Key takeaways

  • The Annual Enrollment Period runs Oct. 15 through Dec. 7, 2026, and any choice you make takes effect Jan. 1, 2027.
  • Tarrant County, which includes Arlington, gains one new carrier for 2027 (Verda Health Plan of Texas) and loses one (American Health Advantage of Texas).
  • Twenty-eight plans available in 2026 will not return for 2027, and 22 new plans are being offered; if your plan is leaving, you qualify for a Special Enrollment Period.
  • The 2027 Part D out-of-pocket cap is $2,400 and the maximum Part D deductible is $700, both set by CMS.

ARLINGTON, Texas — Fall 2026 is when Medicare's plan year flips, and the 2027 Medicare Advantage lineup for Arlington is now set. Arlington sits in Tarrant County, where carriers file their plans with the federal government, and the county slate for next year includes a new insurer, a departing one, and a long list of plans that are changing names or rolling off entirely.

Here is who is offering Medicare Advantage in the county for 2027, what is new, and what is going away. The full plan-by-plan table is below.

The 2027 carrier lineup in Tarrant County

For the 2026 plan year, 12 carriers offered Medicare Advantage plans in the county that includes Arlington. For 2027, that total still stands at 12 — but the mix has shifted.

Carriers you can expect to see on next year's shelf include Aetna (CVS Health), Baylor Scott & White Health Plan, Blue Cross Blue Shield (HCSC), Centene (WellCare), Elevance Health (Anthem), Humana, Molina Healthcare of Texas, ProCare Advantage, Provider Partners Health Plans, Texas Independence Health Plan, UnitedHealthcare, and — new this year — Verda Health Plan of Texas.

American Health Advantage of Texas, which has offered one plan in the county, is not returning for 2027.

The plan types stay familiar: HMO, HMO-POS, PPO and PFFS plans are all represented, along with a sizeable group of Special Needs Plans (SNPs) built for people who are dually eligible for Medicare and Medicaid, have certain chronic conditions, or live in an institutional setting.

What's new for 2027

Twenty-two plans are new to Tarrant County for 2027. A few patterns stand out:

A lot of the new activity, as you can see, is on the SNP side — plans designed for specific groups rather than the general Medicare population.

What's not coming back

Twenty-eight plans available in 2026 will not be offered in Tarrant County in 2027. That includes American Health Advantage of Texas (HMO I-SNP) — the carrier's only plan here — as well as:

If one of these is your current plan, you will receive a non-renewal notice from the insurer. That notice triggers a Special Enrollment Period — a separate window that lets you choose a new Medicare Advantage plan or move back to Original Medicare (and add a stand-alone Part D plan) outside the regular fall deadline.

Renamed, not retired

Ten plans are keeping their contracts but changing names. If a plan you were researching seems to have vanished, check whether it has simply been renamed before assuming it is gone. Examples in the county include Aetna Medicare Chronic Care Total (HMO C-SNP), several Aetna dual-eligible plans, Wellcare Superior HealthPlan Dual Access and Dual Reserve (both HMO D-SNP), Humana Essentials Plus Giveback (PPO), Humana Total Complete (HMO), HumanaChoice Giveback H5216-358 (PPO), and AARP Medicare Advantage from UHC TX-61 (Regional PPO).

Another 22 continuing plans show changes in things like premium, deductible, plan type or name. Your Annual Notice of Change (ANOC), mailed by late September, is the document that spells out exactly what is different about your plan for 2027.

The dates and the numbers to keep in mind

Doing nothing is a choice too: if your plan is being offered again next year, it will roll over automatically with whatever changes the ANOC describes.

How to use the table below

The table below lists every Medicare Advantage plan on the 2026 Tarrant County shelf, grouped by carrier and showing the plan type (HMO, HMO-POS, PPO, PFFS) and whether drug coverage is included. It is a starting point for comparison, not a shopping list — the actual premium, deductible, provider network, drug formulary and extra benefits for 2027 live in each plan's own documents and on the official Medicare Plan Finder at medicare.gov.

By the numbers

Medicare Part B premium, 2006–2026

The standard monthly Part B premium has climbed from $88.50 in 2006 to $202.90 in 2026. Hover any point for that year’s premium.

Frequently asked questions

What happens if my Medicare Advantage plan is one of the ones leaving Tarrant County after 2026?
You will get a non-renewal letter from your insurer, usually in October. That letter opens a Special Enrollment Period, which lets you pick a new Medicare Advantage plan or return to Original Medicare and add a stand-alone Part D plan. You do not have to decide inside the regular Dec. 7 window, but acting during Annual Enrollment is often simplest.
I like my current plan and it is coming back for 2027. Do I need to do anything?
No. If you take no action, your plan renews on Jan. 1, 2027 with the changes listed in its Annual Notice of Change. It is still a good idea to read the ANOC and check that your doctors, hospitals and prescriptions are still covered the same way next year.
Is Verda Health Plan of Texas a Medicare plan I can sign up for in Arlington?
Verda Health Plan of Texas is a new Medicare Advantage carrier entering Tarrant County for 2027 with two plans. Whether it fits your situation depends on things like provider network and drug coverage, which are listed in the plan's own documents and on the Medicare Plan Finder.
Where can I get help comparing all these plans?
Use the Medicare Plan Finder at medicare.gov, where you can enter your ZIP code and your prescriptions and see every plan available in Tarrant County side by side. You can also call 1-800-MEDICARE (TTY 1-877-486-2048), 24 hours a day, seven days a week, for personalized answers.
