What Medicare Advantage plans is Aetna offering in Seattle for 2027?
In King County, which includes Seattle, Aetna is offering 6 Medicare Advantage plans for 2027. That breaks down to 3 HMO plans and 3 PPO plans, and every one of them includes prescription drug coverage. One of the HMO plans is a Chronic Condition Special Needs Plan (C-SNP), designed for people living with certain qualifying conditions.
The full roster, in alphabetical order, is in the table below. The plans are:
- Aetna Medicare Chronic Care (HMO C-SNP) — new for 2027
- Aetna Medicare Eagle (HMO) — new for 2027
- Aetna Medicare Eagle (PPO)
- Aetna Medicare Enhanced (PPO)
- Aetna Medicare Signature (HMO)
- Aetna Medicare Signature (PPO) — renamed (was Aetna Medicare Signature Extra (PPO) in 2026)
We are not listing premiums, copays, networks or star ratings here. Those details are plan-specific and change year to year, which is why the right place to check them is Medicare's Plan Finder.
What is new or not returning from Aetna in King County for 2027?
Two Aetna plans are new in King County for 2027: Aetna Medicare Chronic Care (HMO C-SNP) and Aetna Medicare Eagle (HMO). One Aetna plan from 2026 is not returning next year, and one plan has been renamed — the 2026 Aetna Medicare Signature Extra (PPO) is now Aetna Medicare Signature (PPO) for 2027.
If you are enrolled in an Aetna plan this year, watch your mailbox for the Annual Notice of Change (ANOC). That document spells out exactly what is different about your plan — the premium, the drug list, the provider network, the copays — compared with 2026. If your current plan is the one leaving, Aetna's notice will explain your options and timing.
How do I check an Aetna plan against my doctors and prescriptions before December 7?
The fastest way is the Medicare Plan Finder at medicare.gov. Enter your ZIP code, add every prescription you take with the dose and quantity, and the tool will show you how each plan in King County — Aetna and others — covers those drugs. You can also enter your pharmacy to see preferred pricing.
For doctors and hospitals, do not rely on a plan's online directory alone. Call the practice directly and ask whether they take the specific plan name and plan type (HMO or PPO) for 2027 — not just "Aetna." HMO plans generally require you to use in-network providers and get referrals; PPO plans let you go out of network, usually at a higher cost. For C-SNP eligibility, you need a qualifying chronic condition verified by your doctor.
If you prefer to speak with someone, 1-800-MEDICARE is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
What else is changing in Medicare for 2027?
A few program-wide numbers are already set for 2027. The Part D out-of-pocket cap on prescriptions rises to $2,400 in 2027, up from $2,100 in 2026. The maximum Part D deductible a plan can charge rises to $700 in 2027, from $615 in 2026. The Part D national base beneficiary premium for 2027 is $41.33 — that is a formula input CMS uses, not what any particular plan charges.
The 2027 Part B standard premium and deductible, along with the IRMAA income brackets, have not been announced yet. CMS typically publishes those figures later in the fall.
The coverage gap, often called the "donut hole," has been gone since 2025. Part D now has three phases: deductible, initial coverage, and catastrophic. If drug costs are hard to manage month to month, every Part D plan must offer the Medicare Prescription Payment Plan, which spreads your out-of-pocket drug costs across the calendar year.
What happens if I do nothing before December 7?
Nothing dramatic. If your current plan is being offered again in 2027, you stay enrolled and the changes in your ANOC take effect on January 1. If your plan is not returning, Medicare will send a letter explaining your options and any special enrollment rights.
That said, "doing nothing" is still a choice worth making on purpose. Networks shift, drug lists change, and copays move. A 20-minute check on Plan Finder each fall is how most people catch a surprise before it becomes a bill.
