What Wellcare Medicare Advantage plans are available in Orlando for 2027?
Orlando sits in Orange County, Florida, where Wellcare (CMS lists the parent company as Centene) will offer 6 Medicare Advantage plans for 2027. All six are HMOs — five standard HMO and one HMO-POS — and four are Dual Special Needs Plans (D-SNPs), which are designed for people who have both Medicare and Medicaid. Every one of the six includes Part D prescription drug coverage.
The table below lists every Wellcare plan available in the county for 2027. In alphabetical order, they are:
- Wellcare Giveback (HMO-POS)
- Wellcare Simple (HMO-POS)
- Wellcare Sunshine Health Dual Access (HMO-POS D-SNP)
- Wellcare Sunshine Health Dual Align (HMO D-SNP)
- Wellcare Sunshine Health Dual Align Unity (HMO D-SNP)
- Wellcare Sunshine Health Dual Reserve (HMO-POS D-SNP)
We don't publish premiums, copays, deductibles, networks, drug formularies or star ratings here — those are personal to each plan and change year to year. For that side of the picture, go to Medicare's Plan Finder (see below).
What is new, renamed or not returning from Wellcare in Orange County for 2027?
Three Wellcare plans are new for 2027 in Orange County: Wellcare Sunshine Health Dual Access (HMO-POS D-SNP), Wellcare Sunshine Health Dual Align (HMO D-SNP) and Wellcare Sunshine Health Dual Align Unity (HMO D-SNP). All three are D-SNPs with drug coverage.
Two plans continuing into 2027 have been renamed: Wellcare Giveback is now Wellcare Giveback (HMO-POS) (previously an HMO), and Wellcare Simple is now Wellcare Simple (HMO-POS) (previously an HMO). The former Wellcare Dual Reserve (HMO D-SNP) is being carried forward as Wellcare Sunshine Health Dual Reserve (HMO-POS D-SNP).
And three Wellcare plans from 2026 are not returning in Orange County next year. If you are enrolled in a plan that is going away, Wellcare must tell you in writing before enrollment opens, and your Annual Notice of Change (ANOC) explains your options. If you do nothing, you may be left without Medicare Advantage coverage on January 1, 2027, so this is a year to open that envelope.
What are Dual Special Needs Plans, and who are they for?
A Dual Special Needs Plan is a type of Medicare Advantage plan limited to people who qualify for both Medicare and Medicaid. Four of Wellcare's six Orange County plans for 2027 are D-SNPs. If you are not dual-eligible, you cannot enroll in a D-SNP; if you are, these plans coordinate your Medicare and Medicaid benefits in one place. Medicare's Plan Finder will flag which plans you are eligible for when you enter your details.
Wellcare does not offer any Chronic Condition SNPs (C-SNPs) or Institutional SNPs (I-SNPs) in Orange County for 2027.
How do I check a Wellcare plan against my doctors and prescriptions before December 7?
Go to medicare.gov/plan-compare and enter your ZIP code, your prescription drugs (with doses) and your preferred pharmacies. The Plan Finder shows every Medicare Advantage plan available at your address, lets you add your doctors, and estimates your yearly drug costs under each plan. You can also call 1-800-MEDICARE (1-800-633-4227), which is open 24/7.
Three things worth checking plan by plan:
- Doctors and hospitals. HMO and HMO-POS plans use provider networks. Confirm your current doctors are in-network for 2027 — this can change at renewal, even if the plan name is the same.
- Prescriptions. Each plan has its own formulary (drug list) and pharmacy network. A drug covered in 2026 may be on a different tier in 2027.
- The ANOC. If you are already in a Wellcare plan, the Annual Notice of Change you received in September spells out what is changing in your plan for 2027.
Wellcare is one of 16 carriers offering Medicare Advantage plans in Orange County next year, out of 106 Medicare Advantage plans countywide. If a Wellcare plan isn't the right fit, you have other choices to compare.
What Medicare costs are already confirmed for 2027?
CMS has published a few Part D figures for 2027:
- The Part D out-of-pocket cap rises to $2,400 in 2027 (up from $2,100 in 2026). Once your out-of-pocket spending on covered drugs hits that cap, you pay $0 for covered Part D drugs the rest of the year.
- The Part D maximum deductible is $700 in 2027 (up from $615 in 2026). Individual plans can set a lower deductible.
- The Part D national base beneficiary premium for 2027 is $41.33. This is a formula input CMS uses — it is not what any specific plan charges.
The 2027 Part B standard premium and deductible, and the 2027 IRMAA income brackets, had not been announced as of early fall 2026. CMS typically releases those figures in November. The Medicare Prescription Payment Plan, which lets you spread your out-of-pocket Part D costs across the year in monthly installments, continues in 2027 and is available with any Part D plan at no extra charge.
