GLENDALE, Ariz. — The 2027 Medicare Advantage lineup for the Phoenix West Valley is set, and shoppers in Glendale will see a reshuffled menu when the Annual Enrollment Period opens Oct. 15, 2026. Glendale sits in Maricopa County, where Medicare plan availability is tracked by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). For 2027, the county's roster shows 17 plans that are new, 13 that are leaving after 2026, and a long list of carryovers — some with name changes.

Here is what is changing, carrier by carrier, and what it means if your plan is one of the ones not coming back.

How many Medicare Advantage plans are offered in Maricopa County for 2027?

For 2026, Maricopa County has 88 Medicare Advantage plans from 16 carriers, and the 2027 landscape file shows 17 new plans joining and 13 leaving. Because Glendale is inside Maricopa County, residents choose from that same county-wide roster.

By plan type, the 2026 count breaks down to 55 HMOs, 16 HMO-POS plans and 17 PPOs. Thirty-six of those are Special Needs Plans (SNPs), which serve people with specific chronic conditions, people who also have Medicaid, or people in institutional care. Eighty-two of the plans include Part D drug coverage. The 2027 count will shift as the new entrants arrive and the exits take effect on Jan. 1, 2027.

The full carrier-by-carrier roster appears in the table below.

Which Medicare Advantage plans are new in Glendale for 2027?

Seventeen Medicare Advantage plans are new in Maricopa County for 2027, spread across seven carriers. Alphabetically by carrier, the new plans are:

Many of the newcomers are Special Needs Plans built for people with chronic kidney disease, diabetes or heart conditions, or who need in-home care. If you have one of those conditions, you may want to check eligibility rules before enrolling — SNPs have specific qualifying criteria.

Which Medicare Advantage plans are leaving Glendale after 2026?

Thirteen plans will not be offered in Maricopa County for 2027. If your plan is on this list, you will get an official notice from the insurer and from Medicare, and you qualify for a Special Enrollment Period (more on that below). The plans leaving, by carrier:

A note on names: a few plans share wording with 2027 plans but are listed as different plans in the CMS file (for example, Aetna is both ending a plan called Aetna Medicare Prime (HMO) and introducing a new plan with the same name). Read the Annual Notice of Change (ANOC) your insurer mails you — that document spells out exactly what is happening to your contract.

What happens if my Medicare Advantage plan leaves Glendale for 2027?

If your plan is not returning for 2027, Medicare gives you a Special Enrollment Period from Dec. 8, 2026 through Feb. 28, 2027 to choose another Medicare Advantage plan or return to Original Medicare with a stand-alone Part D plan. You do not have to act during the regular Oct. 15–Dec. 7 window to keep coverage, but acting earlier avoids any gap.

Here is the sequence to expect: 1. In late September or early October 2026, your insurer sends a non-renewal letter. 2. CMS also sends a notice. 3. You can shop and enroll in a new plan during the Annual Enrollment Period (Oct. 15–Dec. 7, 2026) with a Jan. 1, 2027 start date, or use the Special Enrollment Period that extends through February.

Doing nothing means you will likely be returned to Original Medicare on Jan. 1, 2027, without drug coverage — which is why most people in this situation make an active choice.

Which carriers are selling Medicare Advantage in Glendale for 2027, and what plan types?

Sixteen carriers offer Medicare Advantage in Maricopa County, from national names like Aetna, Humana and UnitedHealthcare to Arizona-focused plans like Banner Medicare Advantage, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona, Mercy Care Advantage and Verda Health Plan of Arizona. The carrier mix spans HMO, HMO-POS and PPO designs, plus a wide SNP bench.

Here is the 2026 count by carrier (carryover plus any changes will produce the 2027 count once the exits and additions settle):

The table below lists every plan by carrier for Maricopa County.

What about plans that were renamed for 2027?

Thirteen plans in Maricopa County are keeping their contracts but changing names for 2027. A rename alone doesn't change your coverage, but it can be confusing when you're comparing documents. Examples from the CMS file include Alignment Health Smart 005 (HMO), which was Alignment Health smartHMO (HMO); HealthSpring Preferred (HMO), which was HealthSpring Alliance (HMO); eternalHealth Harmony (HMO), which was eternalHealth + Fry's Medicare Advantage (HMO); Humana Total Complete (HMO), which was Humana Gold Plus H4461-056 (HMO); and UHC Dual Complete AZ-YL (HMO-POS D-SNP), which was UHC Dual Complete AZ-Y001 (HMO-POS D-SNP).

If a name you were searching for doesn't appear in the 2027 roster, check whether it was renamed before assuming it was dropped.

What should Glendale shoppers know about 2027 program-wide changes?

Two Part D numbers are confirmed for 2027: the out-of-pocket cap on covered drug costs rises to $2,400 (from $2,100 in 2026), and the maximum Part D deductible rises to $700 (from $615 in 2026). The national base beneficiary premium used in Part D calculations is $41.33 for 2027 — that's a formula input, not what any specific plan charges.

The 2027 Part B standard premium and deductible, and the 2027 IRMAA income brackets, have not been announced yet. CMS typically publishes those figures in the fall, usually November. Until then, no one — including this article — should quote a 2027 Part B number as fact.

The Annual Enrollment Period runs Oct. 15 through Dec. 7, 2026. If you do nothing and your current plan is returning, you will be renewed automatically with the changes described in your plan's Annual Notice of Change.
