Detroit — October 2026. If you have a Medicare Advantage plan in the Detroit area, this fall's mail is worth opening carefully. The lineup for 2027 in Wayne County shifts in both directions: 12 plans are new, 16 are not coming back, and dozens more are continuing with some kind of change. The Annual Enrollment Period runs October 15 through December 7, 2026, and any choice you make takes effect January 1, 2027.

Detroit is in Wayne County, and Medicare Advantage availability is set at the county level. That means the plan menu described here applies across Wayne County, not just inside the Detroit city limits.

What the 2027 lineup looks like in Wayne County

For plan year 2026, Wayne County has 90 Medicare Advantage plans from 16 carriers. By plan type that breaks down to 31 HMOs, 18 HMO-POS plans and 41 PPOs. All 90 include Part D drug coverage, and 21 are Special Needs Plans (SNPs) built for people with a qualifying condition, people on both Medicare and Medicaid, or people who live in an institution.

The 16 carriers serving the county are Aetna (CVS Health), Align Senior Care, AmeriHealth Caritas VIP Care, Blue Care Network, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, Centene (WellCare), HAP CareSource MI Coordinated Health, Health Alliance Plan by Henry Ford Health, Humana, Longevity Health Plan, McLaren Medicare, Molina Healthcare of Michigan, Priority Health Medicare, Trinity Health Plan of Michigan, UnitedHealthcare and Zing Health. The two biggest menus come from Humana (16 plans) and from Health Alliance Plan and Priority Health Medicare (11 plans each). The table below lists every plan by carrier.

New plans for 2027

Twelve Medicare Advantage plans are new for 2027 in Wayne County. In alphabetical order by carrier:

A few of these names look familiar because the carrier is replacing a 2026 plan with a 2027 version under the same or similar label. The 2027 version is a new contract with its own benefit details — read it before assuming anything carries over.

Plans not returning after 2026

Sixteen plans are leaving the Wayne County market at the end of 2026. In alphabetical order by carrier:

If you are enrolled in one of these plans, your carrier will send a non-renewal notice this fall. You qualify for a Special Enrollment Period that runs from December 8, 2026 through the end of February 2027. During that window you can pick another Medicare Advantage plan, or you can go back to Original Medicare and add a stand-alone Part D plan. You do not have to decide inside the regular December 7 deadline.

Renamed and otherwise changed plans

Five plans in Wayne County are keeping their contract but changing their name for 2027: Humana Full Access (PPO), which was Humana Full Access H5216-011 (PPO); two Humana Full Access Giveback (PPO) plans that previously carried H5216-306 and H7617-058 in their names; McLaren Medicare Inspire Giveback (HMO), formerly McLaren Medicare Inspire Select (HMO); and Zing Elite Balance IN-MI (HMO C-SNP), formerly Zing Elite Balance MI (HMO C-SNP).

Beyond renames, 32 plans in Wayne County are changing on at least one of premium, deductible, plan type or name between 2026 and 2027, and 69 are continuing. "Continuing" does not mean "identical" — your network, drug list, copays, and extra benefits can still shift year to year. The one document that spells all of that out for your plan is the Annual Notice of Change (ANOC), which plans must mail by late September.
