GARLAND, Texas — Fall 2026. The Annual Enrollment Period for 2027 Medicare coverage runs Oct. 15 through Dec. 7, 2026, and the carrier lineup Garland shoppers will see on the Medicare Plan Finder this year looks different from last year's. Garland sits in Dallas County, where CMS records show 20 Medicare Advantage plans new for 2027, 29 plans leaving after 2026, one carrier exiting the county and one carrier coming in.

Here is what the carrier-by-carrier picture looks like for Garland residents comparing their options this fall.

Which carriers sell Medicare Advantage in Garland for 2027?

Garland is in Dallas County, where 12 carriers offered Medicare Advantage plans for 2026: Aetna (CVS Health), American Health Advantage of Texas, Baylor Scott & White Health Plan, Blue Cross Blue Shield (HCSC), Centene (WellCare), Elevance Health (Anthem), Humana, Molina Healthcare of Texas, ProCare Advantage, Provider Partners Health Plans, UnitedHealthcare and Verda Health Plan of Texas.

For 2027, American Health Advantage of Texas is leaving the county, and Texas Independence Health Plan is entering. The remaining carriers continue, though several are reshuffling their plan menus. The table on this page lists every plan offered for the current year by carrier and type.

What plan types are offered in Dallas County?

Dallas County's 2026 lineup included 93 Medicare Advantage plans across four plan types: 36 HMO, 20 HMO-POS, 35 PPO and 2 PFFS. Of those, 81 included Part D drug coverage and 35 were Special Needs Plans (SNPs) for people with specific conditions, dual Medicare-Medicaid eligibility or who live in an institutional setting.

If you are not sure how an HMO differs from a PPO or a SNP, the "Plan types" section at medicare.gov walks through the trade-offs on referrals, out-of-network care and eligibility.

Which Medicare Advantage plans are new for 2027 in Dallas County?

CMS lists 20 new Medicare Advantage plans in Dallas County for 2027. By carrier, those are:

A noticeable share of the new 2027 plans are Special Needs Plans aimed at people who qualify for both Medicare and Medicaid, or who have a chronic condition such as diabetes, heart disease or kidney disease.

Which plans are not returning to Garland in 2027?

CMS data shows 29 Medicare Advantage plans leaving Dallas County after 2026. The carriers with the largest changes are Blue Cross Blue Shield (HCSC), with 11 plans not returning (including Blue Cross Medicare Advantage Choice Plus, Choice Premier, Classic, Dental Premier, Dental Value, Dual Care Plus, Health Choice, Optimum, Protect, Saver and Value, plus HealthSpring True Choice Savings), and Humana, with four PPO or PFFS plans leaving (Humana Gold Choice H8145-084, Humana USAA Honor Giveback, and the Humana Value Choice H5216-352 and H7617-043 versions).

Aetna is dropping Aetna Medicare Enhanced (PPO); Baylor Scott & White is ending BSW SeniorCare Advantage Essentials (HMO-POS); Centene is ending Wellcare Giveback (HMO); Elevance Health is ending the current Wellpoint Dual Advantage, Dual Advantage 2 and Full Dual Advantage D-SNPs; UnitedHealthcare is ending five plans including AARP Medicare Advantage from UHC TX-0005 (PPO) and three UHC Dual Complete D-SNPs. American Health Advantage of Texas (HMO I-SNP) is leaving because the carrier itself is exiting the county.

What should I do if my Medicare Advantage plan is leaving?

If your plan is on the "not returning" list for 2027, Medicare gives you a Special Enrollment Period to choose a new Medicare Advantage plan or return to Original Medicare with a stand-alone Part D drug plan. Your plan is required to send you a non-renewal notice before the end of the year explaining your options and timing.

Even outside that situation, every current enrollee should receive an Annual Notice of Change (ANOC) by late September describing what is different about the same plan for 2027. If you do nothing during Annual Enrollment, your current plan renews automatically on Jan. 1, 2027 with the changes in that ANOC — nine plans in Dallas County are keeping the same benefits but changing names for 2027, and 22 continuing plans have at least one change to premium, deductible, name or plan type.

What is confirmed for 2027 costs so far?

CMS has confirmed a few program-wide figures for 2027. The Part D out-of-pocket cap rises to $2,400 in 2027, up from $2,100 in 2026. The maximum Part D deductible a plan can charge is $700 in 2027, up from $615 in 2026. The Part D national base beneficiary premium for 2027 is $41.33, which is a formula input and not what any individual plan charges.

The 2027 Part B standard premium and deductible, and the 2027 IRMAA income brackets, have not yet been announced. CMS typically publishes those in the fall, usually in November.

When is the deadline, and where should I compare plans?

The Annual Enrollment Period for 2027 Medicare coverage runs Oct. 15 through Dec. 7, 2026. Changes you make during that window take effect Jan. 1, 2027. After that, Medicare Advantage members have a separate Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period from Jan. 1 through March 31, 2027, which allows one switch to a different Advantage plan or back to Original Medicare.

The Medicare Plan Finder at medicare.gov is the official place to compare each 2027 plan's premium, deductible, network and drug coverage for your specific ZIP code and prescriptions. You can also call 1-800-MEDICARE, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, for help.

Frequently asked questions

When do I need to make a change for 2027 coverage?
The Annual Enrollment Period runs Oct. 15 through Dec. 7, 2026. Any Medicare Advantage or Part D change you make during that window starts Jan. 1, 2027. If you do nothing, your current plan renews automatically with the changes described in its Annual Notice of Change.
My Medicare Advantage plan is not returning in 2027. What happens?
Your plan must send you a non-renewal notice. You qualify for a Special Enrollment Period to pick a different Medicare Advantage plan or move to Original Medicare with a stand-alone Part D drug plan. Medicare.gov and 1-800-MEDICARE can walk you through the timing.
Which carriers sell Medicare Advantage plans in Garland?
Garland is in Dallas County, which had 12 Medicare Advantage carriers for 2026. For 2027, American Health Advantage of Texas is leaving the county and Texas Independence Health Plan is new to it. The rest of the carriers continue, though many have added, dropped or renamed individual plans.
Where can I see every 2027 plan with its costs and network?
The Medicare Plan Finder at medicare.gov lets you compare each 2027 plan's premium, deductible, drug list and provider network by ZIP code. You can also call 1-800-MEDICARE for personalized help at any time of day.
