St. Petersburg, Fla. — Fall 2026. The 2027 Medicare Advantage map in Pinellas County is set, and it looks a little different than it did this year. One carrier is pulling out of the county, 18 brand-new plans are joining the lineup, and 29 current plans will not be back on January 1. If you live in St. Petersburg, this is the backdrop for the choices in front of you during Annual Enrollment 2027, which runs October 15 through December 7, 2026.

What Medicare Advantage plans are available in St. Petersburg for 2027?

St. Petersburg is in Pinellas County, where Medicare Advantage availability is set at the county level. For the 2026 plan year, Pinellas County has 129 Medicare Advantage plans from 18 carriers — 86 HMOs, 13 HMO-POS plans and 30 PPOs, with 72 Special Needs Plans and 117 that include drug coverage. For 2027, the carrier count stays at 18, but the slate of plans shifts: 83 plans continue, 18 are new, 29 are leaving, and 17 are being renamed. The table on this page lists every plan available in the county for 2027.

The returning carriers for 2027 include Aetna (CVS Health), Align Senior Care, BayCare Health Plans, Blue Cross Blue Shield (HCSC), Centene (WellCare), Devoted Health, Elevance Health (Anthem), Florida Blue, Florida Blue HMO, Florida Complete Care, Gold Kidney Health Plan, Humana, Longevity Health Plan, SECUR Health Plan, Solis Health Plans, Ultimate Health Plans and UnitedHealthcare.

Which carrier is leaving St. Petersburg for 2027?

In Pinellas County, American Health Advantage of Florida will not offer a Medicare Advantage plan for 2027. Its single plan here — American Health Advantage of Florida (HMO I-SNP), an Institutional Special Needs Plan — is on the leaving list. Every other carrier that currently sells in Pinellas County plans to be back next year, though several are reshaping which plans they offer.

What Medicare Advantage plans are not returning in Pinellas County next year?

Twenty-nine plans available in 2026 will not be sold in Pinellas County in 2027. They come from several carriers:

Elevance Health (Anthem) accounts for the biggest single carrier change here, with eight plans leaving the county.

What plans are new in Pinellas County for 2027?

Eighteen plans are new for 2027. By carrier:

A number of these — Humana Essentials Plus Giveback, BlueMedicare Patriot Plus, BlueMedicare Premier Plus, DEVOTED GIVEBACK EXTRAS 115 FL — are additions, not replacements. Several Special Needs Plans are also expanding in Pinellas County, especially for people who qualify for both Medicare and Medicaid (D-SNPs) or who have specific chronic conditions (C-SNPs).

Which Pinellas County plans are being renamed for 2027?

Seventeen plans are keeping their contract and footprint but changing names. A rename is not the same as a brand-new plan: the plan continues, so if you are enrolled you stay enrolled unless you choose otherwise. Among them:

Several Humana and UnitedHealthcare D-SNPs are being renamed to make the "dual" nature of the plan clearer. If you are in one of these plans, you should still receive your plan's Annual Notice of Change in September detailing exactly what is changing for 2027.

What happens if my plan is leaving St. Petersburg?

If your Medicare Advantage plan is one of the 29 not returning in Pinellas County next year, your carrier is required to send you a non-renewal notice. You then qualify for a Special Enrollment Period that lets you switch to another Medicare Advantage plan or go back to Original Medicare (with or without a stand-alone Part D plan) outside of the normal Annual Enrollment window. For plans ending December 31, 2026, that SEP generally runs from December 8, 2026 through the end of February 2027.

You can also act during AEP itself. The Annual Enrollment Period for 2027 coverage runs October 15 – December 7, 2026, and any change you make takes effect January 1, 2027. If you do nothing and your plan is still offered, it renews automatically with the changes in its ANOC.

What Medicare figures already apply for 2027?

Some 2027 numbers are already set and some are not. CMS has confirmed that the Part D out-of-pocket cap rises to $2,400 in 2027 (from $2,100 in 2026), the Part D maximum deductible rises to $700 in 2027 (from $615 in 2026), and the Part D national base beneficiary premium is $41.33 for 2027 — a formula input, not the premium any particular plan charges. The 2027 Part B standard premium and deductible, and the 2027 IRMAA income brackets, have not been announced yet; CMS typically publishes those later in the fall.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to do anything during Annual Enrollment if I like my plan?
No. If your current Medicare Advantage plan is offered in Pinellas County for 2027, it renews automatically on January 1, 2027. Read the Annual Notice of Change your plan sent you in September so you know what is changing, and compare only if something matters to you.
When does the Annual Enrollment Period for 2027 coverage end?
December 7, 2026. Any change you make between October 15 and December 7, 2026 takes effect January 1, 2027. After that, Medicare Advantage members have a second window — Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment from January 1 to March 31, 2027 — to make one change.
My Medicare Advantage plan is not being offered next year. What are my options?
You can pick a different Medicare Advantage plan in Pinellas County, or return to Original Medicare and add a stand-alone Part D plan. Because your plan is non-renewing, you get a Special Enrollment Period that generally runs December 8, 2026 through the end of February 2027, in addition to the regular AEP.
Where can I compare the actual plan details?
Use the Medicare Plan Finder at medicare.gov, which lets you enter your ZIP code and medications to see every plan available in Pinellas County, with premiums, deductibles, networks and star ratings. You can also call 1-800-MEDICARE, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. For personalized help choosing or switching plans in St. Petersburg, start at medicare.gov or call 1-800-MEDICARE. Your current plan's Annual Notice of Change is the single most useful document on your kitchen table this fall — it tells you exactly what is changing for 2027.
