Anthem's 2027 Medicare Advantage lineup in Corpus Christi: three new D-SNPs, one plan gone

CORPUS CHRISTI — Anthem is reshaping its Medicare Advantage footprint in Nueces County for 2027. The carrier — which CMS groups under Elevance Health (Anthem) — will offer three Medicare Advantage plans here next year, all of them brand new, while the single plan it sold in the county for 2026 will not return. Every one of the 2027 plans is an HMO Dual Eligible Special Needs Plan (D-SNP) with drug coverage built in, meaning they are designed for people who have both Medicare and Medicaid.

If you are already enrolled in an Anthem plan in Corpus Christi, you should receive an Annual Notice of Change (ANOC) explaining what is happening to your coverage. The Annual Enrollment Period runs October 15 through December 7, 2026, and any change you make takes effect January 1, 2027.

MyMedicarePlans.org is an independent consumer site. We are not Anthem, not Medicare, and not selling anything. Anthem is one of eight carriers offering Medicare Advantage in Nueces County for 2027 (58 plans in all across those carriers).

How many Anthem Medicare Advantage plans are offered in Corpus Christi for 2027?

Anthem is offering three Medicare Advantage plans in Nueces County — the county Corpus Christi sits in — for the 2027 plan year. All three are HMO D-SNPs, all three include Part D drug coverage, and all three are new for 2027. Anthem is not offering any C-SNP (chronic condition) or I-SNP (institutional) plans in the county next year.

The table below lists every Anthem plan available in the county for 2027. Plan names, as filed with CMS, are:

For details on what any one of these plans covers — premium, drug list, provider network, extra benefits, star rating — go to the Medicare Plan Finder at medicare.gov, call 1-800-MEDICARE, or request the plan's Evidence of Coverage directly from Anthem.

What is new or not returning from Anthem in Nueces County for 2027?

For 2027, Anthem is introducing three new Medicare Advantage plans in Nueces County and ending one. The CMS Landscape file shows one Anthem plan that will not be offered again in the county next year.

If you are currently enrolled in an Anthem plan that is not returning, Medicare does not drop you from coverage without notice. You will receive a non-renewal notice from the carrier and have a Special Enrollment Period to pick a new plan. You can also use the Annual Enrollment Period, which closes December 7, 2026.

If you do nothing and your current plan is being discontinued, you will fall back to Original Medicare (Parts A and B) on January 1, 2027 — which does not include drug coverage. That is why reading the mail from your plan this fall matters.

What are Dual Eligible Special Needs Plans (D-SNPs)?

A D-SNP is a Medicare Advantage plan built for people who qualify for both Medicare and Medicaid. Every Anthem plan in Corpus Christi for 2027 is this type. If you do not have Medicaid in addition to Medicare, you generally are not eligible to enroll in a D-SNP.

Texas Medicaid eligibility is handled by the state Health and Human Services Commission, not by Medicare. If you are unsure whether you qualify as "dual eligible," your Medicaid caseworker or 1-800-MEDICARE can confirm your status before you shop plans.

How do I check an Anthem plan against my doctors and prescriptions before December 7?

Do it in three steps, and do it before the December 7, 2026 deadline:

1. Pull your list. Write down every prescription (name, dose, how often) and every doctor, specialist, hospital and pharmacy you want to keep using. 2. Run it through Medicare Plan Finder. Go to medicare.gov/plan-compare, enter your ZIP code and your drug list. The tool will show you the plans available in Nueces County, your estimated yearly drug costs under each one, and whether each drug is on the plan's formulary. 3. Verify the network directly. Formularies and provider networks can change year to year. Before you enroll, call the plan or check its online directory to confirm your doctors are in-network and your pharmacy is a preferred pharmacy for 2027.

If anything is unclear, 1-800-MEDICARE (TTY 1-877-486-2048) is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

What is changing in Part D for 2027?

Two Part D numbers that affect every Medicare drug plan — including the drug coverage inside Anthem's D-SNPs — are moving up for 2027:

The Medicare Prescription Payment Plan, which lets you spread drug costs across the year in monthly installments instead of paying at the pharmacy counter, continues in 2027. You can opt in through your plan.

The 2027 Part B standard premium and deductible and the 2027 IRMAA income brackets have not yet been announced. CMS typically publishes those figures in the fall, usually in November.

Frequently asked questions

Does Anthem offer any non-D-SNP Medicare Advantage plans in Corpus Christi for 2027?
No. According to the CMS Landscape file, all three of Anthem's 2027 Medicare Advantage plans in Nueces County are HMO D-SNPs with drug coverage. They are designed for people who have both Medicare and Medicaid. If you do not have Medicaid, you can look at Medicare Advantage plans from the other seven carriers in the county, or consider Original Medicare with a standalone Part D plan.
What happens if I do nothing by December 7, 2026?
If your current plan is being offered again in 2027, it renews automatically on January 1 with the changes described in your Annual Notice of Change. If your plan is not being offered again — as is the case for Anthem's 2026 plan in this county — you will get a non-renewal letter and will drop back to Original Medicare unless you pick a new plan. A Special Enrollment Period is available in that situation.
How do I know if I qualify as "dual eligible"?
You qualify if you have both Medicare and Medicaid, including some Medicare Savings Programs. In Texas, Medicaid eligibility is set by the state Health and Human Services Commission. Call your Medicaid caseworker or 1-800-MEDICARE to confirm your status before enrolling in a D-SNP.
Where can I compare Anthem's plans to the other carriers in Nueces County?
Use the Medicare Plan Finder at medicare.gov/plan-compare, which shows every Medicare Advantage and Part D plan available in your ZIP code side by side, or call 1-800-MEDICARE 24/7. Those are the official, free, non-sales sources for comparing all 58 Medicare Advantage plans offered across the county's eight carriers for 2027.
