What Wellcare Medicare Advantage plans are offered in Plano for 2027?
Wellcare is offering 6 Medicare Advantage plans in Collin County — the county Plano is in — for 2027. All 6 are HMOs. Of those, 4 are Dual Eligible Special Needs Plans (D-SNPs), designed for people who have both Medicare and Medicaid, and 5 include Part D prescription drug coverage.
The table below lists every Wellcare plan available in the county next year. The names are:
- Wellcare Patriot Simple (HMO)
- Wellcare Simple (HMO)
- Wellcare Superior HealthPlan Dual Access (HMO D-SNP)
- Wellcare Superior HealthPlan Dual Liberty Sync (HMO D-SNP)
- Wellcare Superior HealthPlan Dual Reserve (HMO D-SNP)
- Wellcare Superior HealthPlan Dual Reserve Value (HMO D-SNP)
CMS groups Wellcare under its parent company, Centene (WellCare). We cannot list premiums, copays, networks or star ratings here — those are personal to your situation and belong on medicare.gov or in each plan's Evidence of Coverage.
What is new or not returning from Wellcare in Collin County for 2027?
One Wellcare plan is new for 2027 in Collin County — Wellcare Superior HealthPlan Dual Reserve Value (HMO D-SNP) — and two Wellcare plans that were available in 2026 are not returning for 2027.
Three plans kept their core offering but were renamed under the "Wellcare Superior HealthPlan" label:
- Wellcare Superior HealthPlan Dual Access (HMO D-SNP) — previously Wellcare Dual Access (HMO D-SNP)
- Wellcare Superior HealthPlan Dual Liberty Sync (HMO D-SNP) — previously Wellcare Dual Liberty Sync (HMO D-SNP)
- Wellcare Superior HealthPlan Dual Reserve (HMO D-SNP) — previously Wellcare Dual Reserve (HMO D-SNP)
A rename does not automatically mean a benefit change. Watch for your Annual Notice of Change (ANOC), which Wellcare mails each fall — it spells out what, if anything, is different about your plan for January 1, 2027.
What should I do if my Wellcare plan is not returning in 2027?
If your Wellcare plan is one of the two not returning in Collin County for 2027, you have a Special Enrollment Period to pick a new plan, in addition to the regular October 15 – December 7, 2026 window. If you take no action, you will generally return to Original Medicare on January 1, 2027, which does not include Part D drug coverage.
The simplest move is to confirm this directly:
- Log in at medicare.gov and use Plan Finder to see what is available at your ZIP code.
- Call 1-800-MEDICARE (TTY 1-877-486-2048), 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
- Read the ANOC and non-renewal letter Wellcare sends by late September.
How do I check a plan against my doctors and prescriptions before December 7?
The fastest way is to use the Medicare Plan Finder at medicare.gov, which lets you enter your drugs and preferred pharmacy and see how each plan treats them. Doctor networks are checked with the plan itself, because provider directories change throughout the year.
A practical checklist for 2027 shopping:
1. Gather your prescription list, with doses and how often you take each one. 2. Note the doctors and hospitals you want to keep. 3. On medicare.gov, enter your ZIP code, drugs and pharmacy. The tool will estimate your yearly drug costs under each plan. 4. For each plan you are considering, call the plan or check its online directory to confirm your doctors are in-network for 2027 — not just 2026. 5. If a plan has a D-SNP, confirm you qualify (you must have both Medicare and Medicaid).
What else is changing in Medicare for 2027?
Two Part D numbers for 2027 are already set by CMS. The Part D out-of-pocket cap rises to $2,400 in 2027 (up from $2,100 in 2026), and the maximum Part D deductible rises to $700 in 2027 (up from $615 in 2026). The Part D national base beneficiary premium for 2027 is $41.33 — this is a formula input CMS uses, not what any specific plan charges.
Two other figures are not out yet. CMS has not announced the 2027 Part B standard premium and deductible, or the 2027 IRMAA income brackets; those usually come in November. We will update our coverage when they are published — do not rely on projections you see elsewhere.
Collin County has 81 Medicare Advantage plans total for 2027 from 12 carriers, so Wellcare is one of several options. The right plan depends on your drugs, doctors and budget, not on which carrier has the most plans.
