Key takeaways
- Nine Medicare Advantage plans offered in Oklahoma County for 2026 are not returning for 2027; the full list of nine, by carrier, appears below.
- Your plan is required to mail a non-renewal notice before the Annual Enrollment Period; if you got one, keep it — it is your proof of a Special Enrollment Period.
- If you do nothing, you will be moved to Original Medicare on January 1, 2027, with no drug coverage unless you add a Part D plan.
- You can switch during Annual Enrollment (Oct. 15 – Dec. 7, 2026), and a non-renewal also opens a Special Enrollment Period that runs through the end of February 2027.
Oklahoma City — If an envelope from your Medicare Advantage insurer arrived this fall and the words "non-renewal" or "will not be offered in 2027" jumped off the page, you are not alone. In Oklahoma County, nine Medicare Advantage plans that are offered in 2026 are not on the county's 2027 lineup, according to the CMS Medicare Advantage Landscape Source Files for the current and coming plan years. If one of those plans is yours, you have time, you have choices, and the calendar is on your side — but the clock does matter.

How to tell if your plan is one of them
Medicare rules require your plan to send a written non-renewal notice — sometimes called a plan non-renewal letter — before Annual Enrollment begins. It usually arrives in late September or October and says, in plain language, that the plan will not be offered in 2027 and that your coverage ends December 31, 2026.
A few quick checks:
- Look at the plan name on your member ID card and compare it to the list above, spelled exactly.
- Check your mail (and any plan portal messages) for a letter titled something like "Important: Your plan is not being offered in 2027."
- If you are not sure, call the member services number on the back of your card, or call 1-800-MEDICARE (TTY 1-877-486-2048).
Keep the letter. It is your documentation if you need to prove you qualify for a Special Enrollment Period later.
What happens if you do nothing
If your plan is on the non-renewing list and you make no change by December 31, 2026, your Medicare Advantage coverage simply ends when the plan ends. On January 1, 2027, you are not left without insurance — you return to Original Medicare (Part A and Part B) automatically.
Two things to know about that:
- Original Medicare does not include prescription drug coverage. If your old Medicare Advantage plan had drug coverage (every Medicare Advantage plan available in Oklahoma County for 2026 did), you will not have Part D unless you enroll in a stand-alone Part D plan.
- Original Medicare does not have an annual out-of-pocket maximum. Some people pair it with a Medicare Supplement (Medigap) policy and a stand-alone Part D plan; others choose a new Medicare Advantage plan. Both paths are valid; neither is "right" for everyone.
Your choices and your Special Enrollment Period
Because your plan is leaving, you actually have two enrollment windows working for you:
1. The Annual Enrollment Period, October 15 – December 7, 2026. Any choice made in this window takes effect January 1, 2027. You can pick a different Medicare Advantage plan (with or without drugs), or move to Original Medicare and add a stand-alone Part D plan.
2. A Special Enrollment Period for plan non-renewal. When CMS confirms a plan is not being renewed, affected members get an SEP that runs from December 8, 2026 through the end of February 2027. You can use it to join another Medicare Advantage plan or a stand-alone Part D plan.
There is also a Medigap guaranteed-issue right at the federal level when your Medicare Advantage plan ends through no fault of your own. That means insurers that sell Medigap must sell you certain plans without using medical underwriting, within a set window. Oklahoma may have additional rules; for state-specific questions, contact the Oklahoma Insurance Department.
What to compare before you pick
Whether you lean toward a new Medicare Advantage plan or Original Medicare plus a drug plan, a few things are worth checking for 2027:
- Your doctors and hospitals — confirm they are in the plan's network for 2027.
- Your prescriptions — confirm each one is on the plan's formulary and check the tier.
- Your pharmacy — in-network pharmacy status can change year to year.
- The Part D structure for 2027: the maximum deductible is $700 and the out-of-pocket cap is $2,400 (up from $615 and $2,100 in 2026). The Medicare Prescription Payment Plan is also available if you want to spread drug costs across the year.
- 2027 Part B premium, deductible and IRMAA income brackets: CMS has not published these yet; they are usually announced in November.
