Milwaukee is in Milwaukee County, and Medicare Advantage availability is set at the county level by CMS. If you live in the city, these are the UnitedHealthcare plans you can shop. The full list, by plan name, appears in the table below.
Which UnitedHealthcare plans are new, renamed or not returning in Milwaukee for 2027?
In Milwaukee County, UnitedHealthcare has 2 new plans for 2027, 3 renamed plans, and 3 plans from 2026 that are not returning. The new plans are UHC Complete Care WI-21 (an HMO-POS C-SNP) and UHC Dual Complete WI-S1 (an HMO-POS D-SNP).
The three renamed plans are UHC Dual Advantage WI-V1 (formerly UHC Dual Complete WI-V001), UHC Dual Advantage WI-V2 (formerly UHC Dual Complete WI-D001), and UHC Dual Complete WI-Q1 (formerly UHC Dual Complete WI-D002). A rename does not by itself change what a plan covers, but anything else that is changing — premium, drug list, provider network, extra benefits — will be spelled out in the plan's Annual Notice of Change (ANOC), which members get by late September.
If your 2026 UnitedHealthcare plan is one of the 3 not returning in Milwaukee County next year, you will get a non-renewal notice from the carrier and you have a Special Enrollment Period to pick another plan.
What are the Special Needs Plans UnitedHealthcare offers in Milwaukee County for 2027?
Nine of UnitedHealthcare's 14 Milwaukee County plans for 2027 are Special Needs Plans (SNPs): 4 Dual-eligible SNPs (D-SNPs) for people who have both Medicare and Medicaid, 3 Chronic Condition SNPs (C-SNPs), and 2 Institutional SNPs (I-SNPs) for people who live in or need the level of care given in a nursing facility.
SNPs have extra enrollment rules — for a D-SNP you must qualify for Medicaid, for a C-SNP you must have the qualifying condition, and for an I-SNP you must meet the institutional-level-of-care test. The specific plan names in each category are in the table below.
How do I check a UnitedHealthcare plan against my doctors and prescriptions before December 7?
The most reliable way to check any 2027 plan against your own doctors and medications is the Medicare Plan Finder at medicare.gov. Enter your ZIP code, add your prescriptions and your pharmacy, and the tool will show each plan's drug costs and whether your pharmacy is preferred.
Three steps that save grief later:
1. Read your Annual Notice of Change if you are already in a UnitedHealthcare plan. It tells you exactly what is changing for 2027. 2. Use the Plan Finder's doctor lookup, and then also call the doctor's office to confirm they will accept the specific 2027 plan. Networks can be updated after Plan Finder loads. 3. Check your drugs by exact name, dose and quantity. Formularies change every year, and a drug can move to a different tier or require prior authorization.
You can also call 1-800-MEDICARE (TTY 1-877-486-2048), 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, for help comparing plans.
What 2027 Medicare numbers are already confirmed, and what is still pending?
CMS has confirmed several Part D numbers for 2027. The Part D out-of-pocket cap rises to $2,400 in 2027 (up from $2,100 in 2026). The Part D maximum deductible is $700 in 2027 (up from $615 in 2026). The Part D national base beneficiary premium is $41.33 for 2027 — that is a formula input, not what any particular plan charges.
Not yet announced: the 2027 Part B standard premium and deductible, and the 2027 IRMAA income brackets. CMS usually publishes those in the fall, typically in November. We will update coverage when the numbers are released.
When is the deadline, and what happens if I do nothing?
The Annual Enrollment Period runs October 15 – December 7, 2026. A change you make in that window takes effect January 1, 2027.
If you do nothing, your current plan simply renews for 2027 — as long as it is still being offered — with the changes described in its ANOC. If your plan is one that is not returning, you need to act, and you will get a letter from the carrier explaining your options. There is also a Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period from January 1 – March 31, 2027, when someone already in a Medicare Advantage plan can switch to a different Medicare Advantage plan or go back to Original Medicare.
