HealthSpring's 2027 Medicare Advantage plans in Arlington: one plan added, one gone
Arlington, Texas — As the Annual Enrollment Period for 2027 Medicare coverage runs from October 15 through December 7, 2026, HealthSpring's Medicare Advantage lineup in Tarrant County — the county Arlington sits in — is shifting slightly. One plan is new for 2027, and one plan from this year is not coming back. The rest of the carrier's plans are on the shelf again, with the yearly changes spelled out in each plan's Annual Notice of Change (ANOC).

Which HealthSpring Medicare Advantage plans are offered in Arlington for 2027?
HealthSpring is offering 6 Medicare Advantage plans in Tarrant County — the county Arlington is in — for the 2027 plan year. By type, that is 5 HMO plans and 1 PPO plan. All 6 include prescription drug coverage, and 2 of them are Dual-Eligible Special Needs Plans (D-SNPs) for people who have both Medicare and Medicaid.
CMS lists these plans under HealthSpring's parent organization, Health Care Service Corporation (HCSC), but they are marketed as HealthSpring plans. The table on this page shows the full lineup; the plan names, in alphabetical order, are:
- HealthSpring Courage (HMO)
- HealthSpring Preferred (HMO)
- HealthSpring Preferred Savings (HMO)
- HealthSpring TotalCare (HMO D-SNP)
- HealthSpring TotalCare Plus (HMO D-SNP)
- HealthSpring True Choice (PPO)
We are not listing premiums, copays, deductibles, networks, drug lists or star ratings here — those details belong in the official Plan Finder and in each plan's Evidence of Coverage, where they stay current.
What is new or not returning from HealthSpring in Tarrant County for 2027?
For 2027, HealthSpring has 1 new Medicare Advantage plan in Tarrant County — HealthSpring TotalCare Plus (HMO D-SNP) — and 1 plan from 2026 that is not returning. No plans were renamed.
If you are already in a HealthSpring plan, the carrier mails you an Annual Notice of Change (ANOC) each fall. That document shows exactly what is different about your plan for 2027 — the premium, the drug tiers, the provider network, the extra benefits — compared with 2026. If your current plan is one of the ones not returning, you will get a non-renewal letter and have a Special Enrollment Period to pick something else. If your plan is renewing and you do nothing, you stay in it on January 1, 2027.
How do I check a HealthSpring plan against my doctors and prescriptions before December 7?
The fastest way is the Medicare Plan Finder at medicare.gov. You can enter your ZIP code, type in each prescription you take (with the dose), and add the doctors and pharmacies you use. The tool then shows how each plan handles your drugs, whether your providers are in-network, and the estimated yearly cost based on your list.
A few things to look at carefully:
- Your drugs. Each plan has its own formulary (drug list) and tier structure. The same medication can land on a different tier under a different plan.
- Your doctors and hospitals. HMO plans generally require you to use in-network providers (except for emergencies); PPO plans let you go out of network, usually at a higher cost.
- Your pharmacy. Preferred versus standard pharmacy status can change what you pay at the counter.
- Any extra benefits you actually use. Dental, vision, hearing and over-the-counter allowances vary a lot between plans.
If you would rather talk to a person, 1-800-MEDICARE (1-800-633-4227) is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
What is changing in Medicare itself for 2027?
A few program-level numbers are already set for 2027:
- The Part D out-of-pocket cap rises to $2,400 in 2027 (it is $2,100 in 2026).
- The Part D maximum deductible rises to $700 in 2027 (it is $615 in 2026).
- The Part D national base beneficiary premium for 2027 is $41.33 — this is a formula input, not what any single plan charges.
The 2027 Part B standard premium and deductible, and the 2027 IRMAA income brackets, have not been announced yet. CMS publishes those later in the fall, usually in November. The coverage gap (the old "donut hole") was eliminated in 2025, so Part D now has three phases instead of four. And the Medicare Prescription Payment Plan — an option to spread your drug costs out across the year in monthly installments — is still available for 2027.
What happens if I do nothing by December 7?
Nothing happens to you if you do nothing — as long as your current plan is being offered again next year. It renews automatically on January 1, 2027, with whatever changes are listed in your ANOC. If your plan is not returning for 2027, your carrier will tell you by letter, and you will have a Special Enrollment Period to pick another plan without being left without coverage.
After December 7, you still have one more window if you are already in a Medicare Advantage plan: the Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period from January 1 through March 31, 2027, lets you switch to a different Medicare Advantage plan or go back to Original Medicare once.
