Compare 161 Georgia Medicare Advantage Plans for 2027 From 12 Carriers

ATLANTA — Georgians who want to use the fall window to look at Medicare Advantage coverage for 2027 have a defined set of options to work through. According to the CMS Medicare Advantage Landscape Source Files for CY2026 and CY2027, Georgia will have 161 Medicare Advantage plans available statewide for the 2027 plan year, offered by 12 carriers. Key takeaways

  • Georgia has 161 Medicare Advantage plans for 2027 from 12 carriers, and all 161 include drug coverage.
  • 17 plans are new for 2027 and 22 plans from 2026 are not returning, so current enrollees should read their Annual Notice of Change.
  • Plans are offered county by county, so the plan list you can actually choose from depends on where you live.
  • The Annual Enrollment Period is October 15 through December 7, 2026, and a choice made in that window starts January 1, 2027.

The statewide numbers for 2027

The CMS Landscape files show 161 Medicare Advantage plans in Georgia for 2027 across 12 carriers. All 161 include Part D prescription drug coverage. Year over year, 17 plans are new for 2027 and 22 plans available in 2026 are not returning for 2027. Those two numbers are the ones to keep in mind if you are already enrolled: a plan being "not returning" is different from a plan simply changing its details, and your Annual Notice of Change (ANOC) from your current carrier will tell you which situation applies to you.

Statewide totals describe the market, not your personal menu. A plan listed in the statewide count may or may not be offered in your county. The way to see your actual choices is to run your ZIP code through the Medicare Plan Finder at medicare.gov.

Plan types and Special Needs Plans

By plan type, the 2027 Georgia count breaks down into 48 HMO plans, 23 HMO-POS plans, 89 PPO plans, and 1 PFFS plan. Each type handles networks and referrals differently, and the specific rules live in each plan's Evidence of Coverage.

Georgia's 2027 Special Needs Plan (SNP) count includes 39 Dual Eligible SNPs (D-SNP) for people with both Medicare and Medicaid, 16 Chronic Condition SNPs (C-SNP) for people with qualifying conditions, and 7 Institutional SNPs (I-SNP) for people who live in or need the level of care provided in certain institutions. SNPs have eligibility rules, so not everyone can enroll in one.

The carriers offering plans in Georgia for 2027

Twelve carriers are listed in the CMS Landscape file for Georgia for 2027. In alphabetical order with statewide plan counts, they are: Aetna (CVS Health) with 22 plans, Blue Cross Blue Shield (HCSC) with 20, BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee with 3, Centene (WellCare) with 15, Clover Health with 4, Devoted Health with 17, Elevance Health (Anthem) with 6, Georgia Health Advantage with 2, Humana with 38, Kaiser Permanente with 10, PruittHealth Premier with 3, and UnitedHealthcare with 21. A full carrier and plan table appears elsewhere on this page.

Carrier counts are statewide. A carrier that offers many plans across Georgia may offer only some of those plans — or none — in your specific county, and a smaller carrier may be a strong fit where it is available. The point of the carrier list is to show the field you can compare from; it is not a ranking.

How to compare the plans in your own county, step by step

Once you have the statewide picture, the work happens at the county level. A practical order:

1. Pull your current plan's Annual Notice of Change (ANOC). It arrives by late September and spells out what will change on January 1, 2027 — including whether your plan is one of the 22 not returning for 2027. 2. Make a short list of what you need the plan to cover: your doctors, your hospital or health system, your regular prescriptions (name, dose, frequency), and the pharmacies you actually use. 3. Open the Medicare Plan Finder at medicare.gov. Enter your ZIP code and your drug list. The tool will show the plans offered in your county for 2027 and let you compare them side by side. 4. For each plan on your shortlist, confirm your doctors and hospitals in that plan's provider directory, and confirm each prescription on that plan's formulary at the pharmacy you intend to use. Directories and formularies live with the plan itself. 5. Read the Evidence of Coverage for the specific rules — referrals, prior authorization, out-of-network coverage, and how the plan handles things like travel. 6. Write down the plan name and contract/plan ID before you enroll. Plans with similar names can be different products.

If you want to switch between Original Medicare and Medicare Advantage, or add or change a Part D plan, the Annual Enrollment Period is the window to do it.

What to do before December 7

Before December 7, 2026, do three things: read your ANOC, run the Plan Finder with your real drug list and ZIP code, and verify doctors, hospitals, and pharmacies with the plan directly. If you take no action and your current plan is returning for 2027, you generally stay in it with the 2027 terms. If your plan is one of the 22 not returning for 2027, your ANOC and plan letters will explain your options and any default action.

The deadline is a date on the calendar, not a countdown. Give yourself enough time to read a document twice if you need to.

22 plans available in Georgia in 2026 are not returning for 2027. If yours is one of them, your Annual Notice of Change and plan letters will explain what that means for you and the window you have to pick a different plan. You can also call 1-800-MEDICARE.
When does a plan I pick during open enrollment start?
The Annual Enrollment Period runs October 15 through December 7, 2026, and a choice made during that window takes effect January 1, 2027.
