What Aetna is offering in Miami-Dade for 2027

Miami sits inside Miami-Dade County, and Medicare plan availability is set at the county level. For 2027, Aetna (which CMS groups as Aetna (CVS Health)) is offering five Medicare Advantage plans here. All five are HMOs, and all five include Part D drug coverage.

Four of the five are Special Needs Plans — plans built for people in specific situations:

The table below lists every plan by name. You cannot judge a plan from its name alone — the premium, deductible, copays, network and drug list are what matter, and those come from the plan documents, not from us.

What's new, what's gone, and what was renamed

Here is the year-over-year picture for Aetna in Miami-Dade, drawn from the CMS Medicare Advantage Landscape Source Files for 2026 and 2027:

A rename is more than a label change. The plan's benefits, provider network and drug list for 2027 may differ from what you had this year. Your plan's Annual Notice of Change (ANOC), which should have arrived by late September, spells out exactly what changes on January 1, 2027.

If your current plan is the one not returning, you have the Annual Enrollment Period to pick a different plan. If you do nothing and your plan is discontinued, you will generally fall back to Original Medicare for 2027 unless you choose something else.

Aetna is one of several carriers in the county

Aetna is not the only insurer selling Medicare Advantage in Miami-Dade. For 2027, 16 carriers in total are offering plans in the county, with 101 Medicare Advantage plans altogether. Even if you have been with Aetna for years, the Annual Enrollment Period is a good moment to compare your renewed plan against what else is on the shelf.

How to check a plan against your doctors and prescriptions

Before you make any choice, confirm the two things that trip people up most often: whether your doctors are in-network, and whether your prescriptions are on the plan's formulary (its drug list) at a price you can live with.

Here is a simple way to do it:

1. Pull your ANOC and your current member materials. Your ANOC compares your 2026 plan to its 2027 version. Read the sections on premium, drug deductible, specialist copays, and formulary tier changes. 2. List your prescriptions exactly. Write down each drug name, dose and how often you take it. Generic vs. brand matters. 3. List your providers. Primary care, specialists you see regularly, and your preferred hospital. 4. Go to the Medicare Plan Finder at medicare.gov. Enter your ZIP code and your drug list. The tool will show you each plan's estimated yearly drug cost, pharmacies, and whether specific doctors are listed as in-network. 5. Call the plan to double-check network status. Provider directories can lag. A quick call to the plan — and to your doctor's billing office — confirms what Plan Finder shows. 6. If you need help, call 1-800-MEDICARE (TTY 1-877-486-2048). It is open 24/7.

Frequently asked questions

What happens if I do nothing before December 7, 2026?
If your current plan is being offered again in 2027, it renews automatically with the changes described in your Annual Notice of Change. If your plan is one of those not returning next year, you will generally be moved back to Original Medicare on January 1, 2027, unless you pick another Medicare Advantage or Part D plan during the Annual Enrollment Period.
Does a renamed plan mean my benefits stay the same?
No. A name change does not tell you anything about the benefits. The premium, copays, provider network and drug list for 2027 may be different from this year's version. Check your ANOC and look the plan up on the Medicare Plan Finder.
Can I switch plans after December 7?
Yes, in some cases. The Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period runs January 1 through March 31, 2027. During that window, if you are already in a Medicare Advantage plan, you can switch to a different Medicare Advantage plan or go back to Original Medicare (and add a Part D plan). Special Enrollment Periods also apply in certain situations, like moving or losing other coverage.
How do I know if I qualify for a Special Needs Plan?
D-SNPs are for people who have both Medicare and Medicaid. C-SNPs are for people with specific qualifying chronic conditions. Each SNP has its own eligibility rules. The Medicare Plan Finder on medicare.gov will show which SNPs are available in Miami-Dade, and the plan itself verifies eligibility when you apply. ## Where to get official answers For plan-specific questions — premiums, copays, drug coverage, provider networks or star ratings — go to the sources built for that: **medicare.gov** — the Medicare Plan Finder lets you compare every plan in Miami-Dade using your own drugs and pharmacies. **1-800-MEDICARE (TTY 1-877-486-2048)** — 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. **The plan's own Evidence of Coverage and provider directory** — the only documents that are binding on what a plan actually covers. The deadline to make a change for 2027 coverage is December 7, 2026. You have time — use it to check, compare and ask questions.
