Humana's 2027 lineup in Hillsborough County, the county Tampa sits in, includes 28 Medicare Advantage plans. Two are brand new, six will not come back, and five are returning under new names. That means the plan you had this year may look a little different in your Annual Notice of Change (ANOC) — the mailing that spells out what is changing for 2027.
MyMedicarePlans.org is an independent consumer site, not Humana and not Medicare. We are walking through one carrier here because readers keep asking the same question: "What is Humana offering in Tampa next year, and how do I check it against my own doctors and prescriptions?"
What Humana is offering in Tampa for 2027
For plan year 2027, Humana has 28 Medicare Advantage plans available in Hillsborough County. By type, that breaks down to 19 HMO plans and 9 PPO plans. All 28 include Part D prescription drug coverage.
Fourteen of those plans are Special Needs Plans — coverage designed for people who meet specific eligibility rules. Humana's SNP mix for 2027 is 8 Dual-Eligible Special Needs Plans (D-SNPs, for people with both Medicare and Medicaid) and 6 Chronic Condition Special Needs Plans (C-SNPs, for people with qualifying conditions like diabetes, heart disease or chronic lung conditions). There are no Institutional SNPs in this county's Humana lineup for 2027.
The full list of plan names and types is in the table on this page.
What is new, what is not returning, and what was renamed
Two Humana plans are new in Tampa for 2027:
- Humana Dual Integrated (PPO D-SNP)
- Humana Essentials Plus Giveback (PPO)
Six Humana plans from 2026 are not being offered in Hillsborough County for 2027. If you are enrolled in a plan that is leaving, Humana is required to send you a non-renewal notice, and you have a Special Enrollment Period to pick a new plan.
Five plans are returning under new names. A renamed plan is not automatically the same plan under the hood — benefits, networks and drug lists can still change year to year. The renames to watch for in the table include:
- CareOne Plus (HMO-POS) — was CareOne Plus (HMO)
- Humana Dual Select H1036-102 (HMO D-SNP) — was Humana Gold Plus SNP-DE H1036-102 (HMO D-SNP)
- Humana Dual Select H1036-314 (HMO D-SNP) — was Humana Gold Plus SNP-DE H1036-314 (HMO D-SNP)
- Humana Dual Select H5216-394 (PPO D-SNP) — was HumanaChoice Florida SNP-DE H5216-394 (PPO D-SNP)
- Humana Value Choice (PPO) — was HumanaChoice Florida H5216-072 (PPO)
Your ANOC will spell out exactly what changed for your plan.
How to check a Humana plan against your doctors and prescriptions
This is the step most people skip, and it is the one that matters most. Before December 7:
1. Pull out your ANOC (mailed in September) and read the "changes for next year" pages. 2. Make a list of every doctor, specialist, hospital and pharmacy you want to keep using. 3. List every prescription you take, with the dose and how often. 4. Go to medicare.gov and open the Plan Finder. Enter your ZIP code and your drug list. The tool will show whether each 2027 plan covers your drugs and whether your providers are in-network. You can also call 1-800-MEDICARE (TTY 1-877-486-2048), available 24/7. 5. Confirm anything important by calling the plan directly and checking the plan's own provider directory and Evidence of Coverage. Networks change during the year, so a current provider is the safest signal.
If you take drugs that fall under Part D, remember the 2027 program-level numbers CMS has already published: the Part D out-of-pocket cap rises to $2,400 (from $2,100 in 2026), and the Part D maximum deductible rises to $700 (from $615 in 2026). The 2027 Part B standard premium and deductible, and the 2027 IRMAA income brackets, have not been announced yet — CMS typically releases those later in the fall.
Humana is one choice among many in Hillsborough County
We focused on Humana here because the question in your inbox was about Humana. For context: 17 other carriers also offer Medicare Advantage plans in Hillsborough County for 2027, and together all carriers offer 124 Medicare Advantage plans in the county next year. Nothing on this page is a recommendation of Humana over any other carrier. The right plan is the one that covers your doctors, your drugs and the way you like to get care.
What happens if you do nothing
If you take no action by December 7, and your current plan is still being offered in 2027, you stay enrolled. Your plan simply renews with the changes described in your ANOC. If your plan is one of the six Humana plans not returning, you will get a separate notice and a Special Enrollment Period to pick something else. There is also a Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period from January 1 through March 31, 2027, when people already in a Medicare Advantage plan can make one change.
