This is a plain-English guide to what Anthem's Fulton County lineup looks like for next year and how to check any plan against your own doctors and prescriptions before the December 7, 2026 deadline. MyMedicarePlans.org is an independent consumer site; we are not Anthem and not affiliated with Medicare. Nine other carriers also sell Medicare Advantage plans in Fulton County for 2027.

How many Anthem Medicare Advantage plans are offered in Atlanta for 2027?

Anthem will offer six Medicare Advantage plans in Fulton County, the county Atlanta sits in, for 2027. By plan type, that is two HMOs, three HMO-POS plans and one PPO. All six include Part D prescription drug coverage. Three of the six are Special Needs Plans: two Dual Eligible SNPs (D-SNPs) and one Chronic Condition SNP (C-SNP).

For context from the CMS Landscape file, nine other carriers also sell Medicare Advantage plans in Fulton County next year, with 90 plans across all carriers combined. The table below lists every Anthem plan available in the county for 2027.

What is new or not returning in Anthem's 2027 Atlanta lineup?

Compared with 2026, Anthem has one new Medicare Advantage plan in Fulton County for 2027 — Anthem Medicare Advantage 2 (HMO-POS) — and three plans that are not returning. No Anthem plans in the county were renamed.

If you are currently enrolled in an Anthem plan that is not continuing, Anthem is required to send you a notice. You then have options during the Annual Enrollment Period (October 15 – December 7, 2026) to pick a different plan for January 1, 2027, including another Anthem plan, a plan from a different carrier, or Original Medicare with a separate Part D plan. If your plan is continuing, your Annual Notice of Change describes what is different for 2027 — the premium, the drug list, the provider network, the copays, and the extra benefits can all change year to year.

Which Anthem plans in Fulton County include drug coverage, and which are Special Needs Plans?

All six Anthem Medicare Advantage plans offered in Fulton County for 2027 include Part D drug coverage.

Three of them are Special Needs Plans, meaning they only accept members who meet specific eligibility rules:

The other three — Anthem Medicare Advantage 2 (HMO-POS), Anthem Veteran (HMO-POS) and Anthem Veteran (PPO) — are open to anyone eligible for Medicare Advantage in the service area, though the "Veteran" plans are designed around people who also have VA benefits.

How do I check an Anthem plan against my doctors and prescriptions before December 7?

Use the Medicare Plan Finder at medicare.gov or call 1-800-MEDICARE (1-800-633-4227), which is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The Plan Finder lets you type in your ZIP code, add your prescriptions and your preferred pharmacy, and see each plan's estimated yearly drug cost, formulary tier and any coverage restrictions.

A short checklist that works for any Anthem plan — or any carrier's plan — in Fulton County:

1. Doctors and hospitals. Confirm each provider is in-network for the specific plan you are considering. Call the provider's office and ask about the exact plan name, not just "Anthem." 2. Prescriptions. Check the plan's 2027 formulary for each drug, the tier it sits on, and whether prior authorization or step therapy applies. 3. Pharmacies. Check that your pharmacy is a preferred in-network pharmacy; cost-sharing can differ at standard vs. preferred pharmacies. 4. Extra benefits. Dental, vision, hearing, over-the-counter and transportation benefits vary by plan and change year to year — read the 2027 Summary of Benefits. 5. If it is a SNP, confirm you meet the eligibility rules (Medicaid status or qualifying chronic condition).

What is changing in Medicare itself for 2027?

A couple of program-wide numbers are already set. The Part D out-of-pocket cap rises to $2,400 in 2027 (it is $2,100 in 2026), and the Part D maximum deductible rises to $700 in 2027 (it is $615 in 2026). The Part D national base beneficiary premium for 2027 is $41.33 — that is a formula input Medicare uses, not what any particular plan charges.

The 2027 Part B standard premium and deductible, and the 2027 IRMAA income brackets, have not been announced yet. CMS usually publishes them later in the fall. If you want those numbers before you decide, watch medicare.gov.

Two dates to keep in mind:

If you do nothing and your current plan is still offered, it renews automatically for 2027 with the changes in your ANOC.

Frequently asked questions

How do I know if my current Anthem plan is still available in Atlanta for 2027?
Anthem is required to send a notice if your plan is being discontinued. If you did not get one, your plan is continuing, and your Annual Notice of Change (ANOC) explains what is different for 2027. You can also confirm by looking up your plan on the Medicare Plan Finder at medicare.gov or calling 1-800-MEDICARE.
What happens if I do nothing during Annual Enrollment?
If your current plan is offered in Fulton County for 2027, you stay enrolled and the plan renews on January 1, 2027 with the updates in your ANOC. If your plan is not returning, you can be moved to Original Medicare or, in some cases, to a similar plan from the same carrier — read any notice from Anthem carefully and compare your options before December 7, 2026.
Can I join an Anthem Special Needs Plan if I only have Medicare?
No. The Anthem D-SNPs in Fulton County require both Medicare and Medicaid eligibility, and the Anthem C-SNP (Kidney Care) requires a qualifying diagnosis of end-stage renal disease. The plan verifies eligibility at enrollment.
Where can I get help comparing Anthem plans to other carriers in Atlanta?
Medicare.gov's Plan Finder lets you compare every Medicare Advantage plan sold in Fulton County side by side using your own doctors and drug list. You can also call 1-800-MEDICARE 24/7, or contact Anthem directly for details on a specific plan. Nine other carriers also offer Medicare Advantage plans in the county for 2027, so it is worth looking at the full picture before December 7.
