Aetna's 2027 Medicare Advantage plans in Anaheim: two new, three gone, two renamed

ANAHEIM, Calif. — As the Annual Enrollment Period for 2027 Medicare coverage runs from October 15 to December 7, 2026, Aetna's Medicare Advantage lineup in Orange County is shifting. The carrier is bringing two new plans to the county, retiring three, and renaming two others. If you have an Aetna plan today, those changes will show up in the Annual Notice of Change (ANOC) your plan mailed you — and they are the reason to look twice before December 7.

This article is a plan-by-plan snapshot of what Aetna is offering in the county Anaheim sits in for 2027. MyMedicarePlans.org is an independent consumer site, not Aetna, and 15 other carriers also offer Medicare Advantage plans in Orange County next year.

What Medicare Advantage plans does Aetna offer in Anaheim for 2027?

Aetna offers 6 Medicare Advantage plans in Orange County — the county Anaheim is in — for plan year 2027. By type, that is 5 HMO plans and 1 HMO-POS plan. Five of the six include Part D drug coverage, and one is a Chronic Condition Special Needs Plan (C-SNP). Aetna does not offer a Dual-Eligible SNP (D-SNP) or an Institutional SNP (I-SNP) in the county for 2027.

The table below lists every Aetna plan available in the county for 2027, in alphabetical order, along with its plan type and whether it includes drug coverage.

What is new, renamed, or not returning in Aetna's 2027 lineup?

Aetna is adding two plans for 2027 — Aetna Medicare Chronic Care (HMO C-SNP) and Aetna Medicare Eagle (HMO) — and retiring three plans that were available in 2026. Two more carry forward with new names: Aetna Medicare Prime is now offered as an HMO-POS (it was previously labeled differently), and Aetna Medicare Signature Legacy (HMO) is the renamed version of a prior Aetna Medicare Signature (HMO) product.

If you are enrolled in a plan that is being renamed, your coverage is not disappearing, but the plan ID and the paperwork will look different. If you are enrolled in a plan that is not returning, Medicare will notify you, and you will have time during AEP — and in some cases a Special Enrollment Period — to choose a new plan.

How does the Aetna C-SNP work, and who qualifies?

A Chronic Condition Special Needs Plan is a type of Medicare Advantage plan limited to people living with specific chronic conditions, such as diabetes or heart failure. Aetna Medicare Chronic Care (HMO C-SNP) is new for Orange County in 2027, and enrollment is restricted to people who qualify under CMS's rules for the condition the plan serves.

If you think a C-SNP may fit your situation, Medicare.gov's Plan Finder will show the qualifying conditions for a given plan, and 1-800-MEDICARE can walk you through eligibility.

How do I check an Aetna plan against my doctors and prescriptions?

Before December 7, 2026, confirm three things for any Aetna plan on your short list: that your doctors and hospitals are in the plan's network for 2027, that your prescriptions are on its 2027 formulary at a tier you can afford, and that any pharmacy you use is a preferred in-network pharmacy.

The simplest way to check all three in one place is the Medicare Plan Finder at medicare.gov. Enter your ZIP code and your drug list, and the tool shows you how each plan handles your specific medications. You can also call 1-800-MEDICARE (TTY 1-877-486-2048), 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, or request the plan's Evidence of Coverage and provider and pharmacy directories directly from Aetna. Networks and drug lists can change year to year, so a plan that fit in 2026 may look different in 2027.

What should I know about drug coverage and Part D costs for 2027?

For 2027, CMS has confirmed the Part D out-of-pocket cap will be $2,400 (up from $2,100 in 2026), and the maximum Part D deductible will be $700 (up from $615 in 2026). The national base beneficiary premium — a formula input, not what any one plan charges — is $41.33 for 2027.

Five of Aetna's six Orange County plans for 2027 include Part D drug coverage; one does not. The Medicare Prescription Payment Plan, which lets you spread drug costs across the calendar year in monthly installments, remains available in 2027.

CMS has not yet announced the 2027 Part B standard premium and deductible, or the 2027 IRMAA income brackets. Those are typically published in the fall, usually in November.

What happens if I do nothing by December 7?

If your current plan is offered again in 2027, it renews automatically under its 2027 terms — the premium, deductible, drug list, network, and extra benefits in your plan's ANOC. If your plan is one of the three Aetna plans not returning for 2027, you will need to pick a new plan to keep Medicare Advantage coverage; otherwise you'll return to Original Medicare without a Part D plan.

You can also make one change to a different Medicare Advantage plan during the Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period, January 1 – March 31, 2027.
