What HealthSpring is offering in Tarrant County for 2027
Fort Worth is in Tarrant County, where Medicare Advantage availability is set at the county level. For plan year 2027, HealthSpring is offering 6 Medicare Advantage plans in the county: 5 HMOs and 1 PPO. All 6 include Part D prescription drug coverage. Two of them are Dual Eligible Special Needs Plans (D-SNPs), which are designed for people who qualify for both Medicare and Medicaid.
CMS lists these plans under HealthSpring's parent organization, Health Care Service Corporation (HCSC). They appear on medicare.gov as HealthSpring plans. The table below lists every HealthSpring plan available in the county for 2027.
The plans, by type
Here is the full HealthSpring roster for Tarrant County in 2027, as filed with CMS:
HMO plans (with drug coverage):
- HealthSpring Courage (HMO)
- HealthSpring Preferred (HMO)
- HealthSpring Preferred Savings (HMO)
- HealthSpring TotalCare (HMO D-SNP) — Special Needs Plan
- HealthSpring TotalCare Plus (HMO D-SNP) — Special Needs Plan, new for 2027
PPO plan (with drug coverage):
- HealthSpring True Choice (PPO)
Every plan in the lineup includes prescription drug coverage, so a separate stand-alone Part D plan is not needed if you enroll in one of them.
What's new, and what's not returning
Two things are changing in HealthSpring's Tarrant County lineup for 2027:
- New for 2027: HealthSpring TotalCare Plus (HMO D-SNP). This is a Dual Eligible Special Needs Plan, built for people who have both Medicare and Medicaid.
- Not returning for 2027: One HealthSpring plan that was offered in 2026 will not be available next year. If you are enrolled in it, you will receive a notice from the plan explaining your options and when you can switch.
For every plan that is returning, the plan's Annual Notice of Change (ANOC) is where the specifics live — any adjustments to premium, drug tiers, copays, provider network or extras like dental and vision for 2027. HealthSpring is required to send this before the Annual Enrollment Period, and it is worth a careful read even if you plan to stay put.
How to check a plan against your doctors and prescriptions
Before December 7, 2026, three steps will tell you most of what you need to know:
1. Pull up the Medicare Plan Finder at medicare.gov. Enter your ZIP code and your prescriptions. The tool will show every Medicare Advantage plan in Tarrant County, including HealthSpring's, with its 2027 premium, deductible, drug costs and star rating. 2. Check the plan's provider directory. For HMO plans, your primary care doctor and specialists generally need to be in-network for routine care. PPOs offer out-of-network coverage but usually at a higher cost. The directory is on the plan's website, or you can call the plan directly. 3. Check the plan's drug formulary. Each plan has its own list of covered drugs and tiers. The Plan Finder will estimate your yearly drug costs based on the medications you enter.
If any step is confusing, 1-800-MEDICARE (TTY 1-877-486-2048) is open 24/7 and can walk you through it.
A few 2027 numbers worth knowing
A couple of program-level figures are already confirmed by CMS for 2027, and they apply no matter which plan you choose:
- The Part D out-of-pocket cap rises to $2,400 in 2027 (up from $2,100 in 2026). Once your out-of-pocket spending on covered drugs hits that cap, you pay $0 for covered drugs the rest of the year.
- The Part D maximum deductible is $700 in 2027 (up from $615 in 2026). Plans can set a lower deductible, but not a higher one.
- The Medicare Prescription Payment Plan remains available, letting you spread drug costs across the calendar year in monthly payments instead of paying at the pharmacy counter.
The 2027 Part B standard premium and deductible, and the 2027 IRMAA income brackets, have not yet been announced. CMS typically publishes those in the fall, usually in November.
If you do nothing
If you do nothing during this enrollment window and your 2026 plan is being offered again in 2027, you stay in it — the plan simply renews on January 1, 2027, with the changes listed in its ANOC. If your plan is one of those not returning, your plan will send a notice and you will have a special opportunity to pick another plan.
The Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period also runs January 1 through March 31, 2027, which gives Medicare Advantage members one additional chance to switch to a different Medicare Advantage plan or return to Original Medicare.
