How many Anthem Medicare Advantage plans are offered in Chandler for 2027?
Anthem will offer five Medicare Advantage plans in Maricopa County — the county Chandler sits in — for the 2027 plan year. By type, that is two HMO plans and three HMO-POS plans, and every one of the five includes Part D prescription drug coverage.
All five are sold under the Wellpoint brand, which is how Elevance Health markets its Medicare Advantage products. The table on this page lists every plan by name, type and drug coverage. Plan availability is set at the county level by CMS, so the same Anthem lineup is available to Medicare-eligible residents across Maricopa County, not just inside Chandler city limits.

What Anthem plans are new or not returning in Maricopa County for 2027?
For 2027, Anthem is adding one new plan in Maricopa County and discontinuing one plan it offered in 2026. CMS confirms one new plan, one not returning, and no renamed plans for this carrier here.
The new plan for next year is Wellpoint I CareMore Home Care (HMO I-SNP), an Institutional Special Needs Plan. If you are currently enrolled in a plan the carrier is not renewing, you will get a non-renewal notice from Anthem explaining your options and the Special Enrollment Period that goes with it. If your plan is renewing, your Annual Notice of Change (ANOC), mailed in late September, describes anything that is different for 2027 — the costs, the drug list, the provider network and the extra benefits.
Which Anthem plans in Chandler are Special Needs Plans?
Four of Anthem's five 2027 plans in Maricopa County are Special Needs Plans — two Chronic Condition SNPs (C-SNPs) and two Institutional SNPs (I-SNPs). The fifth is a general-enrollment HMO-POS.
Special Needs Plans are a type of Medicare Advantage plan limited to people who meet specific health or living-situation rules:
- A C-SNP is for people with a qualifying chronic condition. Anthem's two C-SNPs in the county target different conditions — one is Wellpoint Chronic Care and the other is Wellpoint Lung Care. You have to have the condition the plan covers to enroll.
- An I-SNP is for people who live in, or need the level of care provided in, a long-term care facility (such as a nursing home), or who need that level of care at home. Anthem's two I-SNPs are Wellpoint I CareMore Home Care and Wellpoint I CareMore Home Care 2.
If you are not sure whether you qualify for a particular SNP, call 1-800-MEDICARE or check the plan details on medicare.gov.
How do I check an Anthem plan against my doctors and prescriptions before December 7?
Use the Medicare Plan Finder at medicare.gov, which lets you enter your ZIP code, your drug list and your pharmacy and see each plan's own numbers side by side. Do this before December 7, 2026 — the last day of Annual Enrollment 2027.
A few steps that make the comparison honest:
1. Enter every drug you take, with the exact dose and how often. The tool will show how each plan handles each one. 2. Add your pharmacy. Costs can vary a lot between a plan's preferred and standard pharmacies. 3. Check your doctors against the plan's provider directory. The directory lives on the carrier's own website; call the office to confirm they are taking the specific plan for 2027, not just "Anthem" in general. 4. Read your Annual Notice of Change if you are already enrolled. The ANOC is the document that tells you what is changing on your current plan.
For 2027, the Part D out-of-pocket cap is $2,400 (up from $2,100 in 2026) and the Part D maximum deductible is $700 (up from $615 in 2026). The 2027 Part B standard premium and deductible and the 2027 IRMAA income brackets have not been announced yet; CMS usually publishes those in November.
What are my other options in Maricopa County if Anthem is not the right fit?
For 2027, 15 other carriers offer Medicare Advantage plans in Maricopa County, for 92 Medicare Advantage plans in total across all carriers. Chandler residents can compare any of them on medicare.gov.
If you do nothing during Annual Enrollment, your current plan simply renews for 2027 if the carrier is offering it, with whatever changes are in your ANOC. If your plan is leaving the county, you will get a letter and a Special Enrollment Period to pick something else. You can also return to Original Medicare and add a stand-alone Part D plan, with or without a Medicare Supplement (Medigap) policy.
