counties, and the widest-reach Wellcare Giveback (HMO-POS) entry is listed in 9 counties. Several additional Wellcare Simple and Wellcare Giveback plans appear with narrower county footprints. The table on this page lays out each plan and its county count so you can see where availability concentrates.
What is new, and what is not returning
Five Wellcare plans are new for 2027. All five sit in the Sunshine Health Dual family of D-SNPs: two versions of Wellcare Sunshine Health Dual Access (HMO-POS D-SNP), two versions of Wellcare Sunshine Health Dual Align (HMO D-SNP), and Wellcare Sunshine Health Dual Align Unity (HMO D-SNP).
Ten of Wellcare's 2026 plans are not returning for 2027. If you are currently enrolled in a Wellcare plan, that is the single most important thing to check this fall: whether your specific plan is on the 2027 list, is being renamed, or is leaving the market. Several Wellcare Giveback and Wellcare Simple plans are listed as renamed from HMO to HMO-POS versions for 2027, so the plan name you recognize may appear with a slightly different plan-type label.
If you receive an Annual Notice of Change (ANOC) from Wellcare in the fall of 2026, read it carefully. It will tell you what is happening to your plan for 2027.
Checking whether a plan is offered in your county — and covers your doctors and drugs
Statewide counts answer the question "what does the carrier offer in Florida?" They do not answer "what can I actually enroll in from my address?" To get there:
1. Go to the Medicare Plan Finder at medicare.gov and enter your ZIP code. 2. Filter by carrier to see the Wellcare plans available in your county for 2027. 3. For each plan you are considering, check the provider directory to confirm your primary care doctor, specialists and preferred hospitals are in-network. 4. Check the plan's formulary (drug list) for every prescription you take, including the tier and any restrictions such as prior authorization or step therapy. 5. Read the Evidence of Coverage (EOC) for the full rules.
If you prefer to work by phone, you can call 1-800-MEDICARE (1-800-633-4227), available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
What to do before December 7
The Annual Enrollment Period runs October 15 through December 7, 2026. A plan you choose during that window takes effect January 1, 2027. A practical checklist:
- Pull together your current plan's ANOC, your prescription list (with doses), and the names of the doctors and facilities you want to keep.
- Compare your current plan with other Wellcare plans in your county and with plans from the other 23 carriers in Florida.
- If your current plan is one of the 10 Wellcare plans not returning for 2027, decide whether to pick a different Wellcare plan, pick a plan from another carrier, or return to Original Medicare (with or without a stand-alone Part D plan).
- Confirm your decision in writing and keep the confirmation number.
There is no reward for rushing and no penalty for taking your time inside the window, as long as your choice is submitted by December 7, 2026.
