TALLAHASSEE — Florida's Medicare Advantage menu is getting a round of new entries for 2027. Key takeaways
- Florida has 73 new Medicare Advantage plans for 2027 out of 560 total, from 15 carriers listed in the tables on this page.
- A "new" plan has no Star Rating yet and no local track record, because CMS Star Ratings are built from prior-year data.
- The Annual Enrollment Period runs October 15 – December 7, 2026, and any choice you make takes effect January 1, 2027.
- Confirm county availability, doctors and prescriptions on Medicare.gov or by calling 1-800-MEDICARE before you enroll.
Because Medicare Advantage is sold county by county, a plan listed as "new in Florida" may or may not be offered where you live. The point of this explainer is to show what's on the statewide board, how to check your own ZIP code, and when to act.
How many plans are new, and which carriers offer them
Of the 560 Medicare Advantage plans available in Florida for 2027, 73 are new for the year. The 15 carriers introducing new plans are Aetna (CVS Health) with 8, Align Senior Care with 2, AmeriHealth Caritas VIP Care (HMO-D-SNP) with 1, Centene (WellCare) with 5, Devoted Health with 22, Doctors HealthCare Plans, Inc. with 7, Florida Blue with 2, Florida Blue HMO with 5, Gold Kidney Health Plan with 4, Humana with 11, Prominence Health Plan with 1, SECUR Health Plan with 1, Solis Health Plans with 1, Ultimate Health Plans with 1, and UnitedHealthcare with 2.
Devoted Health has the largest number of new plan contracts in Florida for 2027, and Humana is next. The full plan-by-plan list is in the tables on this page.
New plans with the widest county reach
Reach matters because a plan offered in more counties is more likely to appear in your Plan Finder results. Among new plans for 2027, the following have the broadest Florida footprints according to the CMS Landscape file:
- Humana Essentials Plus Giveback (PPO) — 37 counties
- Humana Dual Integrated (PPO D-SNP) — 36 counties
- BlueMedicare Patriot Plus (PPO) from Florida Blue — 34 counties
- UHC Dual Complete FL-Y5 (HMO-POS D-SNP) from UnitedHealthcare — 24 counties
- Gold Heart & Diabetes Plus (HMO-POS C-SNP) from Gold Kidney Health Plan — 21 counties
- Wellcare Sunshine Health Dual Access (HMO-POS D-SNP) and Wellcare Sunshine Health Dual Align (HMO D-SNP) from Centene (WellCare) — 20 counties each
- AARP Medicare Advantage Giveback from UHC FL-40 (HMO-POS) from UnitedHealthcare — 19 counties
- Premier Care (HMO I-SNP) and Senior Care (HMO I-SNP) from Align Senior Care — 15 counties each
Several other new plans are offered in only one or two counties — for example, DrMax-Dade (HMO) from Doctors HealthCare Plans, Prominence Meridian (HMO-POS), and BlueMedicare Select (PPO). The county tables on this page show every new plan at its exact county count.
What "new" actually means
A new plan in Florida for 2027 is a plan the carrier did not offer anywhere in the state in 2026. That carries a practical consequence: new Medicare Advantage plans do not have a CMS Star Rating in their first year, because Star Ratings are compiled from the prior year's quality, member-experience and complaint data. There is also no local history of claim handling, provider turnover or member reviews yet. This is a fact about timing, not a judgment of the plan — some new plans are brand-new designs from established carriers, while others are from carriers relatively new to a given Florida county.
If a Star Rating or member track record matters to you in a decision, that information will not be available for a plan's debut year.
Checking if a new plan is offered in your county — and covers your doctors and drugs
Statewide availability is not the same as county availability. The CMS Landscape file is organized plan-by-county, and a plan "new in Florida" may only serve a handful of counties. To check for your address:
1. Go to medicare.gov and open the Plan Finder. 2. Enter your ZIP code and, if you take prescriptions, your drug list. 3. Filter for Medicare Advantage plans. New plans will appear alongside returning ones. 4. Open each plan of interest and review the full plan details on medicare.gov. 5. Confirm your doctors, hospitals and pharmacies by checking the plan's provider directory and, for prescriptions, the plan's formulary. The plan's Evidence of Coverage is the authoritative source for benefits and rules.
Plan-level details — premium, deductible, copays, extra benefits, prior-authorization rules, service area — all come from the plan documents and Plan Finder, not from this article.
What to do before December 7
The Annual Enrollment Period for 2027 coverage runs October 15, 2026 through December 7, 2026. Enrollments and plan changes made in that window take effect January 1, 2027. A short checklist:
- Read your current plan's Annual Notice of Change (ANOC), which carriers send in the fall, so you know what is changing in your 2026 plan going into 2027.
- Make a current list of your prescriptions (name, dose, frequency) and your providers.
- Run your ZIP code through the Plan Finder at medicare.gov and compare any new 2027 plans that appear with your current coverage.
- If a plan is a Special Needs Plan (D-SNP, C-SNP, or I-SNP), confirm you qualify. Many of Florida's new 2027 plans — including offerings from Aetna, AmeriHealth Caritas VIP Care, Centene (WellCare), Devoted Health, Doctors HealthCare Plans, Florida Blue HMO, Gold Kidney Health Plan, Humana, SECUR Health Plan, Solis Health Plans, Ultimate Health Plans and UnitedHealthcare — are SNPs with eligibility requirements.
- Make your choice by December 7, 2026.
