100 New Medicare Advantage Plans in Texas for 2027: The List
AUSTIN, Texas — For the 2027 plan year, Texas has 100 Medicare Advantage plans that were not offered in 2026, out of 421 Medicare Advantage plans available somewhere in the state next year, according to the CMS Medicare Advantage Landscape Source Files for 2026 and 2027. Fourteen carriers are introducing those new plans, and the plans themselves range from offerings in a single county to ones that will be sold in most of the state. The full plan-by-plan list is rendered as tables on this page; the article below explains what the numbers mean and how to check whether any of the new plans is actually offered where you live.

Key takeaways
- Texas has 100 Medicare Advantage plans new for 2027 out of 421 total, spread across 14 carriers.
- A plan is sold county by county, so a plan listed statewide may or may not be available in your county.
- The Annual Enrollment Period runs October 15 – December 7, 2026, and a choice made during it takes effect January 1, 2027.
- New plans do not yet have a Star Rating or a track record, so details like networks and drug lists have to be checked directly on Medicare.gov or in the plan's own documents.
How many plans are new, and from which carriers
Of the 421 Medicare Advantage plans available somewhere in Texas for 2027, 100 are new — meaning they were not offered in 2026. The 14 carriers introducing new plans in Texas, in alphabetical order, are: Aetna (CVS Health) with 10 new plans, Alignment Health Plan with 3, Centene (WellCare) with 4, Community First with 1, Community Health Choice with 3, Devoted Health with 24, El Paso Health Medicare Advantage with 1, Elevance Health (Anthem) with 25, HealthSpring with 4, Humana with 7, MedCare Partners Health Plan of Texas with 3, Prominence Health Plan with 1, SCAN Health Plan with 2, and UnitedHealthcare with 12.
Elevance Health (Anthem) and Devoted Health are introducing the largest number of new plans in Texas, followed by UnitedHealthcare, Aetna (CVS Health), and Humana. Several carriers — Community First, El Paso Health Medicare Advantage, and Prominence Health Plan — are each adding a single new plan. The full statewide list of all 100 new plans appears in the table on this page.
The new plans with the widest county reach
County reach is simply how many Texas counties a plan is sold in. Among the new plans, the widest reach belongs to Humana's Humana Together in Health (PPO I-SNP), listed in 199 counties. Centene (WellCare)'s Wellcare Superior HealthPlan Dual Reserve Value (HMO D-SNP) is listed in 125 counties, and Aetna (CVS Health)'s Aetna Medicare QMB Only Care (HMO D-SNP) is listed in 100 counties under one of its contract IDs.
Several Elevance Health (Anthem) D-SNP plans — including Wellpoint Dual Advantage, Wellpoint Dual Advantage Plus, and Wellpoint Full Dual Advantage Aligned — are each listed in 99 counties under one of their contract IDs. Centene (WellCare)'s Wellcare Simple Value (HMO) is listed in 65 counties, and HealthSpring TotalCare Plus (HMO D-SNP) is listed in 36 counties. Many new plans are built around specific populations, such as dual-eligible Special Needs Plans (D-SNPs) for people who have both Medicare and Medicaid, Chronic Condition SNPs (C-SNPs) tied to conditions like diabetes, heart disease, or kidney care, and an Institutional SNP (I-SNP). SNPs have eligibility rules of their own; the plan's own documents spell those out.
What "new" means
A new plan is one that CMS lists for 2027 and did not list for 2026. Because it has not been sold before under that contract and plan number, it does not yet have a Medicare Star Rating or a multi-year track record. That is a factual limitation, not a knock on any carrier — it applies to every new plan from every carrier, nationwide. It also means that if you compare a new plan to one that has been around for several years, some of the comparison tools on Medicare.gov will show information for the older plan that is simply not available yet for the newer one.
Checking whether a new plan is offered in your county — and covers your doctors and drugs
Medicare Advantage is sold county by county, so a plan on the statewide list may or may not be offered where you live. To check:
1. Go to Medicare.gov's Plan Finder and enter your ZIP code. 2. Filter for 2027 plans; the tool will show which plans are offered in your county. 3. For any plan you're considering, open the plan's own Summary of Benefits and Evidence of Coverage. 4. Use the plan's provider directory to check your doctors, hospitals, and specialists. 5. Use the plan's formulary (drug list) to check each of your prescriptions by name and dose, and look at the pharmacy network.
If a plan is a D-SNP, C-SNP, or I-SNP, confirm you meet the eligibility rules before enrolling.
What to do before December 7
The Annual Enrollment Period runs October 15 – December 7, 2026. Any Medicare Advantage choice made in that window takes effect January 1, 2027. A reasonable checklist:
- Read the Annual Notice of Change from your current plan, if you have one, and note anything that is changing for 2027.
- Make a list of your doctors, hospitals, and current prescriptions.
- Use Medicare.gov's Plan Finder to see which 2027 plans — including new ones — are offered in your county.
- Compare at least a couple of options against your own doctors, drugs, and travel patterns.
- Enroll by December 7, 2026 if you decide to change.
If you do nothing, in most cases your current coverage continues into 2027, but it may continue with changes. Reading the Annual Notice of Change is the way to see those changes.
