MyMedicarePlans.org is an independent consumer site. We are not Aetna, and Aetna is one of 20 carriers offering Medicare Advantage plans in Los Angeles County for 2027 — 124 plans in all.
What Aetna Medicare Advantage plans are available in Los Angeles County for 2027?
Aetna is offering 7 Medicare Advantage plans in Los Angeles County for 2027 — 5 HMOs and 2 HMO-POS plans — and all 7 include Part D drug coverage. The table below lists every plan by name and type.
For 2026, Aetna offered 8 plans in the county (3 HMO, 2 HMO-POS, 3 PPO). The headline shift for 2027 is that Aetna's PPO plans in Los Angeles County are not on the 2027 lineup, and the carrier's offerings here are now HMO and HMO-POS only. If you need an out-of-network option, that is worth looking at closely in the ANOC and on the Plan Finder.
What is new, renamed, or not returning from Aetna in 2027?
Two Aetna plans are new in Los Angeles County for 2027, three are renamed, and three 2026 plans will not be offered again. The new plans are Aetna Medicare Chronic Care (HMO C-SNP) and Aetna Medicare Eagle (HMO). The renamed plans are Aetna Medicare Prime (HMO) (previously Aetna Medicare Prime (HMO-POS)), Aetna Medicare Prime Extra (HMO) (previously Aetna Medicare Prime Extra (HMO-POS)), and Aetna Medicare Signature Legacy (HMO) (previously Aetna Medicare Signature (HMO)).
A renamed plan is not necessarily the same plan with a new label — benefits, copays, networks, and drug lists can change from one plan year to the next. The Annual Notice of Change your carrier mailed in September is the document that lists exactly what is different for your plan in 2027.
Does Aetna offer a Special Needs Plan in Los Angeles County for 2027?
Yes — Aetna has one Chronic Condition Special Needs Plan (C-SNP) in Los Angeles County for 2027, called Aetna Medicare Chronic Care (HMO C-SNP). It is new for next year. Aetna is not offering a Dual Eligible Special Needs Plan (D-SNP) or an Institutional Special Needs Plan (I-SNP) in the county for 2027.
C-SNPs are designed for people living with specific chronic conditions, and eligibility rules apply. If you think a C-SNP might fit, confirm the condition criteria and provider network through the Plan Finder or by calling 1-800-MEDICARE before you enroll.
How do I check an Aetna plan against my doctors and prescriptions before December 7?
The most reliable way is the Medicare Plan Finder at medicare.gov. You can enter your ZIP code, add your prescriptions and preferred pharmacy, and see each plan's drug list, estimated yearly drug cost, and whether a provider is in network. You can also call 1-800-MEDICARE, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
A short checklist that saves a lot of frustration:
- Pull your medication bottles and write down the exact drug name, strength, and dosage.
- List the doctors, specialists, and hospitals you want to keep using.
- Note your regular pharmacy, including whether you use mail order.
- Read your current plan's ANOC — it tells you what is changing January 1, 2027.
- Compare each plan's Evidence of Coverage, not just the summary, for the details that matter to you.
What is changing in Medicare itself for 2027?
A few program-wide numbers are already set for 2027. The Part D out-of-pocket cap rises to $2,400 in 2027 (up from $2,100 in 2026). The Part D maximum deductible is $700 in 2027 (up from $615 in 2026). CMS has also set the 2027 Part D national base beneficiary premium at $41.33 — that is a formula input, not what any particular plan charges.
The 2027 Part B standard premium and deductible, and the 2027 IRMAA income brackets, have not been announced yet. CMS typically publishes those later in the fall, usually in November. The optional Medicare Prescription Payment Plan, which spreads your drug costs across the plan year in monthly amounts, continues to be available.
What happens if I do nothing by December 7, 2026?
If you do nothing, your current plan renews on January 1, 2027, as long as it is being offered next year — with whatever changes are listed in your ANOC. If your 2026 plan is one of the three Aetna plans not returning, your carrier will send a non-renewal notice, and you have a Special Enrollment Period to pick another plan. You can also use the Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period, January 1 – March 31, 2027, to make one change if you are already in a Medicare Advantage plan.
