MyMedicarePlans.org is an independent consumer news site. We are not Anthem and we are not Medicare. Our goal here is simple: show you Anthem's full Tampa-area lineup for 2027, explain what changed, and point you to the official tools to check a plan against your own doctors and prescriptions before December 7, 2026.
What Anthem is offering in the Tampa area for 2027
Medicare Advantage availability is set at the county level, so when we say "Tampa," the official roster is Hillsborough County's. For 2027, Anthem's lineup here breaks down this way:
- 15 Medicare Advantage plans total
- 14 HMO plans and 1 HMO-POS plan
- 10 Special Needs Plans (4 Dual-Eligible SNPs, 6 Chronic Condition SNPs, 0 Institutional SNPs)
- All 15 plans include Part D prescription drug coverage
The table below lists every Anthem plan available in the county for 2027 by name and type. We are not attaching any premium, copay, benefit, network, or star rating to a plan name — those details change by plan and belong on the official Medicare Plan Finder and in each plan's own documents.
Anthem is one of 18 carriers offering Medicare Advantage in Hillsborough County next year. Across all carriers, 124 plans will be available locally, so if an Anthem plan is not a match for you, there is a wider market to compare.

What is changing from 2026
Year over year, Anthem's Tampa-area roster is smaller:
- Plans not returning for 2027: 8
- New plans for 2027: 0
- Renamed plans: 0
If you are enrolled in one of the eight plans leaving the market, Anthem is required to send you a non-renewal notice. You will have a Special Enrollment Period in addition to the Annual Enrollment Period to pick a different plan. For plans that are continuing, the key document is the Annual Notice of Change (ANOC) that arrived in September. The ANOC lists exactly what is different between your 2026 plan and the 2027 version — premium, drug tiers, provider rules, extra benefits.
Special Needs Plans in the lineup
More than half of Anthem's 2027 plans here are Special Needs Plans. These are only for people who meet specific eligibility rules:
- D-SNPs are for people enrolled in both Medicare and Florida Medicaid.
- C-SNPs are for people living with a qualifying chronic condition (diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and COPD are common examples; the plan documents say which conditions qualify).
If you do not qualify for a D-SNP or C-SNP, you cannot enroll in one, even if the plan name catches your eye. Anthem's non-SNP HMOs and the single HMO-POS plan are the general-eligibility options in the lineup.
How to check a plan against your doctors and prescriptions
Before December 7, these are the three checks that matter most:
1. Your doctors and hospitals. Call the plan or use its online provider directory to confirm each one is in-network for 2027 — not 2026. Networks change. 2. Your prescriptions. Enter every drug (name, dose, how often) on the Medicare Plan Finder at medicare.gov. The tool shows the 2027 formulary tier, any prior-authorization or step-therapy rules, and the estimated yearly cost at the pharmacy you use. 3. The total picture. Look at the plan's premium, deductible, copays for the care you actually use, and the maximum out-of-pocket. A low premium is not the same as low total cost.
Two 2027 program-level numbers are worth keeping in mind as you shop:
- The Part D out-of-pocket cap on prescription drugs rises to $2,400 in 2027 (it is $2,100 in 2026).
- The Part D maximum deductible rises to $700 in 2027 (it is $615 in 2026).
CMS has not yet published the 2027 Part B standard premium and deductible, or the 2027 IRMAA income brackets. Those usually come out in November — check medicare.gov for the official announcement before you finalize a decision based on cost.
Dates to remember
- October 15 – December 7, 2026: Annual Enrollment Period. Any change takes effect January 1, 2027.
- January 1 – March 31, 2027: Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period. If you are already in a Medicare Advantage plan on January 1, you can switch to another MA plan or go back to Original Medicare once during this window.
- If you do nothing and your plan is still offered, it renews automatically with the changes described in your ANOC.
