Plano's 2027 Medicare Advantage lineup: what's new, what's leaving, and who's new in town

For 2027, Plano is looking at 81 Medicare Advantage plans: 21 new, 37 gone since 2026, and 30 still here but changed on premium, deductible, plan type or name, 9 of them under a new name. Below, how the lineup shifted in Collin County and what to compare, with no plan ranked or recommended.

Plano, Texas — Fall 2026 is Medicare shopping season, and the 2027 lineup for Collin County looks different from the one on offer today. A new carrier is coming in, one carrier is leaving, and dozens of individual plans are either new, renamed, or ending at the stroke of midnight on Dec. 31, 2026. Here is a plain-language look at what Plano residents will see when the Annual Enrollment Period opens Oct. 15, 2026 and closes Dec. 7, 2026.

How many Medicare Advantage plans are offered in Plano for 2027?

Plano sits in Collin County, where Medicare Advantage availability is set at the county level. For 2026, the county has 97 Medicare Advantage plans from 12 carriers. The breakdown by type is 37 HMO, 26 HMO-POS, 32 PPO and 2 PFFS, and 38 of those plans are Special Needs Plans built for people with specific health or financial situations. Eighty-four of the 97 include Part D drug coverage.

For 2027, the mix shifts: 51 plans are continuing, 37 are leaving the county after 2026, 21 are new, and 9 are keeping the same contract but changing their name. Another 21 continuing plans are changing something about premium, deductible, type or name — Medicare's rules keep us from quoting the dollar figures here, but the plan's own Annual Notice of Change spells them out. The table below lists every plan on offer.

Which carriers are coming and going in Collin County for 2027?

One carrier is exiting Collin County for 2027: American Health Advantage of Texas, which offers a single Institutional Special Needs Plan today. One carrier is new: Texas Independence Health Plan, which is bringing two Institutional Special Needs Plans (Texas Independence Community Plan and Texas Independence Health Plan, Inc.) to the county.

The other 11 carriers — Aetna (CVS Health), Baylor Scott & White Health Plan, Blue Cross Blue Shield (HCSC), Centene (WellCare), Elevance Health (Anthem), Humana, Molina Healthcare of Texas, ProCare Advantage, Provider Partners Health Plans, UnitedHealthcare and Verda Health Plan of Texas — are all returning, though several are reshaping their lineups.

Which Medicare Advantage plans are leaving Plano after 2026?

Thirty-seven plans end on Dec. 31, 2026 in Collin County. The biggest reshuffle is at Blue Cross Blue Shield (HCSC), where the Blue Cross Medicare Advantage line — Choice Plus, Choice Premier, Classic, Dental Premier, Dental Value, Dual Care Plus, Health Choice, Optimum, Protect, Saver and Value — plus HealthSpring True Choice Savings are all exiting. Aetna is retiring Aetna Medicare Enhanced (PPO) and Aetna Medicare Signature (PPO). Centene is ending Wellcare Dual Liberty and Wellcare Giveback. Elevance Health is dropping three Wellpoint D-SNPs (Dual Advantage, Dual Advantage 2 and Full Dual Advantage), though some of those names reappear with new 2027 contracts.

Humana is closing both Humana Gold Choice PFFS plans (H8145-084 and H8145-126), one Humana USAA Honor Giveback PPO and HumanaChoice H5216-042. UnitedHealthcare is sunsetting the full Erickson Advantage family (Champion, Freedom, Guardian, Liberty, Liberty no Rx and Signature), AARP Medicare Advantage from UHC TX-0005 (PPO), AARP Medicare Advantage Patriot No Rx TX-MA06 (PPO), UHC Complete Care Support TX-1A, and three UHC Dual Complete plans (TX-D004, TX-S003 and TX-V007). American Health Advantage of Texas's single HMO I-SNP and Baylor Scott & White's BSW SeniorCare Advantage Essentials (HMO-POS) are also leaving.

Which Medicare Advantage plans are new in Plano for 2027?

Twenty-one plans are new to Collin County for 2027. Aetna is adding Aetna Medicare Enhanced Extra (PPO), Aetna Medicare QMB Only Care (HMO D-SNP) and Aetna Medicare Signature (HMO). Blue Cross Blue Shield (HCSC) is launching HealthSpring TotalCare Plus (HMO D-SNP). Centene is introducing Wellcare Superior HealthPlan Dual Reserve Value (HMO D-SNP). Elevance Health is bringing in a refreshed slate of Wellpoint D-SNPs: Wellpoint Dual Advantage, Wellpoint Dual Advantage Plus and Wellpoint Full Dual Advantage.

Humana has the most new entries: Humana DaVita Kidney Care (PPO C-SNP), Humana Essentials Plus Giveback (PPO), Humana Together in Health (PPO I-SNP), Humana Value Choice (PPO), HumanaChoice Giveback H5216-358 (PPO) and HumanaChoice H5216-352 (PPO). UnitedHealthcare is adding four new Dual Special Needs Plans: UHC Dual Advantage TX-V11, UHC Dual Complete TX-Q6, UHC Dual Complete TX-S6 and UHC Dual Complete TX-YL2. Texas Independence Health Plan rounds out the newcomers with Texas Independence Community Plan (HMO I-SNP) and Texas Independence Health Plan, Inc. (HMO I-SNP).

What happens if my Plano Medicare Advantage plan is not returning in 2027?

If your plan is on the "leaving" list, your carrier is required to send you a non-renewal notice this fall. You will not lose Medicare — Original Medicare (Part A and Part B) stays in place automatically. What you lose is the Medicare Advantage policy itself, as of Dec. 31, 2026.

Because the plan is being discontinued, you qualify for a Special Enrollment Period that runs from Dec. 8, 2026 through Feb. 28, 2027. During that window you can switch to another Medicare Advantage plan or go back to Original Medicare and add a stand-alone Part D drug plan. You can also use the regular Annual Enrollment Period (Oct. 15 – Dec. 7, 2026) to make a change that takes effect Jan. 1, 2027, which avoids any gap.

What else is changing for 2027 that Plano readers should know?

A few program-level numbers are already set. For 2027, the Part D out-of-pocket cap rises to $2,400 (up from $2,100 in 2026), the Part D maximum deductible is $700 (up from $615 in 2026), and the Part D national base beneficiary premium — a formula input, not what any one plan charges — is $41.33. The 2027 Part B standard premium and deductible, and the 2027 IRMAA income brackets, had not been published by CMS as of September 2026; they typically come out in November.

Also worth noting: nine plans in Collin County are being renamed for 2027 but are otherwise the same contract. Examples include Aetna Medicare Prime Chronic Total becoming Aetna Medicare Chronic Care Total, several Wellcare D-SNPs picking up the "Superior HealthPlan" label, and UHC Medicare Advantage TX-0030 becoming AARP Medicare Advantage from UHC TX-61. If your plan's name looks different in your mail this fall, check the contract number before you assume anything changed.
