BOISE, Fall 2026 — The Medicare Advantage lineup Ada County residents will choose from during Annual Enrollment 2027 looks different from this year's. One familiar carrier is leaving the county, a new one is arriving, four plans are new for January, and nine plans will not be back. The Annual Enrollment Period runs October 15 through December 7, 2026, and the choices you make during that window take effect January 1, 2027.
What is changing in Boise's Medicare Advantage lineup for 2027?
In Ada County, where Boise is located, nine Medicare Advantage plans are leaving after 2026, four plans are new for 2027, and eighteen continue. Five plans are being renamed, and ten plans have at least one change to premium, deductible, type or name. The county's 2026 lineup included 32 plans from 7 carriers, with 11 HMOs, 6 HMO-POS plans and 15 PPOs; 9 of those were Special Needs Plans and 25 included drug coverage. The table below lists every plan currently offered in the county.
For 2027, the biggest shift is at the carrier level: Saint Alphonsus Health Plan will not offer Medicare Advantage plans in Ada County, and St. Luke's Health Plan is entering the county for the first time.
Which Medicare Advantage plans are leaving Boise after 2026?
Nine plans available in Ada County in 2026 will not be offered in 2027. In alphabetical order by carrier, they are:
- Humana — Humana Essentials Plus Giveback H5216-429 (PPO); HumanaChoice - Diabetes and Heart (PPO C-SNP)
- Molina Healthcare of Utah & Idaho — Molina Medicare Complete Care Select (HMO D-SNP)
- PacificSource Medicare — PacificSource Medicare Explorer 6 (PPO); PacificSource Medicare MyCare Choice Rx 24 (HMO-POS)
- Saint Alphonsus Health Plan — Saint Alphonsus Health Plan Cash Back (HMO); Saint Alphonsus Health Plan Choice (PPO); Saint Alphonsus Health Plan Glory No RX (HMO); Saint Alphonsus Health Plan No Premium (HMO)
If you are in one of these plans, your insurer is required to send you a non-renewal notice. You do not lose Medicare — only this particular plan ends. You have the regular Annual Enrollment window (through December 7, 2026) plus a Special Enrollment Period that runs from December 8, 2026 through the end of February 2027 to pick a new Medicare Advantage plan or switch to Original Medicare with a stand-alone Part D plan.
Which Medicare Advantage plans are new in Boise for 2027?
Four plans are new in Ada County for 2027:
- PacificSource Medicare — PacificSource Medicare Idaho Basic (HMO-POS); PacificSource Medicare River Select Rx (HMO-POS)
- St. Luke's Health Plan — St. Luke's Advantage Rx 01 (HMO)
- UnitedHealthcare — UHC Dual Complete ID-YL (HMO-POS D-SNP)
St. Luke's Health Plan is a new carrier for the county, so this is the first year its Medicare Advantage plan will appear on the Boise shelf. For details on premium, cost-sharing, provider networks and drug formularies, use the Medicare Plan Finder at medicare.gov or read the plan's Summary of Benefits.
Who else is selling Medicare Advantage in Ada County in 2027?
Based on the current roster, the carriers continuing in Ada County alongside the newcomer include American Health Advantage of Utah, Blue Cross of Idaho, Humana, Molina Healthcare of Utah & Idaho, PacificSource Medicare and UnitedHealthcare. Humana has renamed four of its continuing plans, and UnitedHealthcare has renamed one — the plan is the same underlying contract, just with a cleaner name. Those renames appear in the table so you can match the 2026 name you remember with the 2027 name on your paperwork.
What should Boise residents do during Annual Enrollment 2027?
Three things, in order. First, read your plan's Annual Notice of Change (ANOC), which arrives by late September — it spells out every change for 2027 in the plan you already have. Second, if your plan is on the leaving list above, choose a new plan during Annual Enrollment or use the Special Enrollment Period that follows. Third, compare the full 2027 lineup on medicare.gov's Plan Finder using your prescriptions, your doctors and the pharmacies you use.
A couple of program-level numbers worth knowing as you compare drug coverage: for 2027, the Part D out-of-pocket cap rises to $2,400 (it is $2,100 in 2026), and the Part D maximum deductible is $700 (up from $615 in 2026). CMS has not yet published the 2027 Part B standard premium, Part B deductible or IRMAA income brackets; those typically come out in November.
If you do nothing and your current plan is continuing, you stay enrolled under the 2027 terms in your ANOC. If your plan is not continuing, you need to act — otherwise you will land back in Original Medicare on January 1 without a Part D plan.
