MyMedicarePlans.org is an independent consumer news site. We are not Aetna, and this article is not a sales pitch — it is a plain-English walkthrough of what Aetna's 2027 Arlington-area roster looks like and how to check any plan against your own doctors and prescriptions before December 7.
How many Medicare Advantage plans will Aetna offer in Arlington for 2027?
For 2027, Aetna is offering 10 Medicare Advantage plans in Tarrant County, which includes Arlington. By type, that is 7 HMO plans and 3 PPO plans. Nine of the 10 include Part D prescription drug coverage; one is a Medicare Advantage-only PPO without drug coverage.
Of the 10, five are Special Needs Plans: four Dual Eligible Special Needs Plans (D-SNPs) and one Chronic Condition Special Needs Plan (C-SNP). Special Needs Plans have eligibility rules — for example, a D-SNP is for people who have both Medicare and Medicaid, and a C-SNP is for people with a qualifying chronic condition.
The full table on this page lists every Aetna plan by name and type. Keep in mind Medicare plan availability is set at the county level, so the same Tarrant County plans are generally what Arlington residents will see when they shop.
What is new or not returning in Aetna's 2027 Arlington lineup?
Three Aetna plans are new for 2027 in Tarrant County, two 2026 plans are not returning, and four plans carry a new name but are continuing. The new names are Aetna Medicare Enhanced Extra (PPO), Aetna Medicare QMB Only Care (HMO D-SNP) and Aetna Medicare Signature (HMO).
The renamed plans are Aetna Medicare Chronic Care Total (HMO C-SNP), which was Aetna Medicare Prime Chronic Total; Aetna Medicare Full Dual Care (HMO D-SNP), which was Aetna Medicare Dual Care; Aetna Medicare Full Dual Extra Care (HMO D-SNP), which was Aetna Medicare Full Dual Care; and Aetna Medicare QMB Only Extra Care (HMO D-SNP), which was Aetna Medicare Partial Dual Care.
A rename can mean more than a label change — benefits, pharmacy networks, provider networks and cost-sharing can shift from one plan year to the next. The Annual Notice of Change (ANOC) your plan sent in September spells out exactly what is different for 2027.
What should I do if my Aetna plan is one of the two not returning?
If your current Aetna plan will not be offered in Tarrant County in 2027, Aetna will send you a non-renewal notice. You have a Special Enrollment Period that lets you pick a new Medicare Advantage plan or move back to Original Medicare (and add a stand-alone Part D plan) through the end of February 2027.
You do not have to wait for that window, though. During the Annual Enrollment Period — October 15 through December 7, 2026 — anyone with Medicare can switch Medicare Advantage plans or move between Advantage and Original Medicare for coverage that starts January 1, 2027. If you take no action and your plan is still offered, it simply renews with the changes described in its ANOC.
How do I check an Aetna plan against my doctors and prescriptions?
The most reliable place to check is the Medicare Plan Finder at medicare.gov. You can enter your ZIP code, add your prescriptions and your preferred pharmacies, and see each plan's drug list and estimated yearly costs side by side. You can also call 1-800-MEDICARE, which is open 24/7.
To check doctors, use the plan's own provider directory on the carrier's website, or call the plan directly and ask about a specific provider and office location. Networks can change on January 1, so even if your doctor was in-network in 2026, confirm for 2027 before you enroll. For details on benefits and rules, the plan's Evidence of Coverage is the authoritative document.
A short checklist for Arlington residents:
- Have your Medicare number, a list of your prescriptions with doses, and your pharmacy names handy.
- Read the ANOC your current plan mailed in September for any 2027 changes.
- Confirm each doctor and preferred pharmacy for the 2027 plan year, not 2026.
- Decide before December 7, 2026 if you want a change effective January 1, 2027.
What else is changing in Medicare for 2027 that Arlington readers should know?
Two Part D figures are already confirmed for 2027. The Part D out-of-pocket cap rises to $2,400 in 2027 (it is $2,100 in 2026). The Part D maximum deductible rises to $700 in 2027 (it is $615 in 2026). CMS has also set the Part D national base beneficiary premium at $41.33 for 2027 — that is a formula input, not what any specific plan charges.
The 2027 Part B standard premium and deductible, and the 2027 IRMAA income brackets and surcharges, have not been announced yet. CMS typically releases them later in the fall, usually in November. We will not estimate them here.
