MyMedicarePlans.org is an independent consumer site. We are not Aetna, and Aetna is one of 11 carriers offering Medicare Advantage in Kern County for 2027.
What Aetna Medicare Advantage plans are offered in Bakersfield for 2027?
Aetna is offering 4 Medicare Advantage plans in Kern County, the county Bakersfield is in, for 2027. By type, that is 3 HMOs and 1 HMO-POS, and all 4 include Part D prescription drug coverage. Aetna is not offering a Dual-Eligible, Chronic Condition or Institutional Special Needs Plan in this county next year.
The table below lists every Aetna plan in Kern County for 2027, in alphabetical order:
- Aetna Medicare Prime Value Plus (HMO) — HMO-POS, with drug coverage
- Aetna Medicare Signature (HMO) — HMO, with drug coverage
- Aetna Medicare Signature Extra (HMO) — HMO, with drug coverage
- Aetna Medicare Signature Legacy (HMO) — HMO, with drug coverage
We can tell you the plans exist and how CMS classifies them. We cannot and do not quote premiums, copays, deductibles, drug lists, provider networks or star ratings here — those live in each plan's Summary of Benefits and Evidence of Coverage, and on medicare.gov.
What is new, renamed or not returning from Aetna in Kern County for 2027?
No Aetna plans are leaving Kern County for 2027, and no new Aetna plans are being added here for 2027. Two existing plans are renamed:
- Aetna Medicare Prime Value Plus (HMO) was previously Aetna Medicare Prime Value Plus (HMO-POS).
- Aetna Medicare Signature Legacy (HMO) was previously Aetna Medicare Signature (HMO).
A rename often, but not always, comes with other changes — to the drug list, the network, cost-sharing or extra benefits. Your Annual Notice of Change (ANOC), which Aetna mails in late September, is the document that spells out exactly what is different for 2027 compared with 2026. If you cannot find yours, call the member services number on your Aetna card.
How do I check an Aetna plan against my doctors and prescriptions before December 7?
Use the Medicare Plan Finder at medicare.gov or call 1-800-MEDICARE (1-800-633-4227), which is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The Plan Finder lets you enter your ZIP code, your prescriptions and your pharmacy, and it shows how each plan handles them. A quick checklist:
1. Make a list. Write down every prescription (name, dose, how often) and every doctor, specialist and hospital you want to keep using. 2. Enter them in Plan Finder. The tool compares your estimated yearly drug costs across the plans available in your ZIP code. 3. Check the provider directory. Confirm each of your doctors is in-network for the specific plan — not just "accepts Aetna." Networks differ by plan. 4. Read the ANOC and Summary of Benefits. Those documents, from Aetna directly, are the authoritative source for what the plan covers next year. 5. Call to confirm. A quick call to the plan or 1-800-MEDICARE can confirm a drug tier, a prior-authorization rule or whether a specific clinic is in-network.
What else is changing about Medicare costs for 2027?
A few program-wide figures for 2027 are already set by CMS, and they apply no matter which plan you pick:
- Part D out-of-pocket cap: $2,400 in 2027 (up from $2,100 in 2026). Once your out-of-pocket spending on covered drugs reaches that amount, you pay $0 for covered drugs the rest of the year.
- Part D maximum deductible: $700 in 2027 (up from $615 in 2026). Plans may charge less, but not more.
- Medicare Prescription Payment Plan: still available in 2027. It is an optional way to spread your drug costs across the year in monthly payments instead of paying at the pharmacy counter.
The 2027 Part B standard premium and deductible, and the 2027 IRMAA income brackets, had not been announced as of this writing. CMS typically publishes those figures later in the fall. We will update our coverage when they are posted.
What happens if I do nothing by December 7?
Nothing dramatic. If you take no action by December 7, 2026, your current plan simply renews for 2027 — provided it is still being offered — with whatever changes are described in your Annual Notice of Change. For Aetna members in Kern County, none of the current plans are being discontinued, so your coverage will roll over. The question is whether the 2027 version of your plan still fits your doctors, prescriptions and budget. That is what the ANOC and Plan Finder are for.
If you miss December 7, there is still the Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period from January 1 through March 31, 2027, which lets Medicare Advantage members switch to another Medicare Advantage plan or return to Original Medicare one time.
