Which HealthSpring Medicare Advantage plans are offered in St. Louis city for 2027?
HealthSpring will offer five Medicare Advantage plans in St. Louis city for 2027. CMS lists them under HealthSpring's parent organization, Health Care Service Corporation (HCSC), but they are sold as HealthSpring plans.
In alphabetical order, the 2027 plans are:
- HealthSpring Preferred (HMO) — HMO, with drug coverage
- HealthSpring Preferred Savings (HMO) — HMO, with drug coverage
- HealthSpring TotalCare (HMO D-SNP) — HMO D-SNP, with drug coverage
- HealthSpring TotalCare Plus (HMO D-SNP) — HMO D-SNP, with drug coverage
- HealthSpring True Choice (PPO) — PPO, with drug coverage; new for 2027
The table below lists every plan. For premiums, copays, deductibles, provider networks, drug lists and star ratings, use the Medicare Plan Finder at medicare.gov or call 1-800-MEDICARE — those details are plan-specific and change year to year.
What is new or not returning in HealthSpring's 2027 St. Louis lineup?
Compared with 2026, HealthSpring has one plan not returning for 2027 and one new plan for 2027 in St. Louis city. The total count stays at five.
If you are enrolled in a HealthSpring plan today, your Annual Notice of Change (ANOC) spells out exactly what is changing on January 1, 2027 — including whether your plan is the one leaving, whether a benefit or cost-share is moving, and what your options are. ANOCs are mailed in September. If you cannot find yours, HealthSpring member services can send another copy.
What is a D-SNP, and who can join one of HealthSpring's two in St. Louis?
A Dual Eligible Special Needs Plan (D-SNP) is a type of Medicare Advantage plan built for people who have both Medicare and Medicaid. Two of HealthSpring's five St. Louis plans — HealthSpring TotalCare (HMO D-SNP) and HealthSpring TotalCare Plus (HMO D-SNP) — are D-SNPs.
To enroll in a D-SNP, you have to qualify for Medicaid in Missouri in addition to Medicare. If you are not sure whether you qualify, Missouri's Medicaid agency or 1-800-MEDICARE can confirm.
How do I check a HealthSpring plan against my doctors and prescriptions before December 7?
Before you enroll, run two checks: provider network and drug list. The Medicare Plan Finder at medicare.gov lets you enter your prescriptions and preferred pharmacy and see each plan's estimated yearly drug cost, deductible and copays. For doctors and hospitals, check the plan's online provider directory or call HealthSpring directly and give them each provider's name and NPI number — networks change, so last year's answer is not good enough.
Two things worth knowing for 2027 under Part D, which apply across Medicare drug plans:
- The Part D out-of-pocket cap rises to $2,400 in 2027 (it is $2,100 in 2026).
- The Part D maximum deductible rises to $700 in 2027 (it is $615 in 2026).
CMS has not yet published the 2027 Part B standard premium, Part B deductible, or IRMAA income brackets. Those usually come out in November.
What else is in St. Louis besides HealthSpring?
HealthSpring is one of 11 carriers offering Medicare Advantage in St. Louis city for 2027. Across all carriers, there are 80 Medicare Advantage plans available in the county next year. The city of St. Louis is its own county for Medicare purposes, so plan availability shown here applies to St. Louis city specifically; neighboring St. Louis County has its own list.
You are not limited to HealthSpring. If a different carrier's network or drug list fits you better, you can compare side by side on the Plan Finder.
What happens if I do nothing by December 7, 2026?
Nothing dramatic. If your current plan is offered again in 2027, it renews automatically on January 1, with the changes described in your ANOC. If your plan is the one HealthSpring is not offering in 2027, you will get a non-renewal letter and a Special Enrollment Period to pick another plan. Original Medicare is always an option.
The Annual Enrollment Period runs October 15 through December 7, 2026. After that, Medicare Advantage members get a second window — Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment, January 1 through March 31, 2027 — to switch to a different Advantage plan or go back to Original Medicare one time.
