If you are enrolled in a Wellcare plan today, the Annual Notice of Change (ANOC) that landed in your mailbox in late September spells out exactly how your 2026 plan compares to its 2027 version — or whether it is going away. You have until Dec. 7, 2026 to make a change for coverage that starts Jan. 1, 2027.
MyMedicarePlans.org is an independent consumer site and is not affiliated with Wellcare, Centene or Medicare. Wellcare is one of 16 carriers offering Medicare Advantage plans in Miami-Dade for 2027; across all of them, the county has 101 plans.
What Wellcare Medicare Advantage plans are available in Miami for 2027?
In Miami-Dade County, Wellcare will offer six Medicare Advantage plans for 2027, and all six include Part D prescription drug coverage. By plan type, there are four HMOs and two HMO-POS plans. Four of the six are Dual-Eligible Special Needs Plans (D-SNPs), designed for people who have both Medicare and Medicaid. There are no Chronic Condition SNPs (C-SNPs) or Institutional SNPs (I-SNPs) in Wellcare's 2027 Miami-Dade roster.
The table below lists every Wellcare plan offered in the county for 2027, in alphabetical order, with its plan type and whether it includes drug coverage. Specific premiums, copays, deductibles, provider networks and drug lists live in each plan's official Summary of Benefits and Evidence of Coverage — not here.
Miami sits inside Miami-Dade County, and Medicare Advantage availability is set at the county level, so the same lineup applies whether you live in Miami, Hialeah, Homestead or anywhere else in the county.
What is new or not returning from Wellcare in Miami-Dade for 2027?
Four Wellcare plans that were sold in Miami-Dade in 2026 will not be offered in 2027. If you are enrolled in one of those plans, Wellcare was required to notify you in writing; that letter also explains your options.
Four plans are new for 2027: Wellcare Simple (HMO-POS), Wellcare Sunshine Health Dual Access (HMO-POS D-SNP), Wellcare Sunshine Health Dual Align (HMO D-SNP) and Wellcare Sunshine Health Dual Align Unity (HMO D-SNP).
Two plans are renamed versions of 2026 plans: Wellcare Giveback (HMO-POS) was previously Wellcare Giveback (HMO), and Wellcare Sunshine Health Dual Reserve (HMO-POS D-SNP) was previously Wellcare Dual Reserve (HMO D-SNP). A rename often — but not always — comes with other adjustments, so read the ANOC rather than assuming the plan is unchanged.
What are Special Needs Plans, and how many does Wellcare offer in Miami-Dade?
Special Needs Plans (SNPs) are Medicare Advantage plans built for people in specific situations. A D-SNP is for people enrolled in both Medicare and Medicaid; a C-SNP serves people with certain chronic conditions; an I-SNP serves people who live in a nursing facility or need that level of care at home.
Wellcare's 2027 Miami-Dade lineup includes four D-SNPs and no C-SNPs or I-SNPs. To join a D-SNP you generally must qualify for Florida Medicaid in addition to Medicare. If you are not sure whether you qualify, the Florida Department of Children and Families handles Medicaid eligibility, and medicare.gov can show which SNPs you may be able to join.
How do I check a Wellcare plan against my doctors and prescriptions before Dec. 7?
The fastest way to check a 2027 plan against your own doctors and medicines is the Medicare Plan Finder at medicare.gov/plan-compare. Create or log in to your account, enter your ZIP code and your prescriptions, then compare 2027 plans side by side; the tool flags whether each drug is on a plan's formulary and whether your pharmacy is in-network.
To confirm doctors and hospitals, use the carrier's own 2027 provider directory (available on the plan's website) or call the plan directly and ask about the specific providers you see. "In-network for 2026" does not automatically mean "in-network for 2027," so it is worth asking by name.
If you prefer the phone, 1-800-MEDICARE (1-800-633-4227) is open 24/7 and can walk you through the comparison. A few questions worth asking about any plan you are considering:
- Is each of my current doctors in the 2027 network?
- Is each of my prescriptions on the 2027 formulary, and at what tier?
- Is my preferred pharmacy in-network for 2027?
- Does the plan need a referral or prior authorization for the care I use most?
What are the Medicare dates and 2027 figures I should know?
The Annual Enrollment Period runs Oct. 15 through Dec. 7, 2026. Any change you make during that window takes effect Jan. 1, 2027. If you do nothing, your current plan renews for 2027 as long as it is still offered — with whatever changes are described in your ANOC.
If you end up in a Medicare Advantage plan on Jan. 1 and want to switch to a different Advantage plan or back to Original Medicare, the Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period runs Jan. 1 through March 31, 2027.
