What Medicare Advantage plans does Aetna offer in St. Paul for 2027?
In Ramsey County — which includes St. Paul — Aetna (CVS Health) will offer 8 Medicare Advantage plans for 2027, all sold as PPOs under the Allina Health Aetna Medicare brand. Of those 8, seven include Part D prescription drug coverage and one is offered without drug coverage.
The full roster is in the table below. Spelled exactly as Aetna files them with CMS, the 2027 plans are: Allina Health Aetna Medicare Chronic (PPO C-SNP); Allina Health Aetna Medicare Eagle (PPO); Allina Health Aetna Medicare Enhanced (PPO); Allina Health Aetna Medicare Premier (PPO); Allina Health Aetna Medicare Premier Extra (PPO); Allina Health Aetna Medicare Signature (PPO); Allina Health Aetna Medicare Signature Fit (PPO); and Allina Health Aetna Medicare Value (PPO C-SNP).
Aetna is one of six carriers offering Medicare Advantage plans in the county for 2027; together, the carriers in Ramsey County offer 27 plans.
Are there any Aetna Special Needs Plans in Ramsey County for 2027?
Yes. Two of Aetna's eight plans here are Chronic Condition Special Needs Plans (C-SNPs): Allina Health Aetna Medicare Chronic (PPO C-SNP) and Allina Health Aetna Medicare Value (PPO C-SNP). Aetna does not offer a Dual Eligible SNP (D-SNP) or an Institutional SNP (I-SNP) in the county for 2027.
C-SNPs are limited to people living with certain qualifying chronic conditions. If you think a C-SNP might fit, call the plan or 1-800-MEDICARE to confirm the eligibility rules before enrolling.
Which Aetna plans in St. Paul include Part D drug coverage?
Seven of Aetna's eight 2027 plans in Ramsey County include Part D drug coverage. The one exception is Allina Health Aetna Medicare Eagle (PPO), which is offered without drug coverage; people on that plan who want Medicare drug coverage generally need to arrange it separately.
For 2027, Medicare's Part D rules set a $2,400 annual out-of-pocket cap on covered drugs (up from $2,100 in 2026) and a maximum deductible of $700 (up from $615 in 2026). Those are program-wide limits; each plan's own deductible and copays are listed in its Evidence of Coverage.
What is new or not returning from Aetna in Ramsey County for 2027?
For 2027, Aetna is not pulling any plans from Ramsey County and is not adding any new ones — but two plans have been renamed. Allina Health Aetna Medicare Premier (PPO) was previously called Allina Health Aetna Medicare Grand (PPO), and Allina Health Aetna Medicare Premier Extra (PPO) was previously Allina Health Aetna Medicare Grand Extra (PPO).
A rename does not necessarily mean the plan is identical to last year's. If you are already enrolled, your Annual Notice of Change (ANOC), mailed in September, lists exactly what is changing — premium, deductible, copays, drug list, provider network, extras — for your 2027 coverage.
How do I check an Aetna plan against my doctors and prescriptions before December 7?
Before you keep or switch a plan for 2027, confirm three things: your doctors and hospitals are in the plan's 2027 network, your prescriptions are on the plan's 2027 formulary, and the total cost (premium plus expected copays) still works for your budget. Networks and drug lists can change year to year even if the plan name does not.
Three good ways to check:
- Use the Medicare Plan Finder at medicare.gov. You can enter your ZIP code and your drug list and compare plans side by side.
- Call 1-800-MEDICARE (TTY 1-877-486-2048), 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
- Call the plan directly, or read its 2027 Evidence of Coverage and provider and pharmacy directories on the carrier's site.
The Annual Enrollment Period runs October 15 through December 7, 2026, and any change takes effect January 1, 2027. If you do nothing, your current plan renews for 2027 as long as it is still offered, with the changes described in your ANOC. If you are in a Medicare Advantage plan on January 1, you also have the Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period from January 1 through March 31, 2027 to make a one-time change.
A few 2027 numbers are still pending: CMS has not yet published the 2027 Part B standard premium and deductible, or the 2027 IRMAA income brackets. Those typically come out in the fall, usually in November.
