Key takeaways
- UnitedHealthcare lists 80 Medicare Advantage plans statewide in Texas for 2027, all with drug coverage, but each plan is sold county by county, so some may not be available where you live.
- Of those 80 plans, 12 are new for 2027 and 22 plans offered in 2026 are not returning, which means current members may receive a non-renewal notice and need to pick a different plan.
- The Annual Enrollment Period runs October 15 through December 7, 2026, and any choice made during that window takes effect January 1, 2027.
- Confirm doctors, prescriptions and county availability at medicare.gov or by calling 1-800-MEDICARE before you enroll.
What UnitedHealthcare offers statewide for 2027
According to the CMS MA Landscape Source File for CY2027, UnitedHealthcare has 80 Medicare Advantage plans listed in Texas. By plan type, that includes 2 HMO plans, 63 HMO-POS plans and 15 PPO plans. All 80 plans include Part D prescription drug coverage.
The lineup also includes Special Needs Plans (SNPs) designed for people who meet specific eligibility rules:
- 19 Dual Eligible SNPs (D-SNPs) for people with both Medicare and Medicaid,
- 10 Chronic Condition SNPs (C-SNPs) for people with qualifying chronic conditions, and
- 1 Institutional SNP (I-SNP) for people who live in a nursing home or similar setting.
Because Medicare Advantage is sold county by county, a plan listed statewide may or may not be offered in your specific Texas county. The tables on this page show each plan's county reach.
Plans with the widest county reach
A few UnitedHealthcare plans are offered across all 254 Texas counties because they are built on a regional PPO service area. These include AARP Medicare Advantage from UHC TX-61 (Regional PPO), UHC Complete Care TX-29 (Regional PPO C-SNP) and UHC Dual Complete TX-S001 (Regional PPO D-SNP).
Other plans with broad reach are HMO-POS plans that cover large portions of the state. For example, UHC Dual Complete TX-YL2 (HMO-POS D-SNP) is listed in 108 counties, UHC Dual Advantage TX-V11 (HMO-POS D-SNP) in 107 counties, and UHC Dual Complete TX-Q6 (HMO-POS D-SNP) and UHC Dual Complete TX-S6 (HMO-POS D-SNP) each appear in multiple multi-county service areas. On the general enrollment side, AARP Medicare Advantage Patriot No Rx TX-MA01 (HMO-POS) is listed in 55 counties, and AARP Medicare Advantage from UHC TX-0001 (PPO) and AARP Medicare Advantage from UHC TX-0007 (PPO) are in the 30-county range.
Smaller-footprint plans — including the EP-series PPO plans and some HMO-POS variations — are offered in only one or a handful of counties. The full county list for every plan is in the tables on this page.
What is new or not returning
For 2027, UnitedHealthcare is adding 12 new plans in Texas and not renewing 22 plans that were offered in 2026. Among the newly added plans are UHC Complete Care Support TX-2A (HMO-POS C-SNP), UHC Complete Care TX-63 (HMO-POS C-SNP), AARP Medicare Advantage from UHC TX-62 (HMO-POS), and several new D-SNP options including UHC Dual Advantage TX-V11, UHC Dual Complete TX-Q6, UHC Dual Complete TX-S4, UHC Dual Complete TX-S6 and UHC Dual Complete TX-YL2.
The data also shows a number of renamed plans — for example, AARP Medicare Advantage from UHC TX-61 was previously listed as UHC Medicare Advantage TX-0030, and several Dual Complete plans received new plan IDs. A rename is not the same as a non-renewal, but the plan letter you see on your card may change.
If you are enrolled in a plan that is not returning, you should receive an Annual Notice of Change or non-renewal letter from the carrier in the fall. That letter will outline your options and the deadlines to act.
Checking whether a plan is offered in your county — and covers your care
Statewide counts are useful for context, but what matters is what is available at your address. Before enrolling, confirm three things:
1. County availability. Enter your ZIP code at medicare.gov to see which UnitedHealthcare plans are offered in your Texas county for 2027. 2. Doctors and hospitals. Check the plan's provider directory, or call the plan directly, to confirm the specific providers you use are in-network. 3. Prescriptions. Use the Medicare Plan Finder's drug-pricing tool or review the plan's formulary and Evidence of Coverage to confirm your medications are covered and to understand any coverage rules.
This site does not publish premiums, copays, deductibles, benefits, networks or star ratings for any plan. Those details change and should be verified through official sources before you enroll.
What to do before December 7
The Annual Enrollment Period runs October 15 through December 7, 2026. A plan selection made during that window takes effect January 1, 2027. A short checklist:
- Read the Annual Notice of Change from your current plan, if you have one.
- Make a list of your doctors, hospitals and prescription drugs with dosages.
- Compare plans at medicare.gov using your ZIP code and drug list.
- Verify provider participation directly with the doctor's office for 2027.
- Keep a confirmation number for any enrollment you complete.
There is no need to rush — the deadline is December 7, 2026, and the tools below are free.
