What UnitedHealthcare is offering in Travis County for 2027
The table below lists every UnitedHealthcare Medicare Advantage plan available in Travis County for the 2027 plan year, with its plan type and drug coverage status. All 14 include prescription drug coverage.
By plan type, the 2027 UnitedHealthcare lineup breaks down as:
- HMO-POS: 10 plans
- PPO (Regional): 4 plans
That is a shift from 2026, when the mix in the same county was 9 HMO-POS and 5 PPO plans.
The Special Needs Plans
Eight of UnitedHealthcare's 14 Travis County plans for 2027 are Special Needs Plans (SNPs). SNPs are Medicare Advantage plans built for people in specific situations, and you have to qualify to enroll. The 2027 breakdown:
- D-SNP (Dual Eligible): 5 plans — for people enrolled in both Medicare and Medicaid. These include UHC Dual Advantage TX-V11, UHC Dual Complete TX-Q6, UHC Dual Complete TX-S001, UHC Dual Complete TX-S6, and UHC Dual Complete TX-YL2.
- C-SNP (Chronic Condition): 2 plans — for people with certain qualifying chronic conditions. These are UHC Complete Care TX-16 and UHC Complete Care TX-29.
- I-SNP (Institutional): 1 plan — UHC Nursing Home Plan TX-F001, generally for people who live in a long-term care setting.
If you think a SNP might fit your situation, Medicare's Plan Finder at medicare.gov will tell you whether you qualify.
What's new, what's not returning, what's renamed
Four UnitedHealthcare plans are new in Travis County for 2027:
- UHC Dual Advantage TX-V11 (HMO-POS D-SNP)
- UHC Dual Complete TX-Q6 (HMO-POS D-SNP)
- UHC Dual Complete TX-S6 (HMO-POS D-SNP)
- UHC Dual Complete TX-YL2 (HMO-POS D-SNP)
Four of the carrier's 2026 plans are not being offered again in 2027. And one plan has been renamed: AARP Medicare Advantage from UHC TX-61 (Regional PPO) was called UHC Medicare Advantage TX-0030 (Regional PPO) in 2026. It's the same plan ID under a new name, but you should still read the ANOC — a rename often comes with other changes.
If a plan you have is one of the four not returning, UnitedHealthcare will have sent you a non-renewal notice. You have until December 7, 2026 to pick a new plan for coverage starting January 1, 2027, and you also get a Special Enrollment Period that runs through the end of February if your plan is leaving.
How to check a plan against your doctors and prescriptions
This is the single most important step before you enroll. A plan's monthly premium or extra benefits don't help if your doctor isn't in network or your medication isn't on the formulary. Before December 7:
1. Make a list. Write down every doctor and specialist you see, every hospital you want to use, and every prescription you take (name, dose, how often). 2. Use the Medicare Plan Finder. Go to medicare.gov/plan-compare, enter your ZIP code and your drugs. It will show every plan available to you in Travis County, estimated yearly drug costs, and whether each drug is covered. 3. Check the provider directory. On any plan you're seriously considering, open the plan's own provider search tool (or call the number on the plan's website) and look up each doctor by name. Networks change every January. 4. Call the pharmacy. Ask whether they are a preferred pharmacy on the plan you're considering — that can matter for drug copays. 5. Read the ANOC. If you're already in a UnitedHealthcare plan that is returning, your Annual Notice of Change spells out what's different in 2027 compared with 2026.
