CORPUS CHRISTI — The 2027 Medicare Advantage lineup for Nueces County is set, and it looks a little different than this year's. One carrier that sells here now will not be back, a new carrier is coming in, and ten plans are brand new for the plan year that begins January 1, 2027. Nineteen plans that are available in 2026 are not being offered again. If you live in or around Corpus Christi, this is the picture to work from while the Annual Enrollment Period runs October 15 through December 7, 2026.

Which carriers will offer Medicare Advantage in Corpus Christi for 2027?

Eight carriers will sell Medicare Advantage plans in Nueces County, where Corpus Christi is located, for 2027. The returning carriers are Aetna (CVS Health), Blue Cross Blue Shield (HCSC), Centene (WellCare), Elevance Health (Anthem), Humana, Texas Independence Health Plan and UnitedHealthcare. ProCare Advantage is new to the county for 2027. CHRISTUS Health Advantage, which currently offers two plans here, is not returning.

The lineup still spans the main Medicare Advantage plan types people shop among in the area — HMO, HMO-POS, PPO and PFFS — along with Special Needs Plans (SNPs) for people with Medicaid, certain chronic conditions, or who live in a facility. The full roster appears in the table below.

Which Medicare Advantage plans are new in Nueces County for 2027?

Ten plans are new for 2027. Listed alphabetically by carrier, they are: Aetna Medicare QMB Only Care (HMO D-SNP) from Aetna (CVS Health); HealthSpring Preferred (HMO) and HealthSpring TotalCare Plus (HMO D-SNP) from Blue Cross Blue Shield (HCSC); Wellpoint Dual Advantage (HMO D-SNP), Wellpoint Dual Advantage Plus (HMO D-SNP) and Wellpoint Full Dual Advantage Aligned (HMO D-SNP) from Elevance Health (Anthem); Humana Together in Health (PPO I-SNP) and Humana Value Choice (PPO) from Humana; ProCare Advantage (HMO-POS I-SNP) from the new carrier ProCare Advantage; and UHC Dual Complete TX-S4 (HMO-POS D-SNP) from UnitedHealthcare.

Several of these are Special Needs Plans, which have enrollment rules of their own — generally you must have Medicaid, a qualifying chronic condition, or live in an institutional setting. If you are not sure whether you qualify, the plan's materials and the Medicare Plan Finder at medicare.gov walk through the eligibility.

Which plans are not returning to Corpus Christi after 2026?

Nineteen plans available in 2026 will not be offered in Nueces County in 2027. From Blue Cross Blue Shield (HCSC): Blue Cross Medicare Advantage Dental Value (HMO), Blue Cross Medicare Advantage Preferred (PPO), Blue Cross Medicare Advantage Saver (HMO), Blue Cross Medicare Advantage Secure (HMO) and HealthSpring Preferred (HMO). From Centene (WellCare): Wellcare Assist (HMO), Wellcare Dual Access (HMO D-SNP), Wellcare Dual Liberty (HMO D-SNP), Wellcare Patriot Simple (HMO) and Wellcare Simple (HMO). From CHRISTUS Health Advantage, which is exiting the county: CHRISTUS Health Medicare Guardian (HMO) and CHRISTUS Health Medicare Plus (HMO). From Elevance Health (Anthem): Wellpoint Full Dual Advantage Aligned (HMO D-SNP). From Humana: Humana Gold Choice H8145-084 (PFFS), Humana USAA Honor Giveback (PPO), HumanaChoice H5216-360 (PPO) and HumanaChoice H7617-040 (PPO). From UnitedHealthcare: UHC Complete Care Support TX-1A (Regional PPO C-SNP) and UHC Dual Complete TX-S4 (HMO-POS D-SNP).

A note on names: a few 2027 plans share a name with a 2026 plan being discontinued (for example, HealthSpring Preferred (HMO) and Wellpoint Full Dual Advantage Aligned (HMO D-SNP)). CMS treats these as different plan offerings. If you see your plan's name on the new list, check the plan ID on your Annual Notice of Change to be sure it is the same product.

What should I do if my Corpus Christi plan is leaving in 2027?

If your Medicare Advantage plan is not being offered in 2027, Medicare gives you a Special Enrollment Period. You can use it to join a different Medicare Advantage plan, pick up a stand-alone Part D drug plan, or go back to Original Medicare — generally from early December through the end of February, with your new coverage starting the first of the month after you enroll.

Your plan is required to tell you in writing if it is leaving. Keep that notice; it is the proof of your Special Enrollment Period. If you plan to return to Original Medicare and want a Medigap policy, Texas Medigap rules and medical underwriting may apply, so it is worth checking medicare.gov or calling 1-800-MEDICARE before you drop your Advantage coverage.

What is also changing for 2027, and when do I need to act?

The Annual Enrollment Period runs October 15 through December 7, 2026, and any change you make takes effect January 1, 2027. If you do nothing and your current plan is on the 2027 list, it will renew automatically with the changes spelled out in its Annual Notice of Change — that is the booklet or email that arrives from your plan in late September or early October. Nineteen Corpus Christi–area plans are changing on things like premium, deductible, type or name for 2027, so even if your plan is continuing, the ANOC is the document to read.

A few program-wide numbers are already set for 2027. The Part D out-of-pocket cap will be $2,400 in 2027, up from $2,100 in 2026. The Part D maximum deductible will be $700 in 2027, up from $615 in 2026. The 2027 Part B standard premium and deductible, and the 2027 IRMAA income brackets, have not been announced yet; CMS typically publishes them in the fall, usually in November.

Where can I see every Corpus Christi plan side by side?

The table below lists every 2027 Medicare Advantage plan available in Nueces County by carrier and plan type, including Special Needs Plans. For personalized details — the premium, deductible, drug formulary, provider network and star rating of any specific plan — use the Medicare Plan Finder at medicare.gov or call 1-800-MEDICARE (TTY 1-877-486-2048), which is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Frequently asked questions

When can I switch Medicare Advantage plans in Corpus Christi for 2027 coverage?
The Annual Enrollment Period runs October 15 through December 7, 2026. A change made in that window takes effect January 1, 2027. If you are already enrolled in a Medicare Advantage plan on January 1, you also have the Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period from January 1 through March 31, 2027 to make one switch.
What happens if I do nothing during Annual Enrollment?
If your current plan is being offered again in 2027, it renews automatically with the changes listed in your Annual Notice of Change. If your plan is one of the 19 not returning to Nueces County, you will not be auto-enrolled in a different plan; you need to pick a new Medicare Advantage or Part D plan, or you can return to Original Medicare under the Special Enrollment Period for a discontinued plan.
Does the number of plans in Corpus Christi mean I have better choices?
Not by itself. More plans mean more options to compare, but the right plan for you depends on your doctors, your prescriptions, your travel, your budget and whether you qualify for any Special Needs Plan. The Medicare Plan Finder at medicare.gov lets you enter your own drugs and providers to see how each plan fits.
Where can I get help that is specific to my situation?
Call 1-800-MEDICARE (TTY 1-877-486-2048) 24 hours a day, seven days a week, or use medicare.gov to compare plans with your own prescriptions and preferred doctors entered. Your plan's member services line, listed on your member ID card, can answer questions about your current coverage and your Annual Notice of Change.
